Brought to you and inspired by: some GameFAQs forum post of all things lol https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/2000121-anime-and-manga-other-titles/64421775 What manga would you like to get the omnibus threatment? Anime and Manga - Other Titles For quite some time mangas have been receiving the omnibus threatment in the USA, from back before Tokyopop died (Fruits Basket, Battle Royale and to a lesser extent GTO: Early years) to Viz's Viz Big line of good quality 3 in 1 publications to its cheap 3 in 1 compilations (Named 3 in 1) to Dark Horse publishing Omnibuses of CLAMP titles to Kodansha's USA Omnibi. My prefered omnibi are Viz Big since they have color pages not included most of the times, mm anyway what omnibus do you think should get this threatment? Remember the manga has to be somewhat popular enough, and in some cases an OOP series like X.. In other cases it justs weird like Lone Wolf and Cub. Hello everyone, welcome to yet another Manga Discussion made by yours truly ✩ So sometime ago, being a bit of a crazed manga collector, I was randomly searching around for omnibus manga prints and volumes when I stumbled upon the above post. There surprisingly isn't a thread quite like this on MAL, so I just kept it in the back of my mind for a future discussion! For those who do not know, an omnibus volume contains several volumes in one book as opposed to having each of those volumes separately. These omnibus prints usually put 2 or 3 volumes in 1 book, though I've seen a few prints that stuffed in even more than that—such as the somewhat recent 20th Anniversary book for Paradise Kiss, which contains all 5 volumes in 1 extremely bulky volume. Regardless of how they're printed, these books are usually pretty big and bulky as a result, and cost more than the average single volume; but I find that they can be fairly affordable ways to collect a series, as for example one omnibus volume of a Shonen Jump series that contains 3 volumes in 1 will usually cost less than if you had bought each of those three volumes individually. Despite this and that some prints use some specially made covers (such as Udon Entertainment's recent hardcover print of The Rose of Versailles), some people still have their (frankly understandable) gripes toward omnibuses though. Me personally, I don't have any gripes and even own a couple of omnibuses myself—so I'm super excited to discuss this with you all!! ★-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-⋆-★ It wouldn't be any fun to start a discussion without answering the question myself, so here's also some of my picks:
Full Moon wo Sagashite. RELEASE THE BUNKOBON PRINT PLEASE. Same with Saint Tail and its shinsoban print. PLEASE. IT'S NEVER BEEN PRINTED IN RIGHT-TO-LEFT IN ENGLISH PLEEEAAASEEEE ...haha what a surprise, most of these are pretty old girly stuff/shoujo that have gotten out of print...... okay hey I geddit, stop laughing at my predictable taste... But enough about me, what about the rest of you? What are your thoughts on omnibus manga and which series do you think should get this kind of print?? Also SIDE NOTE—— YO WHEN DID SEVEN SEAS DECIDE TO PICK UP YOKOHAMA KIDAISHI KIKOU WHAT?!?!? https://www.amazon.com/Yokohama-Kaidashi-Kikou-Omnibus-Collection/dp/163858544X https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/yokohama-kaidashi-kikou-hitoshi-ashinano/1141014759 |

Wow, I remember reading Zodiac P.I. Happy memories. To be honest, I'm not sure what series I'd like to receive the omnibus treatment. I usually collect the series that I really love volume-by-volume, so I probably wouldn't buy a future omnibus unless it contained special extra content. If it were ever to return from hiatus, I'd probably buy an omnibus of Nana. |

I just looked up to see if there was any omnibus for godchild and nope i couldn't find any or really, any Kaori Yuki Omnibus so i'd say it would be her works like Angel Sanctuary or Godchild And i also couldn't find a Kagerou Project omnibus either too for the manga side of things so that would be cool to see. Another series i can think about is Life because i couldn't find one either as an omnibus. But a series i know that i really love, Mysterious Girlfriend X has one and need it! My parents have bought omnibus volumes though of like a few shonen jump stuff like bleach for example. And i think they're pretty cool having so much volumes in one book imo. And oh yeah, i mentioned to this before on here and on discord, that i got a few Zelda mangas from value village one of them is the occarina of time legendary edition which is the complete manga of volume 1 and 2 of the occarina of time manga which is also pretty cool imo. Overall great job on dropping the fucking moon as always. complexities said: Wow, I remember reading Zodiac P.I. Happy memories. Mhm, i wanna see more of Ai Yazawa's works, get an Omnibus Treatment as well too and i'm still waiting for it to return one day, and also heard there is an art expo in Japan with her works so something big could happen like maybe it will finally return but who knows. |

