@TripleSRank

Ah, okay. I was viewing it as a grouped set of things you were wanting within a single package, and it became difficult to even come up with anything ._. I can work with separate ideas with more leeway in the ecchi department than I had taken understanding of much easier than that, so let me try again.

Though the Yamada-kun recommendation still stands, for reasons I've already stated.

While I would be inclined to argue that none of the characters stand out in of themselves (sans maybe the MC, just for being a few steps ahead of the average MC in terms of having a fleshed out personality), on a whole view the cast of Trinity Seven was one that I felt had a sense of natural chemistry that would be good by any standards, with simply their interactions being a potential carrying point of the show. For a disclaimer, it *might* be a bit too much in the ecchi department for what you're looking for, albeit I wouldn't say it was to the point where I'd mill it out entirely as opposed to just offer a noted caution. I would be extremely surprised if somebody managed to convince me that the narrative or setting or anything of that nature was anything of note.

In terms of characters as individuals I'm not sure how strong it'd be, but I did strongly feel that the interactions between the characters flowed very naturally without being too down to earth. In a sense, the feeling I got was that it had a harem decisively above what would be the average cast but only on a group standpoint.

That would be a cautionary one. Like I said, I wouldn't dream of recommending it for its narrative or setting and it might be a bit too much on the ecchi side of things for you. It's worth noting for that aspect, though, I feel like.

There's OreShura. I didn't like it much, honestly, but I think I've told you before about how this one is odd in how it seems to be more popular with people who don't tend to like the genre than people who do. I don't see anything that'd make it like so, personally, so I can't go much into specifics about what kind of appeal it would possess, but it's worth noting for as much if nothing else.

This might be another one that'd go too far for you in the ecchi department so I would recommend it with caution, but Shomin Sample is another possibility for the comedic aspects being distinct and just so goofy-by-design that it gives it a rather refreshing feel to it, or at least that's how I felt about it. The premise in of itself - guy transfers to all girls school - would probably seem absolutely trite, but in a sense it's more about the what it does with that premise that makes it one of the funnier ones I've seen. The gist of it is that the girls inside of the all-girls school are all overly-sheltered and know nothing about how commoners function or operate - which is why they transferred him into the school, to be a "sample" to connect the student body to the outside world more - which it plays up to become a sort of comedic ignorance and lack of common sense. I'm not sure how much you'd be into that sort of comedy, but it's worth tossing out there, I feel like. It also has a bunch of pop-culture related humor, if that's your thing. HaXXspetten wrote a much more detailed review on it, if you're interested in more detail beforehand, and it does talk about more things that might be concern/interest to you (like the ecchi or more detailed breakdowns of the characters) and I don't really want to just sit here and reiterate him on that, given I'd just be using his words, which seems unfair.

There's 4 that I feel you'd have the potential to like, at least, albeit none of them come with 100% certainty and two of them have a cautionary warning attached.

-------

That said, I feel like it's significantly harder to make sense of what would lie within the appeal of harems on a broader scale than one could do with mecha or mahou shoujo because harem aspects aren't as definitive about what type of show it'll be in of itself and thus it's kind of its own weird entity compared to the other more narrow genres - there's harems that follow the structure of school SoL, more action and battle oriented harems, stuff like DxD which is an H/E but follows a more battle-shounen like structure in terms of progression, more supernatural harems like Monogatari or Roukajouma, fantasy harems, isekai harems, harems involving space alien girls like TLR or DearS, monster girl harems seem to carving out their niche lately, so on and so forth - and even within those latter examples, you'd need something stacked beneath it to give it a reason being, so it's almost like a genre within a genre within a genre. I've made the joke before, albeit I wouldn't do this now because I worry people might latch onto it and take it negatively, that the harem (and ecchi) genres are parasytes in that they cannot really exist unless put on top of some sort of other existing genre.

You could legitimately have a Mahou Shoujo harem, even, if you placed a male MC in a situation where he was surrounded by mahou shoujo girls who had the hots for him, albeit I don't know of any off of the top of my head. Whereas I doubt many mahou shoujo fans would be fond of that in of itself, it's just sort of how the genre tends to operate. On top of existing genres. Kind of like ecchi does in that way, albeit it's more of a structural thing than ecchi so less loose. So often times it could rely on what genre it's being stacked with needing to appeal to the viewer as well, i.e. I doubt most people who don't like school SoL would be inclined to liking a school SoL harem like Haganai, but maybe they'd be inclined to liking something more fantastical or action-oriented like DxD. Or, of course, maybe just a girl or two within the show that you want to keep seeing more of, but I don't think that'd be an argument that could be made for broader appeal.

