Wah, this series had so much potential... the Mato IBRS Fight was slightly GAR with that big fakking ass rainbow cannon but the story and scripting itself was so weird... It IS understandable yes, but just very very bad explained. And this kills everything IMO.

Well, most of the hate towards it that I noticed (but I wasn't counting so I could be wrong) was because of the crappy scripting. The melodrama at the beginning was too over the top. I'm not saying that there isn't a person in this world that can't act that way. I'm just saying that 80% of the world can't sympathise with those problems. The later episodes tried to make up to the terrible start but it just wasn't enough and the predictable cliche ending didn't help. Many of the people that are saying it should have been longer, liked it. IMO length was just about right, IF they cut about half of the melodrama out and focused more on the actual story. It would be better paced that way (although I had no problems with that at all) and wouldn't feel so forced.

but hasn't Mato been missing to IRL?
Same thing as the OVA's ending,
how in the world does their dissappearance get explained!?!?
D:<

It doesn't. Crappy BRS scripting says hi! She just returns as if nothing happened and everyone is happy. The end. Oh, and there's a rainbow friendship power somewhere in it too. I just wonder how bad would her punishment be if she returned like that without explanation irl.

Strength sacrificed herself to get Yuu back to the real world. Saya wasn't the evil person we though she'd be either. And they live happily ever after.

Overall a pretty good series. It was a little rushed and unclear in parts, but in the end they "explained" most of is pretty nicely. The drama was a little too much at times, but the action in the other world was pretty awesome. All this makes it a 7/10 from me. Not bad, but they really could've done better.

WOW THAT WAS AMAAAAAAAAAAZING! :'''D

I really did love this anime! The animation in this episode was just... HNNNGGGH.

One question left, though- what happened to the other world? Didn't Mato, like destroy it? Did she just... change it, or something? SOMEONECLEARTHISUPPLEASE XD

Well, she somehow merged it with the real world (through the rainbow power of friendship) or at least that's what she said. But that practically means that aside from adding fancy light effects and talking fancy about a huge change nothing happened to it. All "others" are still there, it's still the other world and it's implied by BRS that the fights will still continue. So, basically, the only change is that, now, it looks shiny instead of cool.

This series was... disappointing... I was expecting so much from this! Heavy action, cool character design and an interesting plot. Too bad it only covered like 40% of the show while the rest was just annoying melodrama.

Never did I get invested in the characters, I didn't care for whatever happened to them. The only thing I enjoyed was seeing them go batshit insane because it made me crack up every time. I don't think their reactions was very realistic. Yes, I know they're supposed to be like 12 or something, but I still didn't believe them - nor care for that matter.

The animation in the real world was done so lazily. It just looked so sloppy and uninteresting... and extremely bland! The other world wasn't done better though. The background looked very good, but like many others I'm not a big fan of CGI in anime. Half the time it looked decent, but half the time I felt like I was watching a crappy cutscene from a videogame. Why didn't they use the animation from the OVA? That was amazing!

The seiyuus did a rather good job, at least for such a cheesy script. Same thing goes for the bgm - it was good, but not spectacular.

So yeah... From me Black Rock Shooter gets a 4/10. It could have been so much better, but failed thanks to the boring characters, bad script, so-so animation and too little action! I wanted to see BRS kick ass, not see little girls and their problems...

I can't decide between giving this series a 3/10 or a 4/10. Either way, it's bad >_>
Too much melodrama, sometimes incomprehensible explanations given, annoying characters (probably because of the melodrama), poor scriptwriting, threadbare plot. The only thing I actually liked about this series were the battle sequences, which were cool to watch.

I was really surprised by this series. I really wasn't expecting a lot, and I thought this would be a poor attempt to take advantage of the Black Rock Shooter OVA/Game that was out before this. But the plot was actually really complex and really interesting. Fight scenes were cool, if not over-the-top, but I didn't care.

If anyone was expecting something less than a fluffy-happy ending, they are crazy. Strength's "death" scene was rather sad, but, not surprisingly, everyone in the real world are friends now.

