| I won't drink anymore. I swear. Pretty cool ability though, but I wonder how they got them, because Ginjou said it's "their" power, so everyone's is the same. Chad looks lame with the beard, but at least it looks like he has some important role in this arc. Oh, and if Ginjou is not a shinigami, where did he get that badge? Btw it's pretty much confirmed now that it was Ginjou's group that attacked Ishida, since that guy used the same type of power as well. Also wondering why the heck would they want to give Ichigo back his shinigami powers, but of yourse Kubo had to go and say "the whole night is ors, let's chat a bit" before telling us anything. |

| bullshit. souls for everything! (it's a holiday sale! get 1 and we'll give u 10 for free!) . if that was the case soul society would have TVs and phones that "died" and shit (joke) The only reason they have that power is to somehow pull Ichigos soul out ,"fix" it and even make it stronger. Otherwise their power would have been explained differently. Oh well... Their powers are interesting but the explanation how they work killed it for me. Also why do they all have the same power? do they have some kind of blood of some clan (let's say like quincy(?)?). Chad being the "mystery" guy was obvious from the first page (just saying a fact. not saying it was bad). Him being "drafted" was actually nice. Made me wonder why they slashed Ishida up and got Chad to join?(maybe they offered but for whatever reason Ishida disliked their motives and tried to fight?) Also they probably will get in contact with Orihime soon. Even though Ichigo acted all cool and shit about not having his powers ,the second he heard he could possibly get them back he jizzed himself. Only two questions come to mind. How and why? As to why I think they will ask Ichigo to help them go against soul society (before giving his powers back) Ichigo will be shocked, they will give out some facts witch will make SS look bad. Ichigo won't know who to trust but the idea to get his powers back will be greater and he will agree. Just a theory though LOL (because we haven't seen anything from SS for a while :)) Random questions and theories below :D And how did Isshin get his powers back? well i think they just come back after time naturally but that's just my guess. Since Isshin knew about FGT (and was probably how he lost his powers) does that mean Ichigo has the same sword as his Isshin did? When they fought Aizen Isshin didn't use any powers from his sword (did he?) Also what happened to Grimmjow and Nel? They didn't die. And Gin? When he died(?) he didn't leave his body did he? What are the vizard up to? Did Hyori die (i doubt that)? Since the sole purpose of their lives the past 100 years was to fight (kill) aizen. Will they be satisfied with him being just sealed? How are they going to make Kenpachi stronger? He can't get a shikai or bankai because that would destroy his character IMO. Will that little girl ever grow (the one with purple hair, who hangs on kempachi?) Is Kubo saving all the bankais ( like Yamamotos and Ukitakes) for final battle with Ichigo or is there a possibility that we won't ever see them? Is Kuchiki Ginrei in the zero squad? Do people who go to the zero squad are as strong as Yama??? But what I'm most interested in is Shunsuis bankai :D Ukitake said he should use his bankai where people can see it (i'm assuming Ukitake knows what shunsuis bankai is. Maybe he's the only one who can stop him after he releases his bankai?) |

| wow people are never happy. This was awesome chapter and the pacing was good. Now for those who complain about objects having souls, i suggest taking a look into shintoism and overall japanese folklore. The concept is widelly used in japanese fiction(for example xxxholic had countless story arcs based on the souls of innanimate objects like zither) Overall chapter added a lot of questions: - riruka's "talking with yourself" line -constant usage of crescent moon in every chapter. - so xcution IS similar to quincoes, who absorb spiritual particles from enviroinment. They also are similar to shinigami who can pull out and reign over live souls. -those who complain about innanimate souls not going to ss-well, fo one things do never die, for second those souls do not have consciousness that can be understood by everyone but their owner. Anyway, 5/5 |

Quincy crosses are passed from generation to generation. not to mention remember how chad was able to take a telephone pole and actually DAMAGE hollow with it back in the very start of this manga? Even rukia was surprised, because usual things should not damage them in real world. and that was before he got his powers. foreshadowing? Ichigo's looks being exactly the same as before signifies that he is unable to move on. while everything has passed, he literally still lives in his past as shinigami. Everyone moved on, distancing themselves from Ichigo just the same as Ichigo distanced himself from them. In a sense timeskip happened to everyone BUT Ichigo as Ichigo, both mentally and spiritually is still lagging behind, longing for what he lost(his regretful "well I always wanted to be powerless, I guess I got what I wanted" line at the start of timeskip says it all) Notice that Ichigo does not go "nah i dont want powers" in this chapter? He just asks on how and why. Its because that while in the past he MIGHT have wanted to be normal. Now he is the only one normal and despising his inability to do anything. once Ichigo regains the powers and starts living in "present", his looks will to be changed. |

Anyway, 5/5 I actually agree with you. I loved the chapter....I never even thought there was going to be a chapter this week, but boy was I wrong. I was like holy shit the entire time. And to ppl saying the plot moves slow...didn't Kubo just say that he's going to keep bleach going for at least 10 more years....so yeah....pimpsmack' right off the bat. and did he just give Chad a badass atmosphere? :o |

