If you don't have any problem with destroying the battery it's ok but consider restarting it from time to time.
Also after a week consider turining it off for good, like two or three hours, it's good for it's health.

Standby FTW. I made it so when I way press the power button it goes on standby. If on standby for 4 hours, it enters hibernation. I essentially do this instead of shutting down, and it doesn't bother me if I'm borderline asleep. ^^

I'm too bored to turn off power, so yeah I will keep it on all the time ^^
(It does hibernate itself, but not turn off)

Never turn my laptop nor my PC off. The only time i turned it off is when i won't be at home for a really long period of time. The longest i left my laptop on is about a year and my PC that i am using about 7 months and counting.

I try to shut both my desktop and laptop off whenever I go to bed. There are certain occasions when I do leave them on if I'm either downloading or converting videos. Otherwise, I just see no point in keeping them turned on. My laptop will also overheat.

I leave my laptop overnight for like 2 weeks and then restart my computer and then I leave my laptop for a few weeks again, then restart it again and etc. It's an endless cycle.

I never turn off my laptop because I think it is not necessary. I think your computer will be out of date before it breaks down.

I haven't turned off my desktop in months - even then the only times I have in the past were for upgrades or dusting it out (or rarely needing to move it).

Hey, just came across this old post.
A friend of mine told me that I shouldn't leave my laptop on, cause the battery can catch on fire.
I used to leave it on, but my friend got me a little scared, so i don't do it anymore...

I shut the laptop, that counts as turning it off right? kek. Sometimes my laptop will crash and turn itself off so that makes up for it I guess.

The "need" to cycle batteries depends on the battery's composition.

This post explains it much better than I could:

Laptops and PC's are supposed to be shutdown or at least restarted once per day, because of the minor glitches or services that needs to be restarted for better functioning and overall performances.

After all, every component has it's number of hours of lifetime, after you reach that number, they stop functioning well, or die out.

If its in sleep mode ie screen down probably not but I would worry about over heating it, dunno about new laptops but my laptop I use to have burned to the touch if it was on for several hours.
I leave my computer on overnight sometimes if I have downloads, otherwise no there is no point really, it come on in quickly.

I leave mine on, while a game is running in the background. I also play music through the voice chat while I'm sleeping on a Garry's Mod server called Cereal Box Cinema.

I have my Laptop on Sleep Mode the whole Time except for when I need to restart it for Updates or to boot from another OS and I haven't experienced any Issues. But to be fair, I haven't started it for quite a While now...

The only Problems I've ever had were with Energy Saving Mode and Fast Boot (Windows 8+), which is why I disable them.

I'm not saying that it's going to block or something, but there is slightly difference not turning it off for a while or just going to sleep mode, I'm working in IT, and people are just too lazy to turn it off, and when they say my laptop or pc is not working, we just tell them to restart it, and mostly of the time, their stuff begin to work. And ofc you won't be able to see the difference if you have SSD or high end pc or laptop, but difference exists :p

@Zharonar: If you mean literally letting it on the whole Time, then it's something else. I don't do that except for when there is something that requires my Computer to stay on for the whole Night, for Example when I'm running Memtest86.

I don't have a High-End PC and neither a Laptop, but I have SSDs on both. However, I don't want to test it out as I find leaving the PC on the whole Time wastes too much Energy and I don't want to destroy my Laptop's Battery by keeping it loading the whole Time. Also, I don't have any urgent Use of either that I can't wait until they wake up or boot up again :p

I turn off my win7 laptop after every use, its battery isn't powerful enough to leave on all the time. I also have a mac laptop and at least for these, you're supposed to leave them on sleep mode when not in use or else it drains the battery life more quickly if you shut off.

I have to leave mine on, I just lower the brightness and close the lid to the point where it won't trigger the Mac to sleep, I keep it charging too, because my mac shuts down when I close the lid :(

However, If you're looking into whether you should keep it on or not, I guess it would be best to shut it down, but I'm sure keeping it asleep would be fine.

Cheers!

Best thing to do is to have it charging when your using it.
Unplug it when your not, Set the Laptop to sleep mode when the power drains to a certain point.

Most Modern Laptops can instantly wake up from sleep mode even without a SSD.

Nope. It's harmful because it affects your battery in the long run. Whenever I'm not using it, I just shut it off. Same goes with my other devices. Unless I'm downloading something and I'm required to leave it on overnight but I'd prefer not to.

Why don't you just watch the anime online or buy it? I don't see the point of taking up so much valuable space when it isn't necessary.

It looks and sounds better than a stream and it loads faster too (when skipping or going back). You can delete it when you're done if you're concerned about space. Downloading or streaming, you're using bandwidth either way.

I still don't find it necessary. I'd prefer streaming it for convenience but it's all based on personal preference.
