| comparing all the manga that i've read.. i think the style in shounen is usually better (maybe thats why i always read it, because i can't read a manga with art that i don't like). And i generally like the stories for shounen. and im a girl.. ^^ |

| I love shōnen. Most of what I watch and read is shōnen, and while I know that a lot of it is incredibly formulaic, that's one of the things I love about it. The quirks make the demographic a fandom of its own and it's what makes shōnen shōnen. But one of the biggest reasons that I'm not so much into shōjo is because I cannot stand romance no thanks to a friend of mine who has killed it for me (as well as lots of bad fanfiction), and while I won't say that all shōjo is about romance, the fact that I dislike romance makes it that much harder for me to tolerate the formulas. Forget about tolerating formulas that might be about romance for tons and tons of series just to find the good ones! If I venture outside of my favored demographic it's usually because it's a series that was recommended to me. But, even if it's a good series, I still am not likely find myself obsessing about shōjo titles like I do about shōnen titles because shōjo just isn't for me. The one exception seems to be Nodame Cantabile, which is actually a jōsei and not a shōjo and it's a beautiful, beautiful series at that, but the main reason I picked it up in the first place was because I can never get enough of manga about music since I am able to relate to the characters so well. |

| My girlfriend read shounen and I read shoujo too, its nice for us share conversations about a manga. And i'm with the opinion that the genre is not too important like the history of the characters, that's are for me the important points in a manga |

| Of course I read shounen! What would be of me without it?! Shounen's usually have a lot of bishounens in it and enjoyable art styles. Besides, a girl needs a bit of blood and guns from time to time. I don't think a girl liking shounen stuff is that strange. |

| Mostly of the manga I read are shounen actually. They are often more interesting, for me. Even though I like a wide variety of manga genres. I can't stand girls who read ONLY shoujo manga, focusing only on this genre. Also because I hate the 80% of shoujo mangas. There are some that I really love (like Nana and Full Moon Wo Sagashite), but I don't like the majority of them, especially the fucking boring love triangle stories. The biggest defect of the shoujo mangas is usually the female protagonist (often common and stupid), and obviously the constant "love love" mood that is in the air. It's annoying and makes me sick. The most important things in a manga are the art, a good story, and the characters. If I hate one of this aspects, I can't read a manga. |

| Of course ! My favorites manga are usually shounen. It's difficult to find good shoujo manga, most of them seem to be aimed toward 12 years old girls. Who in real life, wait one year to kiss someone ! It's getting on my nerves. Well there is some good shoujo too. Shounen is more entertaining usually, often longer too. And I love the fighting ! |

That said, I love shonen. Not Naruto and Bleach so much, but a lot of my favorite manga are Shonen Jump titles. Considering Yu Yu hakusho is from 1998 i dont know if thats a very good example these days and kurama is awesome D: im not a girl but i dont see a problem with girls reading shonen or seinen. I read some Shoujo and i dont see anything wrong with that. |

| Speaking in general (in Japan, at least)... It's not weird or uncommon for a girl to read shonen. (Everyone likes Shonen Jump.) But on the other hand, if you are a guy and reading shojo (except for a few really famous series), you'll be marked as weird. |
