As in, not streaming in 360p. I'm watching Ergo Proxy right now and it's just impossible to watch in bad quality with all the dark, actiony scenes.

I watch all my anime in 720P, 1080p for series with extremely good animation.

I would go for 1080p for all series, but that would take up too much space.

I horde the shows i like best. i have two external harddrives! lol
the last one filled up with old stuff but it didn't have much space (can't remember the space). I can't even remember much of whats on there so my list is lacking. I'd have to plug it in.

the new one is 2T. Now i don't sweat it!

Sorry i skirted the question. yah, if the art is not great i go for 720.

I tend to watch shows in the best quality I can, which is 720p because none of my monitors can handle 1080p. The only exception is ongoing series. I can't be arsed downloading every episode and ordering them in the right files, so I stream them. My only regret is streaming Hyouka, but I can't help it. I have a tight bandwidth.

Prefer to watch my movies in 1080p. Everything else in 720p and older series in 480p or under if 720p not available.

A good example? Redline.

I usually have to watch anime in at the best 720p. Any higher and the video loses sync and acts up.

Now that I have a gorgeous widescreen monitor this stuff actually matters to me, and I'm really itching to rewatch Heartcatch Precure in this glorious quality. Nichijou is another anime with gorgeous style that I need to rewatch with this new monitor.

I actually rewatched Madoka once I got this monitor, mainly to give it a second chance but also because last time I watched it on that cruddy little Watchanimeon.com quality. This time around I found the witch barriers (at least the first one) more impressive but everything else was worse up close.

I watch everything in 720p because my laptop screen only has a resolution of 1366x768, so I see no point in downloading 1080p. As for shows that I would never be able to watch streaming (though I never stream anyway), I'd say AKB0048, Accel World, and Tsuritama. That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Yeah. I've streamed for six years or so and never had any problems with it... Except now. I even watched F/Z and Kara no Kyoukai in 360p and didn't think any of it.

I stream animes that I don't really want to download right away. I watch animes I like at 720p, with SAO as an exception, it's in 1080p.

Then I just download 1080p BDrips when all volumes are out.

Madoka Magica
Hyouka
SAO
AKB0048
Another
Guilty Crown
Dusk Maiden of Amnesia

Anything like that with really good production values. If it's something like Kimi to Boku or Natsuyuki Rendezvous, it probably won't matter if it's slightly blocky, but anything with tons of color or even small color but great detail and 'shine,' it's almost impossible to sit through in low quality.
I personally don't like watching ANYTHING in low quality, so i'm glad people upload most Anime in close to perfect high-definition quality for streaming.

I pretty much do this myself. Movies generally have higher animation quality than series (Heartcatch Precure is a good example. The animation quality in the movie is noticably better than the TV series, not that the TV series looks bad or anything. There's better-looking movies than that of course, I'm just making a direct comparison between a TV series and its movie side-story), hence why I prefer 1080p for those.

720p works fine for most things I watch in fullscreen, but if a series isn't in 720p, then I just get a lower quality version so that I can still watch it. Video quality doesn't matter nearly as much with old-school anime (pre-1990, not counting movies) anyway

I usually go for 480p. But anything made by Shaft or Kyoani I'll try to go higher. The only thing I've downloaded in 1080p is the K-On! Movie. And it looks amazing. It really helps drive in the sense of atmosphere. I also bought the Australian Blu-rays for Madoka Magica and while it looks amazing I wouldn't say that it's 100% necessary

TV quality anime in 720, there is no reason to watch it anything higher, you're just wasting space.

1080 for Movie quality or Blu-ray Releases.
