| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Translations on the way (read one), so ... * The year is 844 - a year before the attack on Shiganshina. * Erwin, Mike and (surprise) two other SL soldiers chase Levi and his friends around the underground cityscape. * Oh, shoot, the Scouting Legion is not the Military Police when it comes to the 3DMG! * Erwin and Mike are trying to corner Levi. * Levi tries to shake them off, throws Mike off, but bumps in to Erwin ^^ * In the mean time, the other two are also captured, and Erwin has Levi's gang lined up for interrogation. * Levi strikes a deal out of concern for his friends. Doesn't like it ^^ Erwin does ^^ It's an OK chapter, I guess. In many ways, it went fast. Perhaps more drama is expected when the vagabond trio enlists in the Scouting Legion and meets the titans. |
| I like the first chapter. It doesn't feel rushed, the art's better than the original, and the characterization of Levi and Erwin stayed true to the original source. Honestly, I kinda expected the manga to sail the EruRi ship right away from chapter 1, but I guess that'll make people turn away. Solid first chapter with loads of action, 5/5. P.S: Chapter 2 pls come sooner. |

| Pretty good chapter. Ironic how much better this art is from the actual series lol. But I hope the manga won't be too short and rushed. I'd really like it to go into Levi's past in-depth. Along with how he started living there in the underground city. It's a promising start! |

| Oh, wow. This was definitely a lot better than Before the fall. The art and the paneling are really good and I can actually understand what is happening in every frame. Can't wait to see how this artist portrays the titans. |

| Ha, that "what does his passionate gaze focus on" line had me completing the thought with Erwin. But that was a marvelous first meeting, filled with all the nice things friendships should start with. :P |

| ^ Well, we don't know if the manga spin-off will ever cover his past before joining the Scouting Legion. The manga spin-off should be based on the VNs, released so far, which, short story very short, is to explain why the Prologue ended with Levi trying to kill Erwin. Which reminds me - translations of the VN will appear very soon and chapter 2 of the manga is due in 10 days or so. Those interested, look around the net for sources and translation. * I know what happened in the VN story, however, will it be satisfying for everyone, it's hard to tell. That is, be on the safe side in terms of expectations (as usual)* |

He was a Squad Leader, working under Keith Shardis, who was the Commander of the Scouting Legion then. In 850 Erwin was already the Commander, according to the OVA. | The action was nice. And even though it is already at the point where Levi is recruited, hopefully we will still see some flashbacks to get a better perspective on their lives as thugs. |
