What is one thing you miss about being a kid? I have seen this thread before on Reddit and other forums. I'd like to ask what you miss about being a kid. I miss summer being actually fun, and actually having peers to talk to about things even if it was video games or non anime stuff. I also miss I admit having a consistent schedule on the weekdays aka school.

Happiness in general and a cathartic sense of freedom. That's rather vague tho, so I'll agree with summer being actually fun and I'll add recess during school days. Recess in my school used to last about 30 minutes, but in that time I remember having the most fun with my friends aside from going out on weekends, which I guess used to be a ton more fun also.

I have to dig real deep for this one.

I guess before my family fell apart things were pretty nice. So just that whole world I lived it where I felt safe and relaxed.

So the feeling of being a kid is what i miss since i had to stop being a kid at a pretty young age.

In the flipside though being an adult gives me power and control over my life and I cant let nostalgia make me ungrateful for what I have now.

There's many things which got changed into worse or better depending on context but the one thing which I think I miss the most is having a lot of time in which I wasn't affected by stress, right now there is a constant stress of different levels which back than wasn't a thing due to not understanding life and world, it would be nice to have a longer moment in which I would allow myself to put all the stress away, which is why I value a lot vacations and trips during which I don't need to stress that much and even if something goes not as planned it is just a little worry for which I'm prepared and have a back-up plan.

Being careless, I guess. I mean, I am careless still, but at this point "it has sunk in". It sure as hell "hasn't" when you're a kid.

I had more freedom and friends when I was younger. I really miss that.

When great leaves fall, the winter is at hand;
When the sun sets, who doth not look for night?
Untimely storms make men expect a dearth."

In the closet I didn't have to face transphobia and rejection in my own family...
But still it hurt not to be myself. To repress for others.
Can't really say like others it's time cuz I'm job searching and all I have is free time.
And I've kept doing the same thing (and progressing) since younger: Minecraft PvP notably.

Getting to see some people at school I guess particularly ones that were funny or nice to me. Playing around with others. Not having any injuries and my posture was better at some point. Looking more appealing to myself. Being able to feel things more deeply physically and emotionally.

I just made a topic about this lol. I feel like I was so spontaneous, interested and active on indulging with media I liked. That started to die down a few years ago and I really hate it. I might be romantizicing it a bit too much, but like, younger me would just binge watch FNAF related videos spontaneously all that time, current me could never...

Not about me, but I miss my little sister being a fun toddler and my personal sidekick. She's still like that even today.

I pretty much enjoyed my childhood nostalgia via my sister, so it's a win-win for me.

Even most infants can do it.

What you described is more a learned behaviour. A reaction to their environment and how their family treats them and how much room they are given to have experiences to grow from in a positive way.

@traed no. its not about knowing whats right and wrong or family or room theyre given (Whatever that means), but weather they care more or less, and inhibition, which they wont cause their brain isnt developed yet and they havent experienced real world experiences compared to an adult.

Being a vapor wave lover I feel a bit nostalgic for those years even though my childhood was sad anyway.
I miss the magic filter of things seen through the eyes of a child, the bliss of the ignorance, when everything was new and exciting.

@AnimeFreak-San

Room given I meant is not bring restricted below their capabilities preventing them from having experiences. What people call neurological development is more or less a vague concept of the adaptations the brain makes throughout life and it is not a one way linear path that everyone takes the same. It does in a way have a certain pattern it makes starting off in more focus on fluid intelligence and then into crystalline intelligence which neither are really better than the other just different skillsets and this isnt set in stone how that goes. It's one of those topics that is very difficult to explain in short replies and I don't exactly have time or energy to go into trying to cover such a vast topic in full depth so im trying to summarize so some nuances will be lost of course. Experiences don't have to be experienced directly first hand to be am experience and different people's experiences differ from many factors. You said kids are way more vicious than adults, this is despite the fact prisons are full of adults and adults are behind all sorts of rudeness and harassment. So these things aren't really as inherent as they seem. The way people express things can come out different with age. As someone is older they can better use more subtle ways of being vicious. I'm not saying no one improves at all ever or something like that, just to be clear. But you had me lost on a tangent here this is way off from the topic…

This thread is about personal experiences of isolated things from the past, not a debate topic on what age group is worse, and not asking what time was best for each of us users which even if it were you had no reason to argue to begin with because my post isn't even about you. On top of that you assumed things I did not even say or imply. There was some schoolmates mean to me as a kid but not a big deal to me in comparison to some other things later on. Some adults also were mean to me as a kid and some are now.

There is nothing good about being a kid. Being an adult isn't any good either. But that is just how the world works.
