That story about the wolve sand Rovel almost sounded silly. Rafilia's 'rivalry' with Ellen was kinda silly imo. That caught me off guard.

Finally though, that warning Ellen gave this episode sounded serious. She was determined to make a point.

I don't have any compassion for the prince even with Ellen giving him this cold and harsh treatment. It's in his own interest.

Wow so Ellen and Rafilia really never met each other before, what a weird family. What was the King's plan if it succeeded? Is he trying marry his son to Ellen? or capture her?

I do feel bad for the Prince, since his dad seems to be evil (maybe), but idk why Ellen is so hostile to him. Personally I think the "generational sin" stuff is dumb (Is the Prince suppose to go back in time and stop his ancestor or something?) and he didnt have anything to do with the kidnapping. I also find it odd that Ellen is kinda threatening to not help sick citizens in order to get back at the royal family. They sure like that "guilt by association".

This whole "Sins of Your Father" thing is becoming stale, if you ask me. Cursing people who had nothing to do with it except by blood descent is amazingly dull thinking. Ellen, at least, should rise above it.

Why are we treating Gadiel like shit? Also, the burden of proof is on the accuser, not the accused. You can’t prove a negative. The royal family wouldn’t be able to prove something didn’t happen because if it didn’t happen, there’s no proof. Ellen is just unnecessarily cruel to Gadiel. She knows more than anyone how kind he truly is as she saw him at the spirit festival. I get being rude to Hume about the medicine because people of this world shouldn’t know about modern earth stuff, but the Gadiel situation upsets me.I’m not saying the king didn’t abduct Rafilia, just the thought process is flawed.

Deep down I think Ellen does want to reach out to Gadiel as we saw her kinda struggle to leave the room as he was talking, but she’s afraid of that curse. The royal family are still doing stupid shit. They need Gadiel leading the charge to get them on the right path, but given the king is young, it’ll be a long time. I want my ship to sail so bad tho lol.

Rafilia teasing Ellen about her height and chest size had me cracking up. She’s such a brat. She should’ve been quiet and thankful that they even came to save her ass. It’s crazy that Ellen had never even met her cousin tho. No wonder she didn’t know what she looked like last week. That sort of disconnect is exactly why there’s so much drama in this family. As the only two daughters, they should be closer.

Sad this only has one ep left

@Sheol01 I think ppl misunderstood something...

The one cursing the royal family was not the current spirit, but the dead spirit from back then. You can say that the dead spirit of the past still lingers in the royal family lineage. In fact, there's nothing the current spirit (that incl. Ori as well) can do abt it even if they want to.

The thing with Ellen being hostile with the denka... she's not being hostile to him actually, which is why she tried to patiently explain the current situation to him. The main issue is with the king, it doesn't matter if the two decided to be friends or even lovers at this point, as long as the two are keeping contact with each other, the king can always find a way to use their relationship as a weak point/leverage/political hook for his own plot. And that's why even if the prince is innocent, they are forced to keep a distance from him. Ellen didn't blame him, she tried to make him understand that him trying to keep contact with the Vankreift can actually endanger the Vankreift instead.

Abt Ellen and Rafilia, ppl might not remember this, but Rafilia was accepted into the family just right before Ellen and the king's meeting for the 1st time, where the curse took affect and her passing out as the result. Ever since then, she's been recuperating in the spirit world, cut off from the human realm. Ellen just returned to the human realm very recently, and immediately got caught up in the epidemic issue, barely have any time to do anything else. So yeah, Ellen and Rafilia has never got a chance to met each other until then.

Furthermore, abt the king, dude doesn't rly have any other choice either except for keep doubling down on the plot. The royal family is soooo desperate to remove the curse, they are willing to do anything. Since the curse means they're pretty much cut-off from anything spirit related. In a country heavily relying on spirits, this would mean the current royal family barely has any authority. A ruler of a nation, not having authority, that is a source of lots of problems. It's pretty much the same situation as in the past, as Ellen mentioned. The past king just desperate to keep their ppl safe, which at the end of the day actually worked BTW, just with severe consequences. And so does the current king.

The entire situation is just a very unfortunate mess of situation. It's pretty much like a chain of game theory style unfortunate bad blood happening between the two, that just keep pilling up a top each other, that neither of the two can actually do anything abt. That is until someone (usualy a neutral 3rd party) can break the chain for them... or at least until either of the two, or worse both, are checked mate.

Ellen told Gadiel bluntly that the sins of the Royal Family's past is eerily similar to King Ravisel's blatant act of harming the Vankreift family by aducting Rafilia. The exact same thought process of sacrificing others for the sake of self-benefit.

So, Prince Gadiel, as someone from the Royal Family, if you want to be able to talk to Ellen, the daughter of the Spirit Queen, you have to prove yourself worthy by righting everything that the spirits feel wrong about the Royal Family, both in its past and its present, so the same sins cannot ever happen again in the future.

Quite the message this episode alone has shown.

