Have about both?
As long as the anime is enjoyable, everything is fine for me.

I've got plenty of both in my favorites. Though my favorite anime is a long arc type.

Both have their merits. Episodic shows can be relaxing, while shows with long arcs can be engaging. If I had to choose one, I'd choose the long arcs.

Episodic, long arcs get boring after about 10 episodes, imo.

It depends on what genre the anime is, the reason why I didn't like Cowboy Bebop that much is precisely because it was episodic, however I really liked Aria and that's as episodic as you can get, in fact Mushishi is even more so.

So it really depends, but on the whole I prefer longer arcs.

I don't like my anime to be episodic. Stories that last about 26 episodes are what I want.

I really don't care at this point. Quality is quality. But, if I have to choose, I suppose I generally prefer a continuous storyline. So arc based, I guess.

I prefer either, but I feel in episodic it can be too short. Then in long arc sometimes it just drags on forever about something I could care less about.

My favorite are long complex storylines like Monster. Though length really isn't the issue. I just want a story that starts near the beginning and goes strong until the show ends.

Like I guess Gintama has some. Arcs that are only 2 - 5 episodes long.

Depends....

Some episodic anime is great but in general fulls story arcs or a full epic story is better.

I prefer longer story arcs.

Episodic shows don't usually make me want to see what happens next.

Both. Gintama is episodic and also has mini arcs (and an actual story behind the MC) and it's one of my favorites. I also enjoy a few anime with long arcs.

I prefer an story on it, and episodic anime like Natsume, xxxholic, Danshi No kioukousei cowboy bebop ( most of it ) I don't like so much, i don't like fillers in general... I like character development and story, when an anime is episodic is difficult to see the character growing and the story on it.

I can watch some of them maybe, but they are not my favorites.

Gintama is episodic with arcs, and for me arcs are amazing, while the fillers or episodes without sense usually bores me. For example I loved so hard that 3rd season of Gintama, it was amazingly epicness!

I like longer arcs better, it makes me more excited for the next episode (if the anime alone is exciting, that is).

They're good for different things. Thus neither is inherently better than the other.

I truly enjoyed Kuro no Keiyakusha with its 2 episode arcs, even though you don't really notice it's episodic because if feels like the episodes are leading you to a final big climax as they did.

Ongoing plots, by default, but just because something consists of arc doesn't mean it's good, you gotta dig more :)

Bleach and OP tend to be episodic since some arcs are plot-less
and feel like they've lead nowhere, while it doesn't need to be leading to the biggest thing ever, I'd appreciate it if the arc, at least had a point as a standalone one. (fullbring anyone)

Couldn't stand Samurai champloo after 12 episodes of NOTHING, I liked episode 2, and stayed for 12 episodes to see something similar, and each episode was... leading nowhere.

Dropped cowboy bebop 2 instants in, I just knew it was episodic crap.

Black Lagoon might have been fun but I just don't bother googling it :P

These are the 3 ones I even considered.

I'm not a big fan of anime with with 1 or 2 story arcs, but Samurai Champloo did it perfect, imo.

I like on-going plot the most of course, but shows with 4-5 story arcs are fine too.

I tend to prefer arcs over episodic.
The latter can sometimes have less story development...It's hard to explain, but I tend to enjoy anime that employ arcs more because it seems like threads of the story come together more easily...

That's really vague and probably didn't make much sense. Anyway, arcs.

Most of the anime I watch has 12-13 episodes, so this usually isn't even a problem.
