| I haven't read Chainsaw man but anyone can tell her name has no reason for her being popular, her sexual appeal plays a major role in her popularity. I don't feel Yui, Ai, Cho are bland names, I think the name Yui will suit her pretty well too (based purely on her appearance). |

| Not only less popular but harder to put some fear. Who would fear some girl named "Yui" or "Ai" hahaha Makima sounds strange, and since my home language is portuguese it's sounds like "machine". It's creepy how "makima" fit her character so weel, she's a KILLING MACHINEEEE!!!. |

| A cool name is always better than a bland one in my opinion, so I would have to say yes. Also, this might be a bit random, but it’s something I found interesting: One cannot spell Makima’s name without the word “mama” rofl |
| Fujimoto said that “Makima” actually comes from the word “Mama” and in the story she’s meant to be a representation of a motherly figure (even tho that is questionable). Most of the fans don’t know that so the name really doesn’t matter. |
