Earth is pretty useful in the modern world as there's a lot of metal around. Water is a cool torture device with that blood thing but I think I'll go for fire as it will make firing up the grill easier.

@Theo1899 Also, being an earthbender Yeah, being an earthbender would definitely come in handy in the modern world, as metal is pretty much everywhere nowadays. Being a firebender is also pretty useful, especially for that lol.

Airbender And I'd learn how to isolate and bend molecules. I''d study and work hard on the ability to develop all kinds of Telekinetic abilities.

I would go with Earth bending just for the metal.

2nd choice would be fire.

I would be Earthbender. Preferably someone who also knows metalbending cause that stuff is pretty wild.

Except submerge the entire world in an endless war for no justifiable reason. No good reason at all really.

Surely "nothing" apart from that.

@WatchTillTandava I see nothing wrong with a little bit of imperialism.

And that's how it started - the notion of a benign "little bit" of imperialism by Sozin as a way of supposedly spreading the benefits of their technologically advanced and prosperous civilization, of "sharing it with the rest of the world", and covering their country in glory in the process ends 100 years later in an attempt at burning everyone and everything different and not Fire Nation to ash in all directions and seeking to purify the world by fire. But usually the ideas which led to cyclical wars without end and tens of millions of people killed originated in our real world too in ostensibly altruistic noble impulses of striving to raise one's own people up and do right by the world, not setting out to do bad. And if anything, they're even more bloody and destructive as a result, when you convince whole societies you're fighting for something glorious.

But in the end, there is nothing glorious about what the Fire Nation was doing. If it wasn't physically stopped by force it would have eradicated all difference in the world and permanently and irrevocably wrecked the natural elemental balance, throwing man and nature into chaos.

Oh, I agree with that. Actually, historical martial music is one of my favorite genres and I'm fairly versed in at least the 20th century iterations of it. So I'll enjoy perusing those videos later.

In the world of ATLA, I do agree that the Fire Nation had the best aesthetic. I always associated them as the closest analogue of Imperial Japan in the show, but some of their architecture in their home territory cities had that Southeast Asian, like Thai or Khmer/Cambodian, ornate palatial look. Always very interesting and appealing-looking.

Earth would be the basic answear but fire is the edgy one. So I'm going with fire.