My answer is "all of them," but I only buy the affordable ones. Rose of Versailles can rot in a warehouse. Fario-P said: Cardcaptor Sakura, Magic Knight Rayearth, Chobits, and even frickin' Clover have been getting nice big hardcover volumes recently released. Every one of those already had an omnibus published by Dark Horse. The new Kodansha versions are typically more expensive than buying each tiny volume individually. If some company (or hell, even Yen Press again) ever picks it back up, I'd imagine they'd release it in 2 omnibus volumes... I've never seen Yen Press reprint manga. |

@Fario-P 1)Aside from Omnibus manga volumes my parents found a Legend of zelda botw portrait that i also remember sharing on discord as well too and also alot of anime dvds and they were the ones who found Godhand and dq 6 on the ds as well too and they rather me spend my money on weeb stuff especially from Japan over substance abuse. 2)Oh yeah, i remember you mentioning that as well recently, you got a Kaori Yuki artbook recently and yes do give her works a go right away, instead of spending time in that cancerous drama hellhole known as the mal forums especially places like f.g or c.e which i've been avoiding like all times. 3) Yep! the legendary edition, i got is so worth it alright! 4)And of course! my pleasure as always! |

I have only recently began the true spiral into collecting manga myself but I already have a preference to omnibuses for that reason. Series like "Death Note" where you can buy the entire set in one massive book or ones like "Goodnight Punpun" where they but two or three volumes together has saved my pocket (and shelf space) for all the separate volumes. Here are a few manga series that I personally would love for it to have omnibus versions. - Haikyuu! (45 volumes) The full manga ended in 2020 so there still is a chance it will make omnibuses but right now it doesn't. Although its fairly popular, finding some volumes is almost impossible. - Blood + (5 volumes) I love this series but have only ever found the last two books for a reasonable price because of how they did not produce many copies of this series. - Ancient Magus Bride (17 volumes) This one is more because I would love to have them all easily haha. Another series with just beautiful art and since most omnibuses have special full color illustrations in them the books would be absolutely stunning. -Alien Nine (3 volumes) The story is fairly short so it would be perfect size for a omnibus That's all the main ones I would love to have them but honestly all manga should have omnibuses. I'm not against regular volumes and think they are very beautiful on a shelf but in terms of actually spending money omnibuses are slightly cheaper. |

Coming back here to mention KH also has its novels in ominbus format Composer willing once i save up enough i am so going to buy it. And for Niso's works Zaregato from what i looked up doesn't have an omnibus but the novels should imo and hopefully more people purchase zaregato works as there is still lot more story that the anime needs to cover. @Fario-P @Spaceslut Here is where you can find that angel sanctuary artbook but its pretty zetta pricey though. The Earthbound/mother manga's don't have omnibuses as far as i know so i think maybe that would be cool to see happen. The Metroid manga as well yep, we can also use an omnibus for that as well too. Innocent Rouge i don't think it has one and i've read it recently kudos to Squished_Lemon for reccing this and yeah it was a wild read and i highly rec it if you wanna see some really brutal stuff. r.g veda i don't think has an omnibus and since i've read it recently now i wanna see one happen as well as more of clamps older stuff get full adaptations. The price of it, is said to be about 1900 lmao, thats chump change if you're a hardcore collector. |

Would love Dark Horse to do a Lone Wolf & Cub deluxe edition like they did with Berserk, Hellsing and Blade of the Immortal so I can finally read it. Not a huge fan of their paperback omnibuses, they seem kinda flimsy. |

Lol that is HUGE!!! Although I love One Piece, I think that book is a bit too big for me... and One Piece isn't even done yet! Imagine in ~4-5 years when One Piece finishes and they make an even BIGGER omnibus! |

For a collector, a crucified Chu-Chu is aesthetically more pleasing than most omnibusses. That being said, it's a nice option to snatch and snack those out-of-print series to save some money though. Not into the English market much, but a renewed license of, f.e., classics like Galaxy Express would also be nice for you folks. |
My Rereads | My Favorite Mangaka | Soylent Green Buy stuff, or buy at least your favorites if you can afford it - Don't be lame. D W-W&N 🤍 MAL is far from being my primary site for literature, which is why I’ve stopped doing single-chapter updates. Baka-Updates and two French sites are far superior—more detailed, complete, and less restrictive. They're perfect for manga, light novel, and book collectors like me, making the process much less stressful and tiring. -g- |
