An epic end to the fight, and with cards beeing pulled out of severed arms :P
Also, explanation on battle and this time Hisoka himself mentions the chewing gum, that his attack is based on.
Nice to finally start meeting the Gennei Ryoudan. Have to get used to Machi's hair beeing pink ^_^

And.. FANSERVICE :P
But Hisoka looked better with his hair down in the manga and 1999 anime. It seemed kinda weird being curly..

lol running out of memory space, sounds like in a battle the one who has full of fear on his head (or preoccupied) can not think of a solution and will just be desperate and may end up losing

great psychological skill Hisoka has right there

True.

Major exposition is VERY normal on HxH.

How so? It explains every move Hisoka uses and how manipulative and twisted he is in battle. The explanation was my favorite part of the episode, it just shows how fucking creative Togashi anime is with Nen fights. Most mangakas use these powers as an easy way out, but not here. Thanks to Nen, every fight is more interesting.

I liked the part where Hisoka started screaming that made him stronger, and when he seemed to die but gained a new power to defeat his opponent and that part where the fighters started hitting each other until only one remained without any form of intellect.

Great episode as usual. The music is becoming more and more fitting and the mood is getting better with each episode. I can't wait till the next episode, this arc is probably my favorite in HxH. Hope they'll buff the animation a little.

Hisok x Machi

Well... I really think that Hisoka's really, really, really gay. Other than Machi, all of Hisoka's interest/toys are in the same gender as he is.... which makes me think that Machi is so manly, Hisoka just can't help himself.

What? We can't have a non-conventional manly woman (not in appearance but how she carries herself)?

As for the episode, it was really done well. It stresses once again how important it is to master each nen principles. It also hinted on a subcategory of Ren which will be revealed on next episode (based from what I've seen on the preview). The best and amusing part for me is how Kastro really did a "frenzied dance" as Hisoka "predicted". Well done, Madhouse!

Hisoka trying to impress Machi is embarassing to witness. He's like a little boy. I bet he doesn't have any experience "wooing" a woman... unlike someone we know. *wink, wink, nudge, nudge*

The fight was cool he actually did die in a frenzy dance, even with that satanic magic trick (math). The animators must love having the names come up like that, which is nice. Nen stitching looked amazing. I thought recapping the entire fight to reveal what was done was a unique way of doing things for the anime and didnt feel all that boring. Confused on the shower scene is he or is he not a phantom troupe member?.

I don't think those two are related. HxH features mostly male characters. Of the few females, Machi is probably the only strong enough to interest him. Though I think he enjoys toying with her affection towards her insane leader more than anything else.

I'm sort of disappointed they wasted so much time on exposition. It also makes me wonder what will they do with the Gyo segment now.

More fairy dust... But nice episode. XD

I think Hisoka just likes whatever interests him, regardless of gender. Even if it mainly includes little boys. . . plus the cast of HxH is mainly guys.

I didn't mind the recap. It was important.

Yeah, that wasn't a good explanation because at this point in time, we know that there are a total of 2 girls Hisoka met (not counting the girl who escorted the Hunter hopefuls to Zevil Island), Menchi and Machi, and out of the two, Machi is the only one he expresses interest outside of fighting them (or so it seems) which is, admittedly, not a good number to make a comparison.

Oh well, it's the only thing I can think of without spoiling anything. I guess saying Hisoka's so fabulous there is no way he isn't gay will suffice (for now)?

Also as many new fans who have no prior experience with HxH have said before, please don't post spoilery stuff. It's well, kind of rude.

What I love about Hunter x Hunter, like many before me have said, is that battles actually have a lot of thought behind them instead of the conventional yelling beefy guys merely beating each other senseless. And what I love the most is that, in spite of having read the manga and watched the older version, is that it's flawless animation and action packed episodes still manage to make me flail in excitement.

Machi and Hisoka's explanation of the fight was a bit long, sure, but it was a rather necessary element to explain how he attained victory in what seemed and impossible battle and, once again, it goes to show you the genius and creativity of the mind behind this anime/manga.

Lastly, while I don't remember Machi's older voice I thought she looked quite adorable with her pink hair and softer voice. It takes some time to get used to the changes but I really love what the new studio is doing with these changes. :) Can't wait to see how Genei Ryodan arc will be handled. <3

Comparing Hisoka's strategy here to the 1999 anime it has certainly outdone its predecessor. Machi's new hair color looks fine and I see no reason to complain about her new voice. The pacing in the recent few episodes have been on the slow side; hopefully they will pick up the pace just a little. Overall I'm quite satisfied with the episode, and the remake as a whole.

This episode was OK, it all happened like it did in the manga (as far as I remember, I didn't re-read it now to compare) but if my memory doesn't deceive me it was almost exactly like manga.

The thing I didn't like about the episode was the animation, I felt it was a bit poor at times and also the lack of blood, yeah, I know this is in Sunday mornings schedule in Japan but if they're already showing a severed arm and a guy pulling out a card from his arm then why no blood? it looked a bit weird to me. They should do an uncensored version or something for DVD releases. lol

On another note, I can't put my finger on why it is exactly, but I don't like the way they do Hisoka, he just doesn't look like I think he should, comparing him to his manga version. Also the way they did that shower scene was a bit strange how he was walking on his toes, who walks like that? and he didn't look as good as he did in the manga or the 1999 version, they made his hair way too curly.

Anyway, claps on this anime for not censoring the Hisoka vs Kastro fight, I liked how they handled all that complicated explanation on Hisoka's technique, this episode was really enjoyable.

I guess it would be the charging parts in DBZ. But my 2-minute-formulation may lack some sense or logic here and there.

Well... I really think that Hisoka's really, really, really gay. Other than Machi, all of Hisoka's interest/toys are in the same gender as he is.... which makes me think that Machi is so manly, Hisoka just can't help himself.

Hisoka is the creepy magican version of YYH's Toguro (and with that there are many other YYH elements appearing in HxH).
He is the type of person that enjoys fighting someone very skilled, or even someone that might be stronger than he is. He sees this potential in Gon, just like Toguro saw it in Yusuke. The difference between them though is, well, Hisoka gets turned on by that. So as Mikasa said, Power-o-sexual is a fitting term.

THe fact that Hisoka showed some interest in Machi, is in my view a good way of showing Hisoka's normal side. The one that's not obsessed with playing with people or recruiting future opponents, the one that likes women just as any other regular male.

I think that Hisoka is attracted to Machi because of her skilled nen ability in addition to her being a female, kinda Hisoka's type you'd say :P.

They mentioned at the end of the episode that Hisoka is deceiving the Phantom Troupe, the reason will be mentioned later on.

Was a great episode, like some people mentioned the fights in this show are not like other Shounens, which actually make this show unique, and there'll be lots and lots of explanations and lots of strategies.

I mean they can't just put the show anywhere, it takes money and plenty of decisions have to be made regarding what time for it to come on. The mourning reaches all age groups not only children. Also the anime would be censored regardless. Bleach got censored plenty and it came on at 6:00. So unless you want the show at midnight where no one would watch then this is what you have. Shonen properties tend to appeal to the young.

wrong, read tha chapters again he was bleeding all the time until the end of the match. He did not seal it during the battle itself. They just did this so they could get away with having no blood.

Good episode though but like I said in the last thread no chewing, it was supposed to happen at the end of last episode but instead we got a silly, "I now have motivation" line.
