Fairly good episode, though I didn't really understand why he had to be shot by Tetsuro if he would turned into a fossil anyway. Maybe one day they would have been cured, but now he is really dead :/
Still, this was an interesting 2 episodes~

I always love when the instrumental version of the ending plays. Nice episode, though I didn't really care for all the fighting and the final getaway from the cloud.

Why is Maetel concerned about Tetsuro so much that she'd rather be fossilized than ride without him? Of course we know that she is ordered by some mysterious man and doesn't have much of a choice, but still, the only person I can think of that would do that is... Tetsuro's mother. Yes, we know all too well that she was shot by Cyborg-Duke in episode 1, but then Maetel appears out of nowhere and tells that she found Tetsuro "by chance" (and has a couple of passes his mother dreamt about - also by chance, I guess). We also know that her "dearest friend" died on Pluto (Tetsuro's father maybe? But he should have stayed on Earth), that Ryuuzu and Maetel know each other and Ryuuzu "can't get" Maetel into her hands, and that Tsuru and Suru's father from unstable planet Nuruva figured out who Maetel is without much trouble. Also, Antares confirmed that Maetel is "really human" (but her body will be "reduced to atoms" if she violates the orders). Even Maetel's name sounds similar to Latin "Mater", which means "Mother". I'm probably mistaken, though, but that's the best I could think of for now
The main question here is if Maetel was looking for Tetsuro specifically or for any young boy. Because if it's later, then what I said above clearly is not the case

Close escape and quite a nice episode in general i must say! That ending sure was touching, all in all I do wonder what they'll face on their journey next!

Damn, I wonder why they're so strict with the 999 rules or just for the sake of creating stakes?

Was a pretty nice two parter again. Hope Tetsuro won't forget these two.

How to deal with death? Once again the show portraying a person who died, but was grateful for Tetsurou. However, in this episode it was different. Even though he was an enemy, the character's compassion saved him. The kind heart saved him from his sad fate. At least the warrior will be by his beloved's side forever.

At least that man was with his girlfriend in the end, as sad as it was. Even if the planet's fossilization could be reversed, she would awaken to find her boyfriend dead, which would be bad as well.

The 999 barely got out of there in time.

such a great episode. love the planet with the statues and the roving gangs trying to make money off them! feels like matsumoto had their finger on the pulse of the times writing a lot of this stuff.