With that in mind, would be interesting to kind of try to mix stuff together and make a case for a broader appeal, though, kind of alchemy-style I guess. I'm going to take note of it and try to write up a potential future argument over it, albeit if I'm being completely honest, as of now I myself haven't put much thought into making the case as to "how harems can appeal to non-harem fans" because I just don't have a particular inclination towards converting people to the genre as much as defending whatever criticisms I would feel to be unfair. It does seem like it'd be more difficult to make that argument because of how the genre tends to just be something that can only really exist with some other genre attached to it, though, albeit not impossible to maybe come up with something with thought and effort either. I just haven't really tried to do so yet myself, so I can't provide something more meaty than the reliance on other genres, sadly.

It's good that Slop leveling won the CR awards with such a power gap, Gaijin Weebs don't deserve good anime.
Not after what they did to frieren, kusuriya, and many others

I don't understand why Alex is being grouped together with Mamster considering his favs

Compare how many times you have seen Alex talk about DN, S;G or SnK versus seeing him talk about Momo or spam a TLR or Monogatari gif and you'll notice his tendencies.
Mhmmm.
Honestly, I think Mamster's is shittier. Though Alex's LoveRu obsession is very concerning. I mean, they both like garbage ecchi anime and have bad taste in girls, the only worthy girl on Mammy's list that isn't shit tier waifu is Mai. Alex ain't much better in that regard. So it's hard. But at least Alex has some non ecchi titles and monogatari.

^Um...my ecchi tastes are superior...

TLR Darkness is by far the greatest ecchi ever made.

And we have Momo to thank for that.

Monogatari Series is a close second.

One of the best harems for sure.

So many great waifus.

If I die I just wanted to say:

I love Clannad after story.
Watching anime wasn't a waste of time. I wanted to become A professional boxer. SAO isn't overrated.
High school dxd is the best ecchi I watched.
Rewrite is the best vn I ever read, even it it took me 8 months to finish.

So in case you guys haven't heard the news already, there's the huge category 5 hurricane Irma that is currently on it's path to devastating various places of the Caribbean, one of which unfortunately is the island I live in, I'm fearing for my life and with prayers to God Usopp I hope I come out alive, nevertheless I likely won't have internet for a while due to the damage caused by Irma. So it is with a nervous heart that I leave these words for you all.

With that being said,

One Piece (manga) is hella awesome, if you don't agree, you're wrong.

The Fate fanbase, is in fact one of the best fanbases in anime, as said here: "We combine the obsessiveness of Tolkien with the divisiveness of Star Trek, the powerlevels of DBZ with the waifu wars of Sailor Moon and the grimderp of Berserk with the word salad of GitS the pretentiousness of Eva and the memeyness of JoJo. Truly we are the apex predators of animu fandom."

There are many dumb reasons to give an anime a 1/10, but the worst one for me, without a doubt is: "My best girl didn't win". Yeah, looking at you, tragedydesu.

FMA, Gintama, Boku no Hero Academia, Hunter x Hunter, Monogatari Series, Fate series, Steins; Gate, Gurren Lagann, SnK (ok, maybe this one just a little bit) aren't overrated, they're good anime.

Sword Art Online is neither overrated nor underrated, it has an almost equal balance between fanboys and haters who cancel each other out.

There is much more good stuff that anime has to offer than tits and ass, Alex and Mamster, try to expand your horizons.

Traps are NOT GAY, you like them because they look like girls.

This is the best review on this I have seen thus far.

This is the best club on MAL, come and joins us if you're interested, we have cookies...

Pullman and jal90 are the best posters in this site.

Haxxpsetten is a cool guy, but I fear the day if he ever meets a real loli.

The 3.5x speed way of watching anime is the dumbest idea I have ever seen taken seriously, there must be something wrong with people who think it's a good idea.

Tsundere aren't inherently bad, as long they aren't violent and show more dere than tsun they're fun to watch.

There are no bad genres, only bad anime. If you think a whole genre is bad, you haven't look deep enough.

Pretentious, generic, Gary Stu, Mary Sue, overrated, underrated, unrealistic, one-dimensional, pandering, etc. are overused terms in criticism and should be used only if you legit back it up.

With all that said, I hope I'm not offline for too long and I'm hoping to come back safe,

Peace out.

P.S. If nothing bad happens to me by tomorrow, I don't mind a mod locking this thread.
Hope Irma didn't fuck up your area as much as mine.
just got my electricity back but Liberty still don't have their internet shit back up.

Im guilty of this. It is just when you download an anime and play it with vlc or windows players you can change the speed. I do it with really bad anime since I have a creed where I dont drop anime no matter how shit it is. That's pretty much it unless it has an ulterior philosophical bullshit to back that up. Lol