@Sheol01 the curse remains because the Royal Family is literally not learning from the mistakes. Ravisel's scheme of abducting Rafilia is literally on the same thought process as the past king 200 years ago - forcibly sacrifice other beings for the sake of self-benefit. The so-called "Sins of Your Father" you're talking about is literally being repeated right before Ellen's eyes, and it has hurt the family of hers, a spirit. This is not mere "Sins of Your Father" anymore, it's "Sins of The Family" precisely because the royal family keeps repeating the sin. What Ellen wants from Gadiel is some guarantee that he will not follow the footsteps of his father, the king, and instead be the one to break the cycle so the spirits feel safe with contracting with the royal family once again.

My only problem with Gadiel he doesn't know how to listen. The few times he met Ellen he was told to back off and talk from a distant. He always try to invade Ellen's personal space no matter how hurt or scared she looks. I think Gadiel might of had a better relationship with her if he did. She would might of considered talking to him more often. Outside of that I don't have any grievances with him.

Gadiel is honestly trying to fix shit, but is getting no support whatsoever. Things get worse since Ellen can literally not stand the guy due to curse PTSD. 1 thing I would agree with Ellen though is that this was maybe not the best time for Gadiel to talk to Ellen about fixing relationships when seconds ago they discussed just how big of a POS Gadiel's dad is. Sure, Gadiel says he fears he may not have a chance to talk to Ellen again, but jeez read the room. Ellen did ask "do you want to talk here and NOW?". It wasn't a good time to bring the curse issue up. Still, I feel sorry for the guy.

Rafilia was annoying yet again. How the F was her kidnapping Ellen's fault??? And she immediately lashes out on her. I thought she was going to slap Ellen. Luckily for her, she didn't. What's worse, Ellen and Rovel apologized for the kidnapping anyways, wtf? Sorry for being part of the family basically?

I'm sure Rovel will make the bandits reveal who hired them. Royal seal on the letter and Gadiel's mission are already good proof to punish the king though. Hopefully he will be punished severely in the last episode.

------------

I'm not a woman, but I never understood this obsession with breast size. Rafilia made me roll my eyes, as for Ellen, she's supposed to be reincarnation ffs. Anyways, imagine you're OP god-like being who can create materials out of thin air and you still care about f-ing breast size?

In comparison, insecurity regarding small PP makes a lot more sense!

Very good episode!

Rafilia is a brat who may grow to be a beautiful woman like her mother Aria.

Ellen may grow to be alike her mother Origin...

The cousins' relationship may get better...

Already hoping for a second season, for more development on these girls.

I can't help but feel bad for Gadiel. He's really not like his father; he honestly just wants to be friends with Ellen, but sins of the father & all that's got him tangled up in his forefather's mess that earned the royal family the ire of the spirits.

and I can't really feel bad or even like Rafilia; her two-facedness was clearly on display, acting demure & nice when Gadriel was around then huffing & puffing and acting all bratty, showing her jealousy over Ellen. at least Saviel realized what was the root of his daughter's defiance. hopefully she gets to fix her attitude up & realize she ain't always the victim; she needs to prove herself worthy of being a part of his father's family.

Decent episode, but sorry Gadiel, I’m with Ellen on this one. Why? Because you already have Rafilia. I know her love is unrequited, and I know you ain't even aware of it, nevertheless, you’ve shared multiple tea times with her. Why be a two-timing bastard? Does filth run in the royal family’s veins?

Glad she won't forgive the royals for what they did, even if the young prince isn't actually a bad guy...just don't want her getting traumatized by the curse again :{

But goddman do I hate Rafilia, Ellen literally saved you and the first thing you do is blame her...
Anyways, if Ori is anything to go off by Rovel is 1000% right with his comment on Ellen's future :P

I dislike almost everyone in this anime and a good chunk of the problems would be resolved if people just treated each other better and talked to each other.

Sure you almost certainly can't do that with the King (the core issue) but the "heroes" even treat their family like shit.

We'll get Ellen being all "boo-hoo, I think generational hate is a bad thing" in the background episodes but then when she is faced with a character she knows is trying to reach out and cares even if he messes up or doesn't know how, she treats him coldly with all the care of an angry lecture.

Prince is all waif the second he talks to Ellen and won't just express that he cares and wants to be on their side.

It took until a kidnapping for Sauvel to give Rafilia any sort of care or attention then he has the gall to say it was a good thing in the same day they rescued her.

Rovel will sit and watch this happening with his brother fully aware that it's an issue but barely corrects him.

I'm still mad that Aria got all that lecturing about given Sauvel all her love which she said she'd dedicate herself to, then 3 years later we see that she's an alcoholic because her husband basically ignores her and everyone still treats her (and her daughter) like an outsider. Even if they aren't her husband doesn't help her overcome it but just leaves her to day drink while he goes off lives vicariously through Rovel basically acting as if Ellen is his perfect little daughter.

Rafilia and the Prince are the two treated the worst and they are the only two that are actually children.

Now, I could forgive a hell of a lot of this if it was written with more nuance and presented as us following flawed characters trying to be good but making mistakes. However, it's presented so one sided like some characters are holy and perfect.

