Kitchens of Distinction - Strange Free World.

It's pretty much a mix of post-punk, shoegaze and dream pop. The album was produced by Hugh Jones and he was responsible for a number of post-punk albums which is probably why it shows on this. It's nothing that memorable, certain tracks stand out more than others but it's still an enjoyable listen.

Familiars by The Antlers.

Incredibly disappointing. I adore The Antlers, Hospice is one of my favourite albums of all time, Burst Apart was also excellent, but this album starts strong with the sublime "Palace" which isn't just the best song on the album, but one of the bands best songs full stop. However, the rest of the album is completely uninteresting to the point it became a chore to listen to it.

I wouldn't say it is a bad album, it certainly has atmosphere, but it was just so boring.

Excellent album.

Eef Barzelay - Lose Big

Fantastic album, much better than his debut. For an album that jumps so rapidly, sometimes being amusing and whimsical and at other times being utterly tragic, it is surprisingly cohesive. I do love his voice, but towards the end of the album I did find it rather grating.

Their first studio album in seven years. I'm quite happy with it. 7 or 8/10.

Möbius Loop on Bandcamp. My personal favorite song is On the Shore.

Swans - To Be Kind.

Swans never disappoints, whatever they've done they're so consistent with bringing quality. This album has alot of slow minimalistic yet strong build ups, heavy on the repetition but not in a bad way which that word can sometimes be associated with. The album is also their longest since the reunion (it's a little bit longer than The Seer, clocking just over two hours). It's a very powerful and overwhelming listen, but like with their albums in general works best if you can take time out to listen all the way through. It felt like some of Gira's vocals on this album were almost going back to the beginning of Swans. Also, I'm not religious at all but their music has a transcendent feel to it for me whenever I listen.

Point of Entry by Judas Priest

Freaking classic! My first Priest album ever. My dad is a huge fan of Priest and he often sang their songs to me when I was young. We still listen these guys together. So this album and the whole band in general brings back a lot of good memories. I love this from the bottom of my heart, so it's a very easy 10/10.

For me it's a battle between Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Back in the Village.
Powerslave is my second favourite Maiden album after Seventh Son probably.

I certainly have. Some of the earlier albums were hit and miss in my opinion (Microphone, Wires & Cords for example), but Mount Eerie, The Glow Pt. 2, Don't Wake Me Up and It Was Hot, We Stayed in the Water? They are truly magnificent albums.

And so I'm not completely off topic.

Movement of Night by Secret Pyramids.

A solid drone ambient album. Opening track "A Descent" is incredible. The album as a whole is very relaxing, but can be very slow at times, and the lack of variation between tracks can be somewhat tiresome. Still, a bloody great album if you're into ambient at all.

The Blue Angel Lounge - A Sea of Trees

You can definitely hear alot of Nico. His vocals are like a male version of her, plus there's the organ influence. It's obvious by the name of the band though which is named after a club in NY in the 60s where she held her first solo performances. I hear some Joy Division in this in places as well I think. Anyway, the album itself is an enjoyable listen, but it's definitely their weakest so far for me. The first album was psychedelic so quite different compared to what they're doing now. I'm a bit surprised though they don't have more listeners or seem to be all that well known.

The first three are some of her classic 80s pop, but Madonna's best stuff really comes a bit later in her career imo. Give Erotica and Ray of Light a try.

Hmm I haven't been listening to anything new recently, but I have rediscovered my love of country music with The Desert Rose Band's self-entitled. I love singing along to the singles off this album.

Mah nigga.

Lighght by Kishi Bashi.

It's a good album, but I still think I prefer his debut. He's gotten a lot more experimental with this album, dabbling in electronic at times, and I'd even say he's touching on some Prog influences. Kishi Bashi always seems like he's just having fun making music and it definitely shows in this LP.
