HELLO :)

I'm SolLamia and I obviously I like anime. I can be quite picky about what I watch but I do watch random anime that piques my curiosity although most of them I kind of watch so I know the contents of it. I won't criticize something that I haven't watched but maybe I could be prejudiced specially on Harem genres (sorry but I won't often like most of them but that depends) ... which I actually don't like about myself.

What I look for in an anime

Illustration/art
Of course it's an anime! good illustration and art style should always be considered when selecting a good anime. Though many have different preferences on art/illustrations it would usually depend on the individual.
Some Examples of good art/illustrations: most KyoAni's produced anime, Haganai, KWMS Maoyuu Maou Yuusha,Oniichan dakedo ai sae areba kankenai yo ne!, IS:Infinite Stratos most Shaft's produced anime...etc.
Plot/Story
This is the main disappointment when it comes to plot + Illustrations. Sometimes the story is good but the Illustration is somewhat... crappy (but you still watch it coz of the story ￣ω￣ ) But the main thing that would be much more disappointing is when the anime comes with a good art but a crappy story (Sometimes it feels like you're wasting time watching it). Sometimes you do watch it because of the numerous (often annoying) fan services.
Some Examples of good plot + not so good Illust/art: School Days, Jigouku Shoujo, Angel Beats...etc.
Some Examples of not so good plot + good illust/art: IS: Infinite Stratos, C3, D-frag, Date Alive, Dog Days...etc. (no offense, it's my opinion (*/ω＼*) )
Characters
One of the important thing that make up an anime. The relationships of the protagonist, antagonist etc., their role in the story, their personality, their progression in the story and BG story of every character is all important. They should give the viewers the right impact the character portrays. Like if the Character is a antagonist everyone would surely hate him/her but then comes the BG story... the audience would somehow understand the reason why the antagonist is doing what his/she's doing, then comes the his/her progression in the story. Would they change for good? or will they remain the way they are?
Examples of well executed characters:
>Maes Hughes fr. FMA Brotherhood: He did died in the first few episodes but his presence in the series remained.
>Gasai Yuno fr. Mirai Nikki: She is indeed a Psychopath 「Yandere」 but the reason behind her current condition is reasonable. She switches from being the 'good one' to the 'bad one' so you can't really hate her that much but you can't also like her that much.
