Do you have any online friends who suddenly never came back online, and you still wonder what happened to them?
| For me, it already has happened a couple of times on MAL over the years, and every time I just hope they’re still alive and well. That their absence just means they got bored with anime or found something more important in real life. The most recent case is of course PeripheralVision, and while it’s easy to imagine him dead in a ditch, I really hope his absence means he finally succeeded in finding the love of his life. Gotta stay positive! (who knows, maybe @auroraloose even accepted his love or something) What about you? Ever had an online friend disappear one day without any warning signs? Do you think they might be dead, or do you believe they’re still out there somewhere, doing fine? |

| I was talking to that girl on Skype back in 2013. We were doing video calls and we even met in real life a couple times. Then she just disappeared. Later that year, she sent me a message, but at that time I was, I'm not sure... edgy, depressed, busy, so I didn't really manage to keep the conversation going for very long, after which she disappeared forever. No facebook, no skype, not even the games we were playing. Many years later, I reflected on what had happened, and I think she sounded somewhat lonely and depressed in that last message. I tried to find her through common friends and everything, but I had no luck, and I'm pretty sure if she was still alive, I would've seen a mention of her somewhere. I still have hope that she's doing fine somewhere out there since she was one of the most interesting and unique people I've met. Of course, there were other such more recent accidents, including on MAL, that I'm not going to talk about, but please don't do that on purpose. A simple message before you leave is more than enough. |

| A good online friend of mine went on vacation to Australia and never came back. They say he was bitten by a rabid monkey - in a white dress, no less. Australia is famous for its deadly wildlife. Another friend went surfing in the Philippines and, apparently, has been surfing ever since. Rumors of a shark bite floated around, but I suspect it wasn't a shark at all - more like a whale in a tuxedo. That friend always had a thing for cigars. |

| Yes, @Moonshine_cookie. She was very active in the clubs that I was in. A few months later, she just disappeared without notice and hasn't been on since. Hopefully, she's alright, but I do think she was the type of person to say something if she wasn't going to be online anymore. RIP if she has passed away and to everyone else who has departed this Earth. |

| Oh definitely all the time! When you've been on social media as long as I have you see so many people come and go. Heck I've been on this website since 2008 and so many of the people I used to chat with on here have long since abandoned the website. I still to this day sometimes look back at the comments we used to have in the comment section, wondering where they are now. "If" they even are now and have since passed on. It really makes you think. |

| Not on MAL, but knew a guy on Discord who I texted with a lot, he disappeared one day without a word, also deleted his Discord account about 1 year later, also without a word, no idea what happened there. |

| it happened twice on MAL. one got really busy and simply stopped replying, I kept messaging him monthly though, asking if he is ok, sending memes and songs and he came back later to explain what happened. luckily, we are in touch though not as frequently. the second one was weirder and ever sadder if it could be said as such. he did say his goodbye but it was so sudden. we were talking and all and then suddenly boom "I am leaving this online space and never coming back" out of blue? I still hope he is ok though. really miss him and missed him terribly for months but well, gotta respect the decision. who knows, maybe he might come back later. |

| when i was actively using wattpad as my blog in 2018 i used to have a mutual who i frequently interacted with. at some point they just deleted their account and i never heard from them again. i tried contacting them over gmail or something once but never got a reply. they were mentally unwell too, i just hope that they didn't do anything to themselves |
