Hey, I'd like to know if there are other anime with an original artstyle that I haven't seen yet. The animation doesn't have to be really appealing or likeable at the first sight, it just has to be somehow extraordinary.
From those that I've watched and liked: Mononoke, Gankutsuou, Bakemonogatari, Tatami Galaxy, Revolutionary Girl Utena, xxxHOLiC.
I don't mind older series. I don't care about the genre too. Thanks in advance!

Off the top of my head, there's Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls and Nichijou. Of the two, Hyakka Ryouran has the more extraordinary art style, in my opinion, anyway. ^^

I will second the epicness of Nichijou. It's like sexual chocolate for your eyeballs.

Bakemonogatari doesn't really have an unusual artstyle, just an unusual execution of dialogue. Unusual artstyles, that's kinda difficult. I guess Kaiji has an unusual artstyle, with the nose. Other than that, I mostly know manga. You could try Bakuman, where the manga had rotating artstyles (a rather gag style when they were making a gag manga, more serious when making serious manga), but I don't remember much about the anime.

Actually, Bakemonogatari has a very distinctive art style.

I only noted the unusual way of presentation of the anime and it's dialogue.

OreShura doesn't have unusual artstyle but it was brighter more than any other anime.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

Ooh you're right. Looks very original. Nichijou is already on my PTW list. I'm looking forward for the realistic depiction of the characters. I hate the moe shit that is appreciated nowadays.

To me, Bakemonogatari had definitely unusal art style. The dialogues are other thing. Kaiji is on my PTW as well as Bakuman, I don't read manga often though, but I guess I could give it a try since it's from the creators of DN.

Come to think of it, Mushibugyo also has an artstyle which I've not seen much in anime 2008-onwards.

Oh God, this too. Katanagatari is a visual feast when everyone's not fucking standing and talking. Which happens a lot considering, you know, Nisi

-Bakuman doesn't have any unusual art style ._. those little gag comedy faces don't count tons of manga have it.

I wasn't talking about that. The artstyle of the manga itself varied depending on what manga they were creating at the time. I don't remember about the anime, but the manga had a rotation artstyle.

Then I wouldn't know I only read the last chapters when the subs were getting slow.

Katanagatari looks good.
Already seen Shiki and Black Rock Shooter (BRS was shit though).
Oreshura and Mushibugyo looks pretty generic, but with the second one, I might as well try it after it finishes airing.

Kuuchuu Buranko, by the creators of Mononoke

The 3 original works by Manglobe:
Samurai Champloo
Ergo Proxy
Michiko to Hatchin

And by Manglobe as well, House of 5 Leaves

Casshern Sins, though note that the series is slow and it's more of a work of art with philosophy than an anime to take that seriously. It's original as well.

Inferno Cop - Over the top shorts. Really fun if you don't take them seriously.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventures (2012) - Fabulous manliness.

Litchi DE Hikari Club - shorts, but are enjoyable.

Little Witch Academia - moefied Harry Potter

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica - Mahou Shoujo, but darker.

Nekojiru-sou - mindfuck

Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt - mindless fun as well. Parody too.

Redline - mindless fun as well, with brilliant animation.

(almost) anything by Studio 4°C. e.g. Animatrix, Genius Party

I'm not well versed in anime but from what I've seen I'd recommend Angel's Egg. It's similar to Fantastic Planet, both the music and and art style are fairly somber and unusual.
