HEY MAL! Looks like I'm back from my ban 3 week long vacation...

So, in celebration, I thought I'd make a quick casual topic about something hopefully discussion-worthy. And slightly amusing...

Now then: Do you hang your toilet paper over or under?
Which method do you think is better?
Why?

Pics added because people are incompetent.

I'm afraid this does not encourage discussion, ergo, I'm reporting it.

Already reported too. Get ready for another lengthy ban, Mellow. Hue hue hue. Your friends love you.

On topic, I hang it over. It feels awkward when i pull it under for some reason, because it feels like it gets caught in something.

MellowJello,

The advantage of "over" is that the paper will not touch the wall like with "under". The supposed advantage of "under" is that the pieces are easier to detach.

It's a moot point for us though since we have a bidet. If paper is ever provided/requested, then the roll would be sitting on its side.

But which one do you use?

But if you were in a situation where your high-tech toilet was broken, would you prefer the roll over or under?

Over. The only advantage of under is that it "looks" cleaner. People who hang their toilet paper under are obvious fags.

OVER. Why would you put under? it gets in the way. You know?
Also, if you put it over, it is easier to rip to satisfy your urgent needs.
Though i also have one of those fancy Japanese toilets that washes your butt. But i never do that unless i took a no.2 and i showered before.

if my toilet ever happens to break (which it never will since its my toilet), i would have my subordinates give my ass a thorough cleaning. but if you insist on getting an answer out of me, i suppose i would prefer it over rather than under.

Except that when you have it "under", it's easier to fold it properly, so that the soft patterned side is facing outward. You'd have to FLIP it if it were over.

That alone doesnt overshadow the convenience of a smooth toilet paper pull. Do you care which side you wipe with anyways?

Yes it does, the time spent flipping the paper over onto its "right" side is a pain in the ass. That's time wasted that could've been spent outside the bathroom too! And I do care what side I wipe with. On most double/triple plies, there's a soft side and a rough side. The soft side is of utmost importance.

Generally it would be over rather under. It depends how you pull the toilet paper: up or down.

If the toilet roll is over: you pull down.
If the toilet roll is under: you pull up.

And generally speaking, it's pulling down. Because, well, you are cleaning your bottom.

Please don't assume. It makes an ASS out of U and ME.

Besides, anyone can get anal fissures if they wipe with rough toilet paper. Hell, even wiping too hard can give you em.

That's why you gotta protect yourself with coconut oil-infused hair conditioner and organic lube without all those harsh chemicals. Don't forget non-alcoholic mouthwash and SPF100 sunscreen. You might get arthritis if you wear non-orthopedic shoes.

I feel that this is straying from the topic at hand.

Please understand that UNDER is the true way of the toilet paper roll. There's no compromise to be had. People in a rush to get out and sensitive butts will agree with me.

LOL Mellow trying to re-rail. I think he's just doing under cuz the majority says over, and he just wants to keep the argument going.

But seriously, that smooth pull when you hang it over is totally worth it.
I sometimes cut it short involuntarily when the paper rips when im reeling it in in an under position

I disagree, the time saved flipping to paper to the soft side is much more important than "feelings". It's also easier to tear at a precise 4 sheets, rather than fumbling around with getting your hand on the right part of the roll when it's over.

Ok when you're really in dire need of toilet paper (like RIGHT now, within 3 seconds), what would be worse? Fumbling with it and cutting it short and getting stuff on places you'd rather not? Or having it the right length and but not in the "smooth" side?

You're misreading what I said.

UNDER has the advantage of both easy measurement AND being on the proper side to show it's "smooth" side.

And since you're on the topic of "emergency" toilet paper, having it under would prevent accidental cases of rolling out 10+ sheets, since OVER NEVER TEARS WHERE YOU WANT IT TO.

I just realized that sometimes I don't even bother hanging the tp, no I just place it in close proximity to the toilet and wrap it around my hand/wrist and go from there.

This is probably the most logical and precise thing to do...

I should've thought of this sooner. You're a genius, Roger Victor.

Hmmm, I would find that rather uncomfortable in fact. Cause the paper rips a lot of times when i try to remove them from being wrapped around my wrist

Over is definetly better then under. Whenever I use under I end up cutting the toilletpaper off right between the wall and the roll, so I have to put my dirty pissstained hands on clean toiletpaper to roll it along so I can grab more paper. It's a pain in the ass.

Btw Welcome back Mellow, even tho you won't be unbanned for long.

This discussion is actually very amusing to read.
Anyway, I'm usually not the one who changes the toilet paper if we run out of it, so it depends on the person who does the changing. I think I might start paying attention to it though.
The only thing you can rely on is that you can't rely on anything.
