| It's very safe to say that Outlaw Star IS a parody show. So far, it's Treasure Island/Planet (though Treasure Planet came much later) that references a lot of things like Harlock and Moby Dick, to name a few. Not that it's a bad thing, but it just ain't as fun if it isn't MOSTLY original. So sad that Suzuka has done NOTHING but chill around while watching the main party of 3 go around do shit. And Aisha's a part-time worker. wtf's with that formula |

I imagine once they finally get some money, things will really kick off. I think the main intent of these semi-fillers has been for Gene to figure out what he's searching for and why. Especially the previous episode in that duel against Shimi / Leilong when they were in the bar discussing the importance of surviving and whatnot. But again, I think things will change in the next few episodes... it just seems like the series took a bit of a break from the actual story here. (P.S.: Obviously I know you've finished the series by now, but that's just my perspective on the matter.) |

| I don't mind filler as long as it's good and this was one of the good ones. It's interesting to note that the treasure was low quality but for the old man the price of the treasure wasn't as important as getting it and killing the demon. He would be super pissed to know that his family and crew died for such cheap treasure... thank goodness he's dead. xD |

| Poor Old Man, but at least he did find the treasure after so long. And yeah, sucks how the dragonite is pretty much old/expired. If they have gotten it earlier 20 years ago. They would be millionaires now!! Good stuff! Yes, This is the USBD Funimation Episode 16 "Demon of the Water Planet" Seems Funimation made the specials as part of the main TV even though they aired these after the main series. Canon wise, it does make sense to watch them in order, but they should just label them specials instead of confusing people. |
Yeah this episode, despite being a special, looked awful. The character designs were distorted (for example Gene's chin constantly being really pointy), and the colors were flatter and more drab. I really didn't like this one too much. It picked up by the end, but the rest just played out like a near parody of Moby Dick with poor visuals. |
| Gene's face looks weird, and there was no Suzuka. What an underwhelming special. And then, after all is said and done, they made 1.8 million and still ended up breaking bad. Sheesh. |
