after watching 3 eps I dropped it. Garbo anime. I was hoping it would at least be fun but it's just Neon Genesis On Titan Online. Also I hate the gears. They look like something off Nick Jr |

AOTS for me, easily. The plot is interesting, the characters and their relashionship is awesome, and the animation is solid. Also, it's so cool to have this older, confident badass as a main character sometimes. I have nothing against teenage MCs if they're interesting enough, but I'm kinda tired of this trope at this point, so someone like Kabu as a main character is... refreshing. I love the cyborg part of the show too, it's not what I expected at the beginning (no one did, I guess) but it turned out to be an awesome and creative concept, for me at least. I'm loving this show so far. |

I'm not watching much else but only this and Re:Zero S2 come close to taking AoTS. Not a strong season so it doesn't mean much anyway. I will say it's in my top 5 of this year so far though. The anime community doesn't really make sense. People claim to want original anime but when episode 2 aired so many people were disappointed by the direction the story chose to take. Most just want clones of things they've already seen or something. Well, I say most but I just speak of the vocal contrarians, majority of viewers can probably appreciate it in some way. It's just this time, the contrarians really confuse me with what they say. Salty-GB said: but it's just Neon Genesis On Titan Online. What do you mean? No. Fuck that. I would say great Pretender but it technically aired in Spring? I would ALSO say Appare-Ranman! but it first aired last season and continued this season. So yeah, #VoteObakeZukanBestAnimeOfTheYear2020 |

Well, there isn't any other anime that I really like from the season. There's Fugou Keiji, which is my favorite anime of the season, even though it actually started in spring. Also, just like a lot of people here, I also thought Pretender was going to be the best of the season, but then I hated Ep5 so much that I don't care about it anymore. |

(hell even after 3 episodes, I could tell it wasn't like AoT lmao). If you do feel like it(probably not), try giving it a chance when it's finished airing and see if your opinion changes. If it doesn't, that's fine. |

I would say, yes. Even more so, given it is an original anime series. It is harder for an original anime to be good, but it is easier for an anime adaptation based in a light novel or manga to be good given they already passed the popularity filter test to become adapted in the first place. |

If it doesn't, that's fine. It leans more on the TTGL/Kill La Kill/Evangelion/Promare side and really only takes "fluid flying combat with the aid of a mechanism against big monsta" from AoT. It feels like if Trigger were given the rough outline for AoT and worked on it for like a month before throwing it out and Nut pulled it out of their garbage. I probs won't come back to it. If the gears weren't so jarringly different from the other characters and if Natsume was even the slightest bit interesting I probably could have stuck it out and would have likely given it a 5 depending on the ending. Maybe ditching the "game but irl" aspect and just having the gears be like, aliens or something would have bumped it up to a 6. As it stands it just isn't my thing. |

Well, since im saving Re zero and great pretender tilll theire over its hard to say, but if you bracket out those to its definetly the highlight of this season. Wonder what the score would be without the 30% that dont get the setting after a full episode of infodump or are pissed beacuse its /it is not AoT Clone... This is people critsizing shield hero all over again, just less politics this time xD Ah well, at least Its funny... After having caught up with more stuff, I can say great Pretender was waay better, although i still very much enjoyed Deca dence. |

i dont think this is a Trigger show at all lol especially if you meant Imaishi anime since obviously its lacking that wacky animation and hyper energetic dialogues and pacing of the story also ecchi scenes since Imaishi is a damn pervert like me there is nothing original in this show but as usual execution is what matters and this one delivered imo |

Like at least explain a bit more how it's copying all these anime. I don't understand in what way it feels like both Gainax and Trigger works all together. I'm not trying to be rude or aggressive btw, I just don't think having similar action scenes is enough to claim that the story is conceptually too similar as well. Like you're not really doing a good job at explaining why you're accusing it of being a copy of all those things imo. You're just saying it ''feels like all those other anime''. Seems more like you just don't care and don't care to care, lol. It's not really something I can just show screencaps for and be like "look! see! Look at the that!". It's the framing, the palette, the flex and flow of the animation, the chunky but detailed mechanical objects, the shading and lighting, the way things are paced (by which I mean the time allocated to certain actions, not the plot plodding along), the scripting and expressions, character design elements, auditory quirks (not really the soundtrack though oddly enough). I'm not really sure how I could represent most of that in a digestible way without going through a ton of effort and even then I dunno if it would be worth all that work just to prove a point. For the most part it's a good dupe. I don't think having Trigger put out their version would have made the show better if that makes sense? Like it's not bad BECAUSE it feels like a Trigger show. It's just not a very good show. I also am not trying to be rude or aggressive, I'm just bad at articulating what I mean. I did legitimately go in thinking I would like the show enough to finish it and even give it a decent rating. |

It's supposed to show the differences of the humans' and cyborgs' worlds - for humans everything is a matter of life and death, real suffering and saying goodbye to their loved ones, meanwhile for cyborgs it's just a fun game. In my opinion it's not a bad storytelling, on the contrary, I would say it is amazing in its own way. Same goes with the different artstyle. All the distinct and big differences between these two worlds are clearly intentional. I'm not saying that everyone has to like and appreciate these concepts, but it doesn't mean it's a bad storytelling. |

Originality is a hard thing to make these days. It's becoming more of a rarity to come up with something completely new. However If someone can take what's already done and execute it in such a way that it feels fresh and new, then I say they've succeeded. Take Megalo Box for instance. It's not original but imo it's execution is so well done that it makes for an exciting experience and I don't even like boxing. |