9/10

Nice short series. I enjoyed the series as it progressed but i still cant figure out the full plot and the character's intention so i got lost half way.
However, its unique and i enjoyed the art and music.

A rather standard, mega-cutesy ending.

This show, overall, was only okay. The art in the real world was really reeeaaaally ugly, though. The other world would have looked better, if not for the pretty crappy CGI. Story was kinda stupid, but it was a fun ride, if nothing else.

In the end, the OVA is better, and it wasn't anything to write home about to begin with. Dragged out is an understatement. Predictable ending, but no minus points for that, at least it wasn't as sugary as it could have been.

7/10 because of the other world's character design, I loved it :3!

Althoug the story was dogshit xD... too melodramatic, the animation wasn't too bad.

Supercell has done a good job at the ending, but the OST (don't know the composer) seemed to me a bit forced.
*v* Black rock shooter song at the ending!!! x3!!!

And I still prefer the OVA, which rates 10 on MAL :'3!!!

Waiting the last chapter of Another!!

Next season there won't be any interesting anime imo.

Wow, that conclusion.

So much mechanical porn with BRS' uber gun and the Rubik's cube arena. The otherworld battles were really great this time.

It ticked all the prediction boxes like the cast reunion (in both worlds) and the cookie-cutter happy ending but even-so, I enjoyed it much more than the OVA.

I almost thought they weren't going to play the BRS theme when the ED started. Imagine my joy when it came afterwards, although it was overkill to have both songs so close to each other. I just expected the full OP song at the end.

Anyway, with that ending tidbit in mind, I'd love a second season (longer and better). I'll definitely give this one a rewatch further down the line. Fucking love.

Alright, decent anime
I think I'm not the only one who expected more from this. It just didnt completely succeed.
The anime was enyojable enough to keep watching, specially because of the fights in the other world, which by the way were really good, enjoyable and graphic.
But since the first episode I was a little pissed at the attitude of everyone. The characters werent THAT enyojable and they should have had more depth than they had, specially Mato, and specially because the plot requires that.
I would have totally liked them to be older, because they arent teenagers, they are pre-teens and actually the problems that teenagers have are far deeper than that, which I think could have been a lot better and more realistic.
I got used to their drama though... it was bearable, lol.
About the ending, well I did expect that, the battle was nice by the way and I liked to see iBRS talking for the first time I think? It was epic.
Nothing outstanding besides that though.
Seems that they focused a lot more on the battles than anything. the plot was good but poorly executed...I really wanted more from this anime. Seems like im not the only one who liked the ova better than this.

5/10~

I literally watched this because im a fan of BRS, but I really wouldnt watch it again.. and also, feels like they did this anime just to shut up the fans, not for any greater reason..

Psychedelic Yuri Happy Ending. *cough*

Well, whaddya know. It's the ending I wanted to see. No, really, I'm serious. After nearly drowning in the sea of negative emotions in the first 7 episodes, they needed a nice, happy ending to balance all that.

This is an instance where I don't care that it ended predictably. In fact, I'm probably happy for once that it ended predictably. Nothing like a perfect, heartwarming ending once in a while.

It wasn't an overwhelmingly impressive ride, but it was quite enjoyable to me at least.

Wow ... this has been a very mixed bag, in my opinion.

On the one hand, the 'real world' drama seemed incredibly forced, even when it was revealed Saya was manipulating them to blow their problems out of all proportion. In fact, we don't think we ever found out why Saya was doing so in the first place, unless she really thought she was helping people by driving them insane. So when everything wrapped up nicely, I was left more confused than ever.

On the other hand, the fight sequences were AMAZING. Incredible CGi work on this show. The fights were the most memorable part of the OVA as well, but at times through this high-school melodrama seeing BRS kick ass in the 'color world' was the only reason I kept tuning in. That and the (vain) hope that this would somehow make sense in the end.

Overall, I'd give it 7/10. It could've been so much better if it'd been written properly.
