Overrated/Underrated lists are always just one step away from personal like/dislike lists anyway; it just adds in the factor of the supposed number of other people who don't share your opinion. I suppose if none of us ever posted on message boards like this and just bought/downloaded/watched the shows, we'd never know if it was supposed to be popular or not. But luckily we have that little "Top Anime" link on the left side to help us out. :) Despite that, I'll say 5 Centimeters Per Second was the most overrated anime I've seen this year, while Umisho was the most underrated. |

| Anything that is in the top 100 anime after having just aired in 2007 is certainly over-rated. By my definition. And arguably many in the top 250 are also over-rated. |
| I agree with a few others that have noted this. No offense to anyone, but this question is BS. This always seems to be a way of validating one's opinion. An anime's popular but *you* (and maybe a few other people you know) didn't like it, so its overrated. Or not enough attention got paid to this series that you have just fallen in love with, so its underrated. Meh. |

| i dont know about overrated since a lot of people say they're overrated simply because they're popular and they don't like them. it's all opinionated. underrated however is a different story. it can be good but simply unknown. and having just watched the first episode: Moyashimon is the most underrated show of 2007. This show is freaking genius. |
| Although I don't often participate in this kind of topic, I just gonna add in this Overrated : School Days The Nice Boat hype. I never see this series enjoyable at all except for the ending. Definitely one of the worst romance anime I've come across. Plot? It started fine, then went down, and down and down and till the point I don't know what the producer wanted to do (ep9 onward) that they just put in anything (oh hey any girl is fine?) and to the final climax episode? No offense to those who like it. Personal opinion. Ok this is my 2007 anime hate list =D |

| For overrated, I'm going with School Days, because I honestly believe everyone likes it for the wrong reasons. Not that it's popular, per se, but why it's popular. Underrating is pretty much an issue of taste, though, so I'll keep quiet on that bit. |

Again, popular != overrated Well then, SnS II is over-rated. ^^ ...but still, I don't look at popularity in general to gauge whether or not a series is overrated. Usually It's the largely popular series which really don't have the ratings to live up to It's hype. Sure, any popular series can be considered 'overrated' depending upon the person, but series like Naruto which have a rating that declines on a daily basis, yet continues to maintain It's popularity... That's what I consider over-rated. Shakugan no Shana II is heading down a similar path, if it continues with the same recycled material time and time again. Though I admit the most current episodes(8 and 9) of SnS II where better than the previous. |

Because people are commenting that it is not all that great, and yet it has good ratings, is a perfect example of something that is over-rated. | But that's exactly what's up with StrikerS and other "mediocre" sequels. Great expectations and dissapointment. And that's pretty much it. Having such good previous seasons justifies (imo) the existing fanbase. |

| That's perfectly understandable, but all I'm saying is that SnS II is over-rated; whether or not SnS deserves It's current fan-base never crossed my mind. I don't expect fans to stop being fans simply because the sequel is sub-par, but because most people agree that SnS II IS sub-par, and yet still maintains a large fanbase and good ratings, I don't understand why it wouldn't be considered overrated. |

| Okay, but what about outside of the fanbase? The fanbase works that way, it's hard to stop being a fan, unless the franchise makes a monumental mistake. SnS II is generally regarded as bad (so far) outside of that "large" group of people. I can't see why it could be called overrated. |
