I just feel that anime has a more mystical feel to it than any other medium, and that anime's like an escapist's fantasy, somewhere I could wander off to so that I could leave the mundane aspects of the real world for a while. Sure, I could find that in just about any fantasy film/cartoon, but like I said, anime feels different in a mystical way.

Besides, it's fun to watch animation as profound as anime. :P

It's superior entertainment, a good time waster, and because there's cute things in anime especially of the female persuasion.

Hmmm...

There's just this element you get from animes that you can't get from normal TV shows.
That, and also because I just like them. I practically grew up watching Dragon Ball, so I can't help but to like animes. A lot.

I like to download things and watch them.

It doesn't matter if it's anime, or live action, american or eastern, etc.

I like anime because it is entertaining, artistic, thought-evoking,...............etc.

It's altogether just a WHOLE lot better than what America has to offer.

Well I've been watching TV in general all my life (haven't we all), but I watch it a lot. I mean a lot. So after spending....my life watching cartoons, movies and whatnot, I somehow stumbled across Elfen Lied. I felt more touched then a young boy in a catholic church. So a year later, here I am, addicted and loving every minute of it.

I've never really asked myself that question.

But when I was 11, Case Closed, and Inuyasha came on Adult Swim every night. Well, 6 years later, I remembered those series, and started watching anime non-stop 2 years ago. I got hooked. Plus, it's a hell of a lot better than the shows that come on TV these days. I don't watch it just to kill time. I really, really like it. I don't really know why. It just stuck to me, and I got addicted. lol XD

Edit: I guess I should include that I went searching for a good manga to read after I started watching CC again, and I found Elfen Lied, and Claymore. Well, I only read a couple of pages of the manga's before I decided that I needed to watch them. Elfen Lied really got me started, actually.

I've always loved cartoons, and I started watching anime for its different (and, in my opinion, much better) art and entertainment. After a while, it just kinda stuck to me. Now I watch it for the large variety of things it can offer such as a thought-provoking story, memorable characters, etc.

I think I watch anime because ( wow this is a tougher question then I thought) umm well because I like it for enjoyment. The artwork is jst fantastic. (on a deep note) I think we like to put ourselves in that situation and make believe we are something we are'nt. Sooooo yeah theirs probably something wrong with all of our brains but we like it anyway.

The imagination. The variety. The way they take you to new worlds, and how sometimes, you don't want to come back.

Also, I personally feel that animated characters are usually much more "believable" than movie actors or actors on TV shows.

I dont think anything is wrong with us, sure some people may go a little overboard but i feel like people sorta do the stuff they never were able to by watching anime. And your right it was a bit hard to answer after thinking about it.

I wish I wouldn't have taken for granted the time when I was young and could laugh so easily.

Tough question. Every time I see it I can't help but think of its reverse, the typical "I hate anime" threads found anywhere on the non-otaku internet. And, as I don't feel any respect for these opinions based on one, two shows or maybe on general clichés about a specific genre out of all, this thing about "liking anime" doesn't sound convincing either. It's a little too generic to work, so, how much anime do I have to watch to arrive to the conclusion that I love the medium as a whole?

I can say, however, that I'm interested on some things anime makes possible. My favorite form of artistic expression is animation, in general. I just happen to love it, I see the hard work behind and can enjoy a lot of different styles. One of the reasons why I'm interested on anime is its unprejudiced look, how there's the belief that any story and any feeling can be told with animation, no matter it's a fairy tale or mature content. I love the variety that is found in Japanese animation, when it's compared to other great industries around the world (American to be the most well-known).

Other than that, I have a soft spot for some of the basic story qualities in anime. For example, it seems its typical absurdist over-the-top comedy style works on me quite well; I also love the way stories are told, the more -in general- calmed pacing than what I'm used to see in animation. Of course these things don't quite cover all anime, but when they are shown I usually enjoy them a lot.

Cause it's something that can vary from comedy and fun shows, to meaningful and deep shows. Something that I can learn from and change my way of thinking.

I just can't get that feeling with American Entertainment. I just cant get emotionally involved with it and I just wont care about the characters in general . There are some pieces that I do love such as Forrest Gump, but there's not alot like it.

Anime is an art form, and to those who refuse to watch it or they generalize all anime as if they were the same, I feel bad for them. Because they are really missing out on something amazing

I like the bright colors, and a lot of anime have a cool story. There's also much more genre diversity with anime than with American cartoons. All American cartoons seem to be comedy.

Originally it was for all the different and cool stories that would be hard to do with live action. However as slice of life has become my favorite genre I'd say that it's because the art style has grown on me. As well as the language sounding... idk. Smoother.

There's no specific reason for me to prefer anime over other forms of animation.

Japan seems to have a bigger animation industry, so it's more accessible. It also has its distinct non-Western tropes. Mecha, the Harem, yanderes, the semi-realistic but crazy character design. It's another form of storytelling for me to explore.

i just like the art/animation better than western cartoons, and i like the comedy better.
the song/soundtrack used is also top-notch for the most part.
You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.