In another anime, I might agree with you but this one has done too much work putting Ellen as the symbol representing her problems. From her father's abandonment, to the constant comparisons, to her getting kidnapped as a pawn to get at Ellen, she has not experienced anything that suggests Ellen is a positive element for her life. Ellen might as well be the villainess to her and in some series this could've been the case with the same events.

A second season is absolutely necessary here, because otherwise the character development simply doesn't work, although it doesn't work in a negative way for most of them. It's funny and sad to read about Rafilia, who is a complete victim of circumstances here, a girl who lived a normal village life and played with her friends, was thrown into a cage and then told to learn to be an aristocrat. Her mother is an alcoholic and, it's fair to say, behaves like a slut. Anyone who has read the manga will understand what I mean, but she keeps telling her that they are aristocrats, so anything goes. Her father is not particularly intelligent and can't even talk to her normally. Her grandmother is not particularly bright either, as she hopes that her son will manage everything. She constantly hears the name of someone she has never really seen, but everyone tells her how wonderful she is. This could break an adult, let alone a child. And if you think that her father became smarter after this story arc, then you are naive.

Ellen getting all of her silliness out this episode with her reaction to Rafilia's insult and Van's fluffiness contrasted well with her stern and no nonsense attitude to Prince Gadiel. King Ravisel's constant scheming leading to this kidnapping incident was way too foolish of an act for him to take.

The spirits not planning to help the royal family with this impending disease issue sounds like a real ticking time bomb. I'd be white as a ghost if I knew I had incurred their ire. I hope the king realizes how badly he's messed up.

- Koushaku Reijo no Tashinami (LN, no adaptation yet)
- TenTenKakumei (has anime adaptation)
- Tensei Shite High Elf (LN, no adaptation yet)
- Isekai Kenkokuki (LN, AFAIK no adaptation yet?)
- and many more

Ellen is really bugging me here, I don't like her because I can empathize with the prince, he's cursed for what his ancestors did, not him. The prince obviously has a speech impediment and is a bit shy. If I were the prince, Ellen's behavior, which I don't think is fair, would have affected me emotionally. Ellen is a reincarnated adult, Prince is a child. And honestly, as the prince, I would renounce my royal lineage and leave.

unnecessarily cruel to Gadiel

Ellen telling facts = cruel, right...

So you want Ellen to just be lying the whole time? so she doesn't hurt the little boy's feelings? lol

The Royal family deserve that punishment, especially considering the fact they did physically attack Ellen's family members.

Lets say your sibling gets kidnapped cause they wanted some secrets from your family, and then you tell the court that it's fine and the kidnappers should be let free, cause all they wanted was for the "greater good".

Also, the Prince was in fact involved in this, due to the fact he told the king everything he knew and about exchanging letters. This alone is the sole cause of this entire incident to began with. (The Letters) This happened cause the Prince did not listen to Ellen's advices. The Prince started exchanging letters to try and get close to Ellen, and not to get close to Rafilia. (especially considering the fact he was shown leering toward Ellen in earlier episodes, he didn't pay attention to Rafilia to began with, which in an ironic way... is a similar act that Rafilia's mom did toward Ellen's dad) Even at the end of this episode, he just say "I just wanted to talk to you". This quote itself proves that he just wanted to talk to Ellen since the start and not with Rafilia.

And this here is also Ellen's problem, she was too trusting on the Prince, she didn't think the Prince would tell the King everything, in fact including the current reason the Prince helped in the first place, to get info on the medicine, instead of helping out of kindness. The Prince only acted for "his mission" and not out of actually wanting to help. If he wanted to help, he wouldn't have made any "conditions".

Imagine someone asking you for help, and you go "Yea, I'll help you, just pay me 5000 dollars first, see I am acting out of kindness, I'll help you"

Ellen's parents' story about how they managed to take down a pact of wolves, it sure is overkill, but she's not in the wrong when her and Rafilia meet for the first time, and the former getting instantly insulted by the latter for Gadiel paying more attention to her. Regardless, a human talking down to a spirit is just all sorts of wrong, and both Van and Rovel being her comfort, it at least worked out to calm her down, as is Savuel finally understanding Rafilia's rebellious nature.

Van and Kai's rivalry to protect Ellen continues, and as promised, the interrogation on Hume's group to lead the crime back to Ravisel as obvious as it is, as much as Gadiel has been taken for a ride and used as bait for that purpose, the medicine concoction which only Ellen knows and can agree to supply to them with her memories of her past life, this is as best as the agreement can come towards. Even with the kidnappers, Ellen doesn't leave that point to naught to handle the matter themselves, and Gadiel's final word on his matter representing the royal family to talk about the long-lasting feud between humans and spirits, it's also a severe warning because of everything that's associated with it.

If there's a real victim on this regard, it's Gadiel bearing the sins of his family, and Ellen not giving him the light of the day, is just a sad, sad matter.

Glad Ellen (for now) turned down the annoying and self-pitying Prince who should honestly just fuck off at this point 😭

Also another episode of Sauvel not doing or saying anything loving towards his daughter. Like he's still such a shit dad, and I thought him almost "losing" Rafilia would at least make him value her more, but apparently not 🙃
