It took them a bit of time, but yeah, I think they finally understood the recap wasn’t needed xD That aside btw, we really needed some answers didn’t we? If anything, in the midst of everything I feel for Sullivan. She’s just a little girl who acts her age or more like, wants to act her age, but yeah, these villagers aren’t letting her to… and that too for their selfish reasons.

Really, didn’t think inside all of that magic and curse stuff, there was something so “automated” and pre-planned stuff going on. It actually explains why these villagers don’t want outsiders to come in, or how those attacks were getting carried out on a bunch of people. This series takes place in the late 19th century, so yeah, seeing the kind of technology we saw is a bit of a culture shock as well, to say the least lmao. Seriously, so much for werewolves. Can’t wait for all of this end in the next couple of episodes.

this ep felt incredibly... GERMAN 🤣

mind u this was an official project from the government, not some independent one, hence the scene with wolfran talking about his "secret mission" at the start of the ep and why the country never did anything to the forest (testing ground) AND this adds layers of fked since Wolfran and her servants did all that brainwashing and trauma (plus the feetbinding taking away a childs ability to walk) just to feed into the lies. It wasnt explained why the contract was specific to legs for protection but i can make a safe bet that was for the witch/scholar never have the independence to leave and always need her servants (military workers) to perform daily activities

So it's started.
The little vision Sullivan had of continuing to see Ciel and learn more about the outside world was adorable and helped her get the inspiration to complete the "ultimate spell."

The poor girl has now learned the truth that the werewolves aren't real and her whole life has been a lie, so she would complete a chemical weapon.

This episode was beautifully animated.

Amazing episode! The suspense was killing me! Also, I really want to know what the piano song that was playing from 7:11 is. It's such an emotional piece that tied in so well with the scene too!

It it weren’t for Lady Sullivan, Ciel would have never healed and ever had big chances of dying. Nice coming from them to show her the outside world.

I wonder who is the woman from the final:)

Fun Fact: The plot twist is partly based on real history. The toxic gas that was created was Sarin gas (the same one used in the Tokyo subway terror attacks). It was created by a team of German scientists most notably: Gerhard Schrader, Otto Ambros, Gerhard Ritter, and Hans-Jürgen von der Linde.

Combine their family names and you get: SARLinde which is close enough to Sieglinde's name.

I didn't expect it, poor Lady Sullivan,
It's going to be even easier for Sebastian to get rid of his humans, I'm even a little disappointed I would have liked to see a real werewolf
but very beautiful reveal nonetheless

Even already knowing what would happen, I felt the animated version still packed a punch — that says a lot about how well it was adapted. 👏🏼

So basically the Kaiser had in 1890's tech from the 1940/70's .... okey-dokey then LOL

Wait a second did we just witnessed the birth of Sarin gas? Sullivan ... Sarin ....

Once again that evil Kaiser & German being one leg ahead of the Brits 9Sarin was discovered in 1938).

The moment we got a close look at wolves it was obvious those were just costumes. This also answers the question I had of how were reproducing if they were female only. Maybe Dogran was single handedly but nope there were many males aside him lmao. Now I'm just waiting to see Sebastian kick Dograns ass. These people turned out to be even more of piece of shit than we could imgine and the whole thing was a big farce.

just me or this whole arc feels very sherlock holmes: hounds of baskerville inspired lol i think thats why since the first ep i called it, it wont be real werewolves. despite the predictable nature i really do love plot twists like this and ofc sullivan's face when she found out was heart breaking!
i do appriciate the sense of realism black butler has despite also having demons and grim reapers roaming around in the world LOL
really great episode i can see why so many manga readers were hyping this arc up! i cant wait for more ahh i feel theres so many more questions left unanswered
also whos the "you know who" ciel was mentioning in ep 1

@Alex_the_reaper I feel like this also ties to the Book of Murder, the Germans preparing for something against the Victorian England... If I recall, the guest of honor was German right? And I would assume queen wanted to invite the witch as it would seem like she could be an asset.

I love how we started with witches and werewolfs aren't real, then being real, and back to fake again. Peak subversion

BROOO the new Black Butler ep??? I’m actually LOSING MY MIND. Sebastian walked on screen and I started kicking my feet, screaming, and spinning like a literal lunatic. WHY is he so fine??? Like he says one line and I’m ready to sell my soul all over again 😭🖤 this man is unreal, I’m so unwell. I need help. Actually, no I don’t—just give me more Sebastian content PLEASE.

Sullivan is doing her best 🫂 deserves a good break later. But this an important time to get business done. The magic circle won't make itself. Uh.. that look on her face with the tea spilled. Should I be concerned?

At least Ciel has his mind together now 🫡 they can be serious with the case and run.

All of the Sullivan sequences man 👀 stuff is going down. Don't think werewolves howling is a good thing 😓 but anyways. Protec Sullivan 🙏 Sullivan is precious.

Sneaking into a lady's chambers at night, tsk tsk. She's still saying that suggestive stuff XD of course.

Oh no she wants the butler genes 💀 get her away

But welp, we're gonna get her out of the village 🫡 one way or another.

When they uncover the secret passageway 👀 and I thought they were gonna blitz the forest. The plot thickens. Now that's some serious tech. A contained experimental village was not on the checklist. The betrayal is real 😔

Holy plot twists

Woa oouw. I did not see this coming.

On one hand she got fancily dressed up and carried around by Sebastian, off to see the outside world, truly a sheltered girl's dream come true.

On the other hand, she was manipulated into unwittingly creating the most powerful toxic bio weapon SULIN, most likely to be used by the Germans (Nazis) against other countries.
* The curse is fake,
* the villagers are fake,
* the werewolves were fake,
* everything in her world is a lie, except for Ciel and his visitors.

Had to feel sorry for her, this is so horrible!

interesting twist, but why did they need to make a truman show and brainwash a child (and the villagers too, possibly) just to create sarin gas? i can't wrap my head around it, maybe to hide it from the other countries' intelligence? doing all of that feels overkill though

Damn talk about a plot twist. I feel terrible for her, she thought she was saving lives, but was actually taking them without knowing.

I don't know what to think. That change in vibe was really abrupt and also unpleasant.
From macabre, fantastical and "old" to industrial and much more modern.
The exact same thing could have been done differently, no doubt. Whatever.
Now I'm really curious how this will continue to the end. There are still several episodes left.
