| In your opinion, name some anime that's get hyped/ praised to death, and when you watch it , it meets / exceed your expectation in the end , that you truly think it deserve the hype and praise it got. I want to clarify that this is NOT a thread about the underrated/ underwatched hidden gem you want to share, the show has to be at least popular enough to be hyped/ well known by general public. Also I want to avoid the old classic and aim for newer generation so let's target the anime that was adapted between 2014-2024. I think Frieren "almost" reach the expectation, but I do notice it has some pacing issue compare to the manga despite above average animation. It is most noticeable in the current magic examination arc with some abrupt flashback timing and noticeably drawn out dialogues. (The pacing was perfect when it's more episodic) I think it's good, but NOT as good as Mal currently made it be. I'd say Violet Evergarden the movie reach the expectation for me (Not the TV series though) Made in Abyss season 1 and the Dawn arc movie exceed my expectation too (but season 2 presentation/ execution is pretty mid) |

| Well, first answer and it's the same I was gonna post ^^ . Yeah, Bocchi the Rock! exceeded my expectations, from a fun anime with cute girls without too much more than that, to a show that did almost everything perfectly. Oshi no Ko is my favorite manga, it deserves the hype, even beyond the first episode (though I like a lot that first episode/volume, I like even more what goes next, despite many people thinking the opposite). The anime matched my expectations, which is enough, since they were very high. |

| Odd Taxi and Vivy are some of the best original anime ever made. Attack on Titan might have peaked in S3P2, but The Final Season still delivered a strong finale. Mushoku Tensei is the best isekai in terms of world building and has amazing animation and music. Frieren's episodes feel like they go by in 10 minutes with how easy it is to get invested in the characters and world. |

| @LoveLikeBlood I am not denying Jujutsu animation is good, but saying it set a new standard for animated fight is just false because some long term anime observers found out a lot of fight scene paneling/ camera angle are basically direct copy from some older anime classic fight scenes. It borrows some amazing fight scenes from the past, but i don't think it sets a new standard since a lot of older shows have amazing fight scenes too. |
