Well this is set in the 19th century it wasn't very strange back then i bet, but i'm pretty sure it was 20 year old guys getting 12 year old girls, is it weird that i think that would be even creepier and worse? i swear society makes everything worse when it comes to women. Anyway it's just trying to show us that love can come even in those circumstances, now i'm not saying it's right like in todays times but back then ? do remember that the life expectancy was like 40 brother yes you heard that right people lived around 40 at most 50 years so that girl is already at around half her life span and the boy is at around a third so you know gotta live life, and things were very, very, very different, look at the world with an open mind and remember that times change, don't look at a work like this as just "pedophilia" |

So far I get the impression that he feels unworthy of her. He's a boy who does nothing, and then gets married to this girl of way higher standing than him, and who embarrasses him by doing the manly things a husband ought to do (like bringing home the bacon). Ofcourse, the love she lavishes upon him seems to be genuine and unconditional, but that's not how men think, hence why he's feeling bad right now and will continue to do so until he starts pulling his weight. If you made it out of childhood, since disease and flus during childhood would likely kill you, you would probably live a decently long life, until you grew old and died to a flu. Average does not mean "typical". It means "median". Most things aren't averages. Most things are extremes. People keep throwing "average life expectancy around" without understanding what that statistic actually means. |

Well all i was trying to Say is that they're likely to die soon anyways so it doesnt really matter to have an age gap, especially so when others don't seem to mind. And also thats it's very likely they could die at any moment a Lot easier then now. |

| Oh my god this chapter made me so happy! I was starting to worry there wouldn't be any romance on account of the age gap, but I got exactly what I was hoping for when I started this manga. Stuff like this makes me giddy. I hope to see more. |
