Despite the crappy animation, I did actually enjoy the episode. Larry (who is now Yahari) was actually pretty funny to me this episode. The adaption is good and I'm not surprised the art is basic because this is A-1 Pictures. |

Following this line of thought, we should study jurisprudence too? Of course not. I'll give a chance at least for the next two episodes, but without any expectations. You're right that it's not a game, but it's an adaption of a game. They obviously didn't explain the game mechanics in the episode. They did in the game but there's no reason to adapt this part. He just wanted to say that the developers of the game made the first case very easy to solve, so that the players could get used to the game mechanics. Therefore, the first case isn't really interesting. It starts to get interesting later on, when you don't know the culprit. That doesn't mean that this case isn't important. It's very important as a build-up for the second case and therefore it has to be adapted. I just hope that they won't show the culprit in the second case like they did in the game. That's the only thing they could do better in the anime IMO. |

Like you said it's not a hard case but I don't kow why they would kill what little suspense there is like that. |

I mean he often takes the role of a "clumsy, but serious male character" (see Sonic in OPM and Eren in AoT) and I think that description quite fits Naruhodo/Wright. |

It's not great, but it's not THAT bad either. As an avid fan of the AA series, I actually enjoyed it. Even if both, the animation and voice acting suck, I find this watchable. I was expecting something a little bit more like the cutscenes from the AA5 and AA6 games though. Boo :( As for the opening, it was so weird and awkward watching 3 grown men running like that! Whyyyy, lol. Everything was so cringeworthy. The ending was okay. |

As a huge AA fan who played all the games + spinoffs, I had low expectations for the anime. There is just no way to build the tension and mystery in one episode the same way they could n a long turnabout game chapter. I hope that the mystery and tension increases along the series, episode 1 felt like a warmup. There is also something off with the animation, but I'm just happy Feenie got an anime :D |

Animation was poor and although Yuuki Kaji sounds better then I thought, he is still not nearly as good as Takayuki Kondou (once, again, I'm ranting about stupid recast). The rest of the voice actors were fine. As for pacing, it was alright, I guess. Will keep watching it so far. |

It's in the little kid's timeslot, so I wasn't expecting much at all, but this makes cheesy shows like CSI and Law and Order seem like brilliant works of art. He should put on a pair of sunglasses after the case and give a lame pun. |

I'm not sure on Yuki Kaji as the role of Phoenix. The whole thing felt like it had a really low budget and I was disappointed. I don't like the OP or the ED. It doesn't feel right to me. The main points of the case were left in but as others have said, the pacing was weird. Hoping the next few episodes are better. |

I liked the first episode. The art style was kinda average to me, not as great of the game art but I understand that too much detailed art would be hard to animate... However the voice acting was good and I'm glad that crunchyroll decides to use the english name in the subtitles instead of the japaneses names (I know that the japanese names are the original but I recognize them by the english name). |

I love the ace attorney games, but I honestly feel like the game hasn't been translated well in the first episode. I feel like if you haven't played the games, the case would seem really rushed. A lot of dialogue and shots were exactly like the game, but that just doesn't work in a tv show. It's a fun watch for the fans, but it just doesn't like a good anime for people who haven't played the game. The 'cross-examination' for example, is really out of place like that in a tv show. I'm looking forward to the next episode, but that is only because I was already into the franchise. |

It was so-so. Anime adaptations of visual novels are always worse (yeah that's a given), so as usual I wasn't expecting too much from this. I'm quite disappointed with the animation style. It could have been a lot better. I have no idea what A-1 Pictures is thinking, this is not how they usually do their animation. Probably gonna take 20+ episodes to adapt the whole trilogy by the looks of it. dammit Payne I was expecting he'd be noisy blurting out Objections and stuff lol. |

Okay so, my thoughts on the first episode. Animation was shoddy. The backgrounds seemed really beautiful, so having scruffy, low budget characters animated over them just looked odd and it made me kinda sad. There wasn't enough detail on the characters, so they were a bit flat. The music was alright, I wish they'd used more music from the original games (heck, I wish they'd had more music altogether - the pacing of music was pretty meh and didn't really add to the atmosphere). The OP and ED were both cute but they didn't really feel very Ace Attorney. They felt more like a slice of life anime OP and ED, just with AA characters inserted. I much preferred the OP to the ED because the ED was just plain weird. The pacing was sh*t. I didn't have the sense of excitement and suspense that I got in the games because everything was rushed. Characters weren't as lovable as in game ;-; What I did like: the easter eggs (the pink sweatshirt from T&T, in the OP there were chalk drawings on the pavement and they were of Trucy and the Steel Samurai), the usage of at least part of the original soundtrack for AA, the voice acting (especially for Larry), the backgrounds, the story. The adaptation stayed faithful, but this episode wasn't all that memorable. After playing episode 1 of the game I was hooked (and have been for the past 8 years), but I know if I'd watched episode 1 of the anime without prior knowledge it probably wouldn't merit another try. 5.5/10 ALSO WHAT IS WITH ALL THE SUNFLOWERS HAVE I FORGOTTEN SOME KIND OF IN JOKE?! If anything it should be fields of stepladders... ;) |

I did not play the game(s), but...this anime is definitively bad. Trying to copy the game doesn't work in this anime... This anime is just a joke : - The name of the protagonist are a joke : Naruhodo and Yahari ? - This case is a joke : They give us the culprit from the start... - The fingerprints of Yahari are on the weapon by pure luck (no way the actual culprit could have known about it) => If the fingerprint of Yahari are found on the weapon, this mean our true culprit did not even take the time to clean it. How come nobody talk about another pair of fingerprints ? (without even mentionning that the culprit has been in the house touching everything) - This case is even more a joke : The first "revelation" is done by using an hint we did not even know about it (time). Naruhodo just glance over the list of evidence and find it. Right... (it's ok for a game when you are the ONE looking for the answer). - A lot of stuff does not even make sense : Culprit => I did not want to get in the apartement ; Judge => Why did not use the phone in the appartment ? ; Culprit : There was a shortage of electricity. - The first revelation should have been enough to at least make the witness unreliable. But, the judge does not really care, - The final revelation (time lag)... you already probably found out by the middle of the episode. Basically, nothing stands out : the case, the character or the animation. Dropped. (I can not believe the rating of this anime is over 8...). |

How does the anime dare to remove something that was present in the game?! How dare they remove Mia's explanation how to press the witness and how to present evidence to the court by clicking on... oh wait... no, but seriously, when I read "endearing characters"... come on! AS IF you found them endearing in what was essentially the gameplay tutorial (and the obviously necessary removal of these elements are what made the episode seem "rushed" in the first place). As an adaption it was alright I guess. The pacing wasn't too bad because this was an introductory case. I'm trying together more into anime so I can't really comment on the animation quality so I think it's just "good".I did however disliked the moment's they tried to imitate the game they shouldn't do it in anime. As for the writing, since this was meant to be a children s game the case's aren't too complex it's how the anime worked with it and I think they could've done a better job building tension. All in all I may not know much but I do know A-1 pictures will somehow mess things, I cringed when I saw that they we're making this, because of what I heard from them. |

The pacing sucks in this anime adaptation. It feels really rushed. Maybe it's because instead of you taking your time to think the solution in the game they just solve the case really fast in their head. I hope they change this because it really felt like solving the case was effortless. It felt like a speed run of the game really |
