Ruining the industry? Oh please, Free fansubs are free.
thats exactly the point?...

No it's not. They are not like films. The fansubs are free because they are only licensed in japan not anywhere else. That's a copyright law not an internet issue on piracy destroying the industry, the industry is doing fine if it wasn't there would be like 50 new anime each season and HUNDRED of manga.

the anime industry is not in jeopardy and it's not being destroyed by fansubs. Besides the RELY on fansubs to do the translation do you know how expensive it is to get translators in? that actually does eat into the profits of a company.

I don't know your an narrow minded elitist that thinks the world should be a certain way because everything is ok for you. But it's not like that everywhere in the world and not every one is privileged enough to spend that kind of money on things.

Just stop. Because you wont every see it from the other perspective or are willing to. So you just come off sounding ignorant and stupid.

Well, I do appreciate the ideas of freedom and privacy. However, we also need security and protection of intellectual property. That's why we need to have a good balance of freedom and security. But any moves that would result in infringement of basic freedoms and privacy for security is unacceptable. As Benjamin Franklin puts it:

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

But who knows, ACTA might either save the anime industry by giving more enforcement against Internet piracy, or ACTA can be a tool that can be used to silence opinions.

of course... that is why you learn how to crack networks, and use other peoples internet ... :P it ain't like a WEP is hard to get around, or hell even WPA2 Enterprise can be done, although it takes a while of packet sniffing to crack.

Spoofing your MAC + Cracking that WEP + going through several Proxys... bring it on suckers... :P (like seriously, I would love to see if they could actually catch you, and I mean, if they tried to monitor the network directly maybe... but you could also arp poison the hell outta the network and monitor web traffic yourself for irregularities (or just mess with them), and change the networks you use regularly) When you are paranoid enough, nothing is too much.. ;)

if you noticed, I clearly said you can even crack WPA2 Enterprise... the moral of the story, if they have a wireless network that is broadcasting, I can crack it... don't care what security they got going on. (Afterall, my local universities network was a sinch to crack, and they are a bit better than most peoples neighbors)

Further proof the the internet is going to get a universal censor. If all that drama over Mangafox taught us anything, it's that Google owns our collective internet asses. Now that they've successfully negotiated with one nation, they know that they can hand over complete control of our internet to the government.

I will say this, even if they go crazy with censoring and killswitches and monitoring and all this other garbage, what will probably happen is the greatest wave of piracy the world has ever seen.
Note that I use the word "piracy" loosely, because technically this wouldn't piracy.

Even if the government started monitoring everyone's internet usage, why the hell would they shut off someone's internet for watching anime that hasn't been released in America? They're not losing money over it. I don't really care what happens, but fuck if they're going to take my music. DX

Maybe that's because that if you don't know how to use internet you shouldn't be bothered by it. Goddamn thing can be found in 20 seconds.
Also, it's an official document so I wish you luck trying to figure it out as a layman.
