Are monogamous romances in fantasy anime dead?

So I really love romance in fantasy anime whether it be shoujo even seinen or shounen. I noticed a huge boom of fantasy, but mostly all these ln based series involve harem often going for true harem route over vanilla monogamy within a pseudoharem. Mushoku obviously going the true harem route too. Even recently, in How to love your elf bride which I assume is a monogamous relationship, it seems like the mc is slowly gathering a harem with the knight girl. Do you think the concept is dying? I miss when we had stuff like Escaflowne or Familiar of Zero where the guy being loyal meant something.

Vanilla romance is too boring and most ideas have already been exhausted. Harem still seems to keep ppl interested for longer.

@SimplyBrazen why don't they do gay shit instead? It's trendy in US.

@SgtBateMan They do gay shit all the time tho? Boys love has been growing a lot lately. All the fat american women finally have so much potential for their porn addictions (which they're yet to admit to).

I don't know, I always felt that stuff like The Familiar of Zero and many anime that released around that time already were pretty much harem with all those love rivals they had swarming around the MC.

In comparison I found An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride or even Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers much more tame. Yes, the main character is friends with other girls but they all know who the main couple is and never try something weird.

Don't think Familar of Zero is a great example. Mostly because: I don't think Saito should have stayed loyal. Not for any pervy reasons, but simply because of how Louise treated him for a good chunk of the series. I get her backstory, I get why she acted the way she did, but still. Dude did absolutely nothing wrong other than accidentally get summoned by her. And there were multiple girls that treated him better. The only reason they ended up together is because they're both main characters and Louise needed a redemption. One that I guess she couldn't fully get unless they became a couple. Sure. This is all entirely from memory, but I feel like it's more or less spot on.

I actually want to compare this a a recent harem ecchi series that as weird as it sounds, I think did this better. At least in it's first season. Mato Seihei no Slave. Yes, Yuuki is literally called a slave. Yes, Kyouka is a tsundere who's kinda abusive towards him. But she's not an entitled brat about it, and it's obvious Yuuki is 100% onboard with everything going on in that relationship. Including taking an occasional beating for being in situations with other girls. Whereas I didn't get the vibe Saito was into it at all, at least not for a while. Guy probably had Stockholm syndrome. Maybe the story isn't great in Mato Seihei, but the character dynamic is a lot less shit considering again, he's quite literally called a slave.

@SimplyBrazen I meant 'in another world' as of the context of this thread and America is a great market, but agree. Fatty women look unhealthy, to be honest.

Not sure why someone would ask this question because there have been many Fantasy Anime franchises recently that revolve around monogamy and romance.

Just to name a few recent franchises like "The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent", "Banished From The Hero's Party, I Decided To Live A Quiet Life In The Countryside", "Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Mansion", "My Happy Marriage", "Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts", etc...

Even the most recent remake with "Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf" completely revolves around a monogamous relationship between a merchant and a wolf spirit.

Soon there is going to be the continuation of "Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World" too.

Monogamy isn't dead in Fantasy Anime, just a majority of Users who likely have this view are likely not even looking for them in the 1st place if they have completely passed up a majority of the franchise I have listed above. Over all a majority of Anime in general actually encourages monogamy as an over arching lingering theme even in harem Anime.

And as @FanofAction mentioned above, "Familar of Zero" is not a great example. If this was the case one could simply call something like "The Rising of the Shield Hero" a romance Anime revolving around monogamy too.

Not dead, but less common for obvious reason: it's fantasy and most people don't wanna see some ordinary mono relationship in there.
Anyway, here are 2 recent fantasy anime with mono romance and I think they are well done:
