For example, if your plane is scheduled to take off at noon, are you getting there at 11? 10? 9? 8? 7? Or even earlier than that?

If I have a flight scheduled than I am at least an hour earlier and that's not the rule to be at the airport that quickly, but because to have time reserves in case something happens while going to the airport. [I do that to everything not only flights]

I go there one day before my flight so I can have a decent place to sit.

Don't exactly remember? I think we gave ourselves about a 2 hour window, as first we had to travel to the airports, which were probably about 40-60mins away from us, and then get check-ins done early & smoothly hopefully and just wait an hour before boarding hanging out at the bar or coffee shop.

I've never been on a flight before (Get me the fuck out of Fall River, plz), but if I were to take a flight somewhere, three hours before sounds like a safe bet. Besides, it'd be a perfect opportunity to catch up on some anime while waiting there.

I have never flown on a plane or even set foot in a airport so I don't really know. If someone find that weird, my parents were not big on vacations in my childhood and it kinda stuck to me. If anything, that gives me a better carbon footprint.😅

Arriving at the airport one hour before your plane is supposed to take off is crazy. So much shit could go wrong and hold you up in an airport. I'd rather not risk it.

2 or 2.5 hours before flight for me. This is mostly due to the clean up of myself due to urinary incontinence.

It depends a lot on who you are, how much you travel, what documents you have, if you have a carry-on bag, where you're going, where you're leaving from, your reason to flight.
If you're a bearded Arab in a Western huge airport you don't know and you don't know where to park your car, if you have a weak prostate or irritable bowel syndrome, you go to the toilet often, if you have a criminal record, with a carry-on bag with liquids, the weight of the suitcase at the limit of the permitted, ten suitcases in the hold that you have to carry back and forth all around the place, badly printed or crumpled boarding passes, big shoes and you've never taken a plane, with a brand new identity document, if you fly in economy, you can be sure that you'll miss the flight because of all the checks they do on you.
On the other hand, if you're Western, you arrived by taxi, a clean record, you travel for work every week, the airport is a small one, you always take the same airport, you use the smartphone app instead of boarding passes papers, no luggage, elegantly dressed, if you fly in business, in 5 minutes you're sitting on the plane.

I always arrive around 2.5 to 3 hours before the takeoff time, and fortunately, I have yet to miss a planned flight so far.

...you find yourself sleeping on your elegant jacket, like a bum, because your flight is delayed for 4 hours, and their shitty business lounge can't offer you fucking pillow. "Thank you for your cooperation."

Depends on if I know the airport, time of flight, domestic vs international. But typically I’ll give myself at least 2 hours, I have no problem while I am inside and I like to people watch :)

At least 2h before, because 1h often isn't enough to get through security check when there are lots of people waiting.
No, this isn't my signature-desu.

@bucciest

Indeed! In some of the bigger airports, you might need solid 30+ minutes of just walking to get to your gate even if we assume that you know exactly where to go (which I'd say <10% of people do) and everything else goes perfectly smooth (which it almost never happens).

This is why most airline companies would stop checking in passengers and issuing boarding passes 45-60 minutes before the scheduled departure time (which is already considered more than generous), so if you going to arrive just an hour your flight, you might as well take your time and see when the next flight is going to be. But you still create a bunch of pointless work and stress for all the staff involved.

It depends on the flight. If it is national, an hour and a half. If it is international, between two and three hours before.

3-4 hours before. I don't like to rush and to be stressed. I prefer to wait, but not be late

3 hours or more

Tried the 1 hour before with my friend, ended up running all the way to the gate with 20kg of hand luggage NOT THE TROLLY (cuz of course the logical thing to do is shove all the heavy shit in there so not to pay extra fo too heavy check-in) got to the plane with bruises all over my shoulder cuz of course i didn't even have the brains to bring a backpack, instead had a giant Pikachu totebag that was bounching around all the way i was running

I try to travel to arrive 2 hours in advance, but on a recent flight I took, I still almost missed the flight, so I thought that maybe next time I should travel to arrive 3 hours in advance....

Well any option is depended on the airport's location.
Most of the times I arrive 2 hours and thirty minutes in advance of my departure flight time.

I've been on three continents in the last year and took many flights and I'd say 3-4 hours before my flight has always been best.

Always two hours, considering the time it takes to go from the airport entrance to the waiting room for passengers, not to mention the security check inside.

It could be boring to wait until we're allowed to board the plane yes....

but it's better than being late.

I usually arrive several hours before take-off time, and sometimes I even arrive a day before the flight, just like today, they left me in a hotel in NYC, the same hotel as always I even know the caretakers here, I'm bored with nothing to do right now.

I'd recommend arriving 2 hours before the flight it's not necessary to arrive 3 or 4 hours before unless you plan to buy overpriced stuff at the airport, remember kids, this is why high-speed rail is way superior compared to any flight that takes less than 2 and a half hours.
