Anything Debussy writes is fantastic and really pretty. Ravel was a composer closely affiliated with Debussy and his style, but wrote a lot more technically difficult and less predictable music. Early Schoenberg wrote some pretty over-the-top romantic but crunchy-sounding stuff (he would later be infamous for leading a musical movement filled with dissonance). And of course, some oldies but goodies like Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, etc. are always great. I'll give you some links for if/when you have the time to check them out!

What do you usually listen to?

I actually found the first 6 or so episodes incredibly slow. I was tempted to drop it, haha. Not meaning to reuse the roller coaster comparison, but it really was just a slow rise that thankfully dropped like no one's business afterwards. If you like what you're seeing now you're in for a treat in a few episodes.

Thanks! I've heard a lot of great things about Mononoke and Technolyze but that may have just given me the push I needed to actually start them. I've seen screencaps from Mononoke and the art looks stunning and unique, and I'm always a sucker for that. I'm fascinated that Pale Cocoon is only 23 minutes long; I guess the only experience I've had with sci-fi one-off OVAs is Mars of Destruction and its arguably even worse kin, so I'm pumped to see someone do it right.

Yeah Brotherhood was a bit of a letdown after all the hype, but what can one do against hype? It's almost as though you have to watch obscenely popular shows as fast as possible before the endless masses singing their praises start to construct an image of them in your head as the Valhalla of storytelling. I guess that's true for almost anything, but I find it affects me most with anime. The indomitable force of expectations affects all appreciation to some degree.

Wow, you have insanely good taste. I'm not usually one to leave substanceless comments like this on random people's walls, but that's just some absolutely top-notch taste right there (of course that's subjective, it just means I more or less agree with you on I think absolutely everything we've both seen.)

Any recommendations? Besides Lain and Bebop of course, I gonna get around to watching those soon regardless. Also have fun with Shin Sekai Yori, it's one of my all-time favs.

I've always wondered if anyone ever clicked my links, haha. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's one of my favorite pieces right now. Are you a big fan of classical music?

Also, looks like you're watching Shinsekai yori. Prepare for a roller coaster of everything.

I see. I don't know much about vidya games, and I know even less about computer games and their creators, so I thought it was from your father's Vegas sexcapade or something along those lines.

My picture is from a manga called "Coffee Jikan" by Toyoda Tetsuya. Edaniel of MAL says "His stories are not sophisticated but remain to be incredibly realistic, calm, and charming." The handsome man who is speaking would be Antonio Morelli, an Italian film director from the book. I won't tell you the whole quote, because I don't want to spoil that moment for you.

Antonio and I have been through a lot, and we really take great pleasure in living in the moment. It's my favorite profile picture to date and I hope the rare user who happens upon my profile will enjoy it, despite the lack of context.

What's going on in that picture? I can't seem to take my eyes off of it.

yeah sure, it's fan-art for the manga Dorohedoro. (http://myanimelist.net/manga/1133/Dorohedoro)

it is a bit odd of a manga, but one of my favorites.
a good mixture of mystery, violence, adventure and comedy. great characters, too.

Hi,
I have finally send you the photos (I got some problems with that, so hopefully you will get it, if not, tell me, and I will find another way). I would be definitely interested in the ghost city, as well as in the lake :)

I´m watching GitS right now (completed original movie - which was best imo - SAC, watching SAC 2nd gig. Movies Innocence and Solid State Society tommorow). I see you have rated SAC 2nd gig pretty low, how so? I find it even better than SAC. Motoko is not so emotionless (that´s the only problem about her and makes her kinda unrealistic, still I like her. It´s nice to see a mature woman, not some loli kids ...) and Kuze is excellent and interesting "enemy". The story is not so deep as in SAC, yet interesting and the refugee problem is actual and somewhat touching ...

Hitch-hiking was ... fun heh. It was during my trip in Czech country side. I did not catch the last bus, so this was the only way to find my way home (I was in a hurry). After half an hour stepping right next to the highway with my thumb up, a nerdy guy take me and I spent about 2 hours in his car I guess. Nice experience, but it´s much more interesting to base a whole trip on hitch-hiking, don´t you think so? That guy I was talking about hitch-hiked from Czech Republic to India (through the continent). Then he spent few months there and went back. Just plain crazy I would say. And pretty scary too - imagine going through Pakistan´s semi-desert in an old car with people you do not know, nor understand.

I´m glad you like Onanie, the end is much weaker tho ...
japonecka Oct 9, 2010 2:24 AM
oh, and I forgot: good you are reading Onanie Master Kurosawa. Great fun, resemble Great Teacher Onizuka. Definitely the best "better-than-it-sounds" ever :)

Heya!
It´s finally a weekend. Well I´m not an extroverted person you know. But in the end it turned out pretty well, school does consume pretty much time, but it is not as bad as I imagined :) What about you?

Nope I have not seen Dexter, but few of my friends recommended it. hope you enjoyed that horror. "The Exorcist" really is a good movie. I remember when I watched it for the first time and I was like: "What the hell ... ?!"

Well if I resemble some of my favourites: it´s hard to decide, but I guess "Epsilon", but I don´t have so long hair also I wear glasses :) when it comes to nature ... eh ... maybe little more dirty Hajime from Hiroki Endo´s Tanpenshu :D

I see you have completed Mononoke, what do you think about it? I also like Kusuriuri (I absolutely like how slowly he talks and how his smile is drawed). I think best episodes were: the woman who created her own prison, olfactive episode and the last one. Though the art is shiny (I´m amazed by that, guess only Gankutsou can compare to it) the general atmosphere is really dark and horror like.

Nope I have not tried it yet. I have hitch-hiked in past, but I did not try to get to some random distant palce. But I know about guy who hitch-hiked to India ^^ which sounds dsomewhat unbelieveable for me ...

I will definitely send you some photos of Prague :) just wait a little, I think winter photos would set the mood.

Ahoj,
How are you? Has school already started for you? I will start next week, so I´m enjoying last days of freedom (sigh ... meeting new people who will chat about some unimportant things and will try to be friendly). I have completed few movies I wanted to watch for a long time. "Dead Man" with Johnny Depp, "Seppuku" and "Black Cat, White Cat" by Kosturica. Tommorow I would like to watch "Yurika". What about you, something catched your attention?
I have finally obtained "Blade of the Immortal artbook" - I was left deaf and blank - the drawing is really beautiful. Samura Hiroaki is genius!

One Piece is rather boring up to now. Few of my friends said it´s pretty good from 300. chapter. It has some good moments still it´s mediocry for me now. There are definitely better manga series.

Just curious, do you somehow resemble (act like, look like) some of your favourite characters?

Godspeed You! are godlike band. Love them, yet I can´t listen to them all day long.

Another great band is Mono

Btw have you ever tried hitch-hiking to some far place?
