ITT: offend-trolls everywhere

Nice try Tallon, but putting an adult in jail for displaying interest in another adult is a slight violation of basic human rights, under any reasonable definition. I don't think that you'd have a hard time understanding that if it were displays of straightness being outlawed, but heteronormativity has done a number on you.

I know that you'll be upset that I used a filthy social justice term, but stay strong. Wipe away those tears and think rationally.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible.
TallonKarrde23 said:
I don't think it's right to pretend it's right or wrong just because it's something we were born and trained to believe is immoral for the government to do. Saying the government is terrible and 'needs to die' for this is being the same way they are acting about homos. It's not like they are committing genocide by saying you can't get caught being gay, it's not like fucking or making out are necessary for the human body to survive and there is no basic global human right about 'you can suck dicks if you like them as a man' because that'd be stupid. They are doing nothing wrong here aside upsetting your personal moral views of how the world should be.

Don't go all social justice warrior about fucking everything, especially when it's in a country you aren't even a part of. People seem to forget that the right to many freedoms - including being gay (acting on that sexuality, rather), religion, etc, are all things dictated by a few countries. They are not human rights. Claiming a government is tyrannical because homosexuality is banned is essentially saying that America and Europe are the only ones allowed to decide things for the human race and all must follow their hamburger and tea overlords.

I don't agree with it, but it doesn't make it some sort of objectively morally wrong, stupid, or evil decision. It just means I disagree with it.

Its not wrong because we were taught it was immoral to do. It's wrong because it is taking away one's ability to be with whom they love. It is taking away freedom due to a hatred of something that deserves no hatred. What's going on is horrible. Gays should be allowed to be gay without worry.

Well I know what I'm crossing off my "places to get married at" list.
Although India was never actually on the list, the meaning is clear as day anyway.

They're trying to resolve the problem of Caste System , there are reserved seats in colleges and jobs for members of lower castes ( And theses reservations don't constitute a small percentage they are pretty large actually ) and of-cource discrimination on the basis of caste is already a crime. The situation with regard to castes has improved by a huge margin in the past few years.

that's not resolving the problem at all. that's called affirmative action

real resolution of the problem is fixing the system so that if any injustices, crimes, discrimination are done towards anybody at all, the victim has the law on his side

and the system in india is extremely broken and defiled by immense corruption

You know what the problem with this is...?

Sticking them in a prison for 10 years sure won't cure them.
They should rather institutionalise them and provide them with plenty of hetero porn.

^ So You'd rather have them in prison?
...which, if anything, will only make them more gay.
(as they'll constantly come into contact with their own sex only.)

I'm at least applying common sense and logic here.

It's not a law that was passed in the 21st century. It also did not "just" come out. What happened is that there was an archaic law (19th century), still on the books from British Colonial days, that was struck down by a judge years ago following a legal challenge. A higher court then ruled that the lower court should not have struck down that law on the grounds that it used, thus reinstating the law, which has never been that heavily enforced to begin with.

While I disagree with some of the rationale for both the lower and supreme court rulings, this is basically a situation where an attempt was made to circumvent the law via legal action, albeit for a noble means. This ultimately failed because they could not back up what everyone knew could be temporary with a permanent follow-on, which only the legislature can provide.

umm hello? the Ancient Greeks were openly homosexuals just saying. Jk jk, but there is some truth to it, they were pretty open about relationships with other men. And the Ancient Greeks are the founders of Modern Democracy and Western Civilization as we know it.

Well that certainly puts this thread title into perspective. Legislation is a bitch. Takes time for laws to adept. But yeah, it's a sad story. I doubt it will have any practical consequences though.

There will be some degree of practical consequence, but it will be more in the vein of blackmail than people in prison. The number of actual convictions under this law is phenomenally low (about 1.3 per year since inception), which was a major part of the Supreme Court's argument. However, the fear is that this will be used for financial and political blackmail, where threats, both by official entities and individuals, could be used to coerce homosexuals and others affected by the law.
The fear is harassment, not incarceration.

Absolutely disgusting. There's a strong link between homophobia and being a closeted homosexual, so I think some of the people posting here should come out of the closet already, lol.

Anyway, does it even matter if being gay is a choice or a born thing? What does that change?

People who actually bother hating on gays, should really re-evaluate their life. If you're going to hate on gays, just because they are different than yourself, you should be hating everyone. There is no legitimate reason to hate people who are attracted to their own gender. Gay marriage was approved here in 2009 and I'll let you all in on a little secret, it hasn't affected my life one damn bit. The gays have not taken over, they haven't killed anyone, they haven't forced anyone to become gay. Even though people think the world will end, it really doesn't.

Stop being so dramatic, it's hurting absolutely nobody and it's not your right to police someone's private life.

I was going to say that you are no better than the Nazi's were to jews. I bet if you had the choice that's exactly how you would get rid of them aswell, but using religion as a scapegoat it's suddenly okay to actively hate and strip people of their human rights.

You can now follow my example, as I am not too fond you. I will ignore you instead of saying that I hate you, just because you're not "normal".

The constant need to promote their sexual preferences to everyone around them. The whole world has to aknowledge their right to be "different". Major discussion topic is how "they" have to suffer and the slightest thing that don't go like they want is the direct result of discrimination. Beside that these persons are often shallow and have nothing other than their sexual preferences to define them.

It's only a small group who does it, but pisses off enough people to focus it on the whole gay community.