There are many legends about Swords made by extremelly crafty blacksmith masters gaining the will of their own or blades possessing their owner to carry on their deeds. Japanse culture is full of mythos about possessed wind-chimes, zithers, clothes, temples, housings, forests, cemeterys, stones, and etc. As well as stories of extraordinary swordsmen unable to fight without their weapon, Forces of natures embodied by strange entities, wind sea and fire being alive. Even tachings, beliefs or techniques having the will of their own. Not to mention that since very start we had objects with souls - swords. sure its created from one's own soul, but its still inanimate object that has a soul inside. Knowledge is power, it also helps you to not look stupid or ignorant. If you were watching a movie it would be "oh well", but you are reading manga created in japan by japanese people for japanese audience, translated by people who know and are interested in japanese language and commenting on website for people who are interested in manga(which again means interest in japanese stuff), vnovels(which again means interested in japanese stuff) and so on. NOt to mention that you are reading a manga which heavilly relies on japanese folklore, traditions and ideas. @Frosti Yes, according to the belief system defined above, your computer has a soul, it only has the will of its own if it was built by a person who was master of its art and it will only make you kill stuff if its creator had an evil intent or the soul of your computer was tainted with killing intent in the process of creation. It also would tend to take a form of talisman that embodies its existance and visit its owners or their successors in their dreams to express themselves, punish others or for purelly no reason understandable for humans. If you work with evil intent and in perfect synchronicity with it and suddenly die it will haunt the place it is in forever till someone cleanses it. and so on. |

Spirit defines a conscious spiritual being. either the reason a living being lives or already departed part of once living being. Thus spirit is implied to be the "conscious" thing. Soul on other hand is the "animating principle"of all things, the essence, which implies unconscious energy, which fits more for inanimate things |

| Oh you're very right about Japanese creationism and souls etc. I'm well aware of things like a swordsman's blade taking in part of his soul. Or the soul of a woman who loved a certain wind-chime very much, to the point that her soul entered the object. Like you said, it's all very common stuff in Japanese storytelling. But it's not like every single thing ever has a soul in it. It's usually tied to the strong will, or mastery of the creator. Or because a special event is tied into it. But fucking asphalt? Alcohol I can understand, but FUCKING ASPHALT? Bleach does this all the time. No wait, it's the blind fanboys. They just drag in stuff from Japanese mythologies/story telling and go SEE! That explains it! But no, if you want to add something like this to your story it is something that should both aknowledged by the author and the story itself. I would be perfectly content with an excuse like, Everything in SS has a soul, since it kinda works with what we already know, but you don't just drag something like this out from nowhere and expect people to buy it. This is just another excuse for Kubo to pull some bullshit at a later point and never actually having to explain stuff because his readers will do it for him. There is nothing wrong with having a story speak for itself, and a good writer doesn't have to explain every little detail, it's perfectly fine to leave some stuff open to interpretation. But you at least have to provide a good basis to do this on, because let's be fair here, about 80% of all the stuff you so very much believe in, is based on nothing but your own interpretation. And without any acknowledgment from the author thats just as true and valuable as the typical "Oh lawd Kubo is such a troll xD xD Smilieface" Which is something I detest just as much, if not more. |

Well those parts are made important because mosty of shinto focuses on the japanese older culture and it being caried over from generation to generation. However the essential teachings name everything as having a soul. What you are thinking sis a spirit. a conscious spiritual being. hence ethe whole folklore of wood, water spirits, etc. Its very highly animistic religion. There are rituals when building shrines, cutting new forest, starting to build roads, founding cities, etc. Even the pagan sub-religions in western countries have certain elements of animism, when it comes to building houses. In a sense, the main idea of shintoism is that everything has a soul and one should n ot be overly bothered by that because its normal and accepted fact. One, however should honor the traditions when the world requires it and pay respects in various cases, according to traditions. You are not required to do some outrageously huge ritual or act with asphalt as hindu people do with cows. You are required to honor a house/shrine.temple you are building, same with roads, metro lines. There are rituals held that are accepted as part of shintoism. materials are purified before being shipped into building sites, there are ceremonies at certain stages of building and so on. So yes, while certain things are respected more, the general idea of shintoism is that everything is, in a sense, with a soul. And yes Kubo does acknowledge it. The title of chapter is "Soul Pantheism". Pantheism is in itself the root philosophy behind shintoism, stating that god is universe. every smallest part of matter and everything that exists is a god and is a soul in itself, forming the universe itself. Shintoism is a mix of animism(forces of nature having will and soul and needing a ritual) and pantheism(everything around us has a soul and that is acknowledged as normal fact of universe). Had chapter title NOT contained the defining word of those religions and title of defining philosophy of this religion, then I would agree with you And yes, "lolol kubo trolls" meme is getting old. Its not argument, hell it does not EVEN FIT most of times when someone tries to use it. |
