When vegetables start tasting like bacon, steak, and chicken, and provide me with the nutrients to keep my manly muscles, manly muscles; I will go vegetarian...probably. The animals might have to start talking in human speak too. Not just mimicry because I will still eat a parrot but I mean if I can sit down and have a nice talk with an adorable baby penguin then I won't want to eat it...probably.

I just... don't... like it.
It's always been that way, and I'm yet to change back. I have my lame reasons, I'll usually get trolled for it irl either way

Because it tastes good and has a rather unique flavor basically. I do dip into various meat substitutes occasionally but honestly nothing beats the real thing.

Unless they can make a meat substitute that comes from a living creature, I doubt that would be possible for my part.

I've been having moral issues regarding meat for a while, but I couldnt image myself becoming vegetarian because I liked it so much. But one day I asked myself, what IS it with meat's taste that I like? I realised that I find it pretty tasteless, the meat I like is always seasoned and it's the spices I liked, rather than the meat itself. So now I rarely eat meat anymore and I don't miss it! and I feel so much better than I did before.
I'm honest but you got to watch me a little

I like meat because I am human, and humans are natural omnivores.

If a subsitute could be made that tasted EXACTLY like meat, that'd be great. But I really don't think there's a complete substitute for flesh. Not yet anyways.

Lol at the retards earlier who thought bananas were high in protein.

In fact, protein is the number one nutrient missing from the average vegetarian's diet according to health specialists. Sure they can get protein from milk, nuts, lentils, etc but a lotta people don't eat that stuff or nearly enough of it.

1) You don't have to eat meat, there's no magical nutrient that only exists in meat.
2) It's more environmental friendly if we kill off the meat production.
3) I eat meat because it's what I'm served.

This really isn't an argument at all. As you said, it's easy to get protein in a vegetarian diet if you're eating right. Meat has virtually no vitamins and much less minerals than you find in plants, so a non-vegetarian tends to be low on many more nutrients than the average vegetarian if they avoid fruits and vegetables. Both camps can be perfectly healthy if they watch what they eat, but remember that the foundation of any healthy diet is an abundance of fruits and vegetables with "meat" (and non-flesh protein sources) in considerably smaller amounts. Link for those of you worried about your "manly muscles" without meat.

Animals taste good. That being said our bodies are hard wired to crave fats, sugars, and salts, rare naturally occurring substances. Also eating meat along with vegetables keeps you much healthier than a pure vegetable diet.

Meat is muscles. So I like that my meat lets me move my arms and legs. And walk around and stuff.
It lets me play guitar and use a computer and all sorts of nice things.

I am really grateful I have meat.

Have any of you ever gone out to a farm and seen the big black evil bull?
Or witnessed a person get trampled by swine? Or seen deer eat a garden
that you have been slaving over for months? Well, if you have,
you may have had a sudden urge to kill that animal. :) but meat tastes sooooo good....
and most animals are mean, so why not kill them?

lol bullshit statistics are bullshit. Anyways I'm vegetarian, and it's not because of that 'oh the poor animals' bullshit, I'm vegetarian because my body just runs better off of plants than meat. Although I'll still eat shrimp, and maybe alligator(if you've never had it I recomend it), and I kinda wanna try dolphin. As the saying goes, the smarter the animal the tastier.

The FAO report found that current production levels of meat contribute between 14 and 22 percent of the 36 billion tons of "CO2-equivalent" greenhouse gases the world produces every year.

I don't personally think your average human is all that smart, but from what I hear human is alright. I've heard mixed opinions on texture. But I've also heard you can get some jittery nervous disorder thing from it, like mad cow disease for people, but that's eating it on regular basis. To answer youre question though, I might, I have no morals about it, but something about them doesn't seem all that appealing, but eating human would be like a once in a lifetime oportunity.

This is true but these meat demands reflect on population growth .So you can't really say that Animal production is really the Top contributor to carbon emissions.

Get me 7 other links about it that can't be connected to each other, and aren't funded or found by some evironmentalist site and are on a scientific site with shit other than the evironment. Then maybe we'll talk. Either way I still won't give a shit what meat does, I don't eat it but other people do, I don't care what they do.

It's the taste mostly but also the texture. I go vegetarian twice a month and it's really difficult sometimes because veggies and tofu don't have the saltiness of meat and nothing really has the texture of biting into a piece of meat, feeling the resistance and tearing off a piece. By tearing, I mean like the tugging I have to do with beef jerky or a steak where I actually have to use my front teeth to rip it and not just mash stuff with molars, like vegetables.

I know when midnight hits, I usually go straight for a bag of beef jerky but during my vegetarian days, I'm okay with "tricking" myself with the saltiness from roasted seaweed packets. The texture's too much like a chip, though.

I find it funny how people who point out this statistic totally disregard the fact there's a difference between factory farmed meat and naturally grazed meat. Naturally grazed meat circulate a lot of their carbon when they're properly managed and they pump carbon from the atmosphere into the biosphere rather than the meat itself simply omitting greenhouse gases. The irony here is that livestocks actually HELP carbon levels in the atmosphere and biosphere and gives a good balance to it.

The real problem is factory made meat - which quite frankly should always be monitored. It makes no sense at all to say that meat itself causes Co2 problems.

@Bostonblows: Climate change is a certainty, and is the direct result of global warming. Carbon dioxide from cow and pig shit is surprisingly significant (because of massive commercial farming) but really miniscule next to the output of coal burning power plants. Please check out any research not funded by people who make money polluting your air and you'll notice a surprising growth trend that just happens to coincide with the industrial revolution.

I'm a big meat lover myself. Humans are made to eat it, and not having any in your diet is difficult to manage. Humans are at the top of the food chain thanks to science, and it's a natural instinct for humans to crave meat. I've been finding fish is a lot healthier than all the beef and chicken though -- omega-3 acids actually lower your cholesterol which make it a better staple food than prime steak every night (though I do love me some marbled meats). I have a weakness for jerky in all forms too. As long as you watch your salt intake and don't eat it every day, meat is healthy as anything else.

I am a banana.

Ya know the planet Venus? It's a steaming acidic hellhole because its atmosphere is made mainly of greenhouse gasses like CO_2. What these gasses do is trap in sunlight, thereby heating up the planet. Greenhouse gasses are a good thing. If we didn't have a degree of greenhouse gasses in Earth's atmosphere, the planet would be a lot colder and very uncomfortable for its present life forms. However, if the proportion of greenhouse gasses is thrown off balance drastically, Earth can get closer and closer to looking like Venus.

Yes, climate change happens naturally, but I don't see how it's so difficult to grasp that humans actively pumping tons (and I mean weight, not the expression) greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere is affecting the gas proportions in our atmosphere to a degree that isn't natural. This is happening at a rate that the Earth may not naturally be able to process; too fast for the currently evolved life forms to be able to adapt to the changes. This is compounded with every other kind of pollution that's wreaking havoc on natural ecosystems.

What's even more disturbing than that, though, is that there's tons (expression + weight) of decaying biological matter buried under the ice caps. If those parts of the ice caps melt, it will release a catastrophic amount of methane gas (much more potent than CO_2) all at once (instead of more gradually as would happen with purely natural climate change) and could create an irreversible snowball effect in the atmosphere, a greenhouse effect gone wild.
