Okay okay, here me out:

Am I the only one who gets bothered when an anime has an asymmetrical episode count?

Like I am watching Magia Record and it has 13 episodes compared to my other weeklies I am watching and it just gets under my skin in the most minor and 1st world problem way imaginable.

How about you? Do you suffer from this mild inconvenience? Am I just complaining too much? T,T

Uhhhh...sounds like it's just you, boss.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

You mean odd number episode count?

No, why would it bother me? That's some extreme OCD type you got there if it bothers you

Why would that bother anyone? If a show is good, why would I get upset about the number of episodes?

Or like with the old Berserk anime where they just ended it narrativly right before the last episode. Still gets me to this day, lol.

I hate shows with prime number episode counts because I can't equally divide my watch schedule.

Yeah i could pretty much say that for every anime that ends before the last episode, where the last episode can be taken out and nothing would change. How pointless.

Lol, when I read you had an aversion to 13 I was looking forward to finally witnessing a real-life case of triskaidekaphobia. But, whatever.

I used to be mildly bothered by animes having 51 episodes, because that was so close to 50... but since I've seen quite a few animes of that length, I figured that's how it is, now when I see a multiple of 51, I find solace in the fact that I've found a pattern.

Also, I don't think that's a first-world problem...

T,T

*Sweats in alphabetizes everything*

And lol, hoarding. I wouldn't say I am a hoarder I am a collector who can't let anything go atleast with manga and videogames.

@Missaliensan Yeah anime who waste time like that too also get under my skin. It's like "Betch, you coulda ended at 12 episodes but no you have to waste time to squeeze out a 13th"

@SadisticSougo For some reason I really felt this conundrum you presented. It spoke to me in the same way asymmetrical anime does.

@kmohyudin Haha, nope. I'll raise it even further and say back when I played Magic the gathering a made a standard triskaidekaphobia deck. Was fun to play at FNM.

And don't even get me started on 51 episode anime. *Looks at you Victory Gundam* Or hell even Gundam ZZ with 47 episodes.

@Savasvania @animebanger69

Finally someone agrees with me, lol.

@Theo1899

This too, my watch schedule demands balance. Like I will only watch even amounts of anime in a day, like yesterday I watched 8 episodes between 2 shows.

I think this makes the show unique, like how Ergo Proxy has 23 episodes, I don't care about odd numbers in regards to anime episodes

I don't have any problems with episode count. It would have been better for me if mine favourite anime had that extra 13th episode.

But you are really suffering from OCD if episode 13 triggers you.

Do you mean odd numbers of episdoes?

They don't bother me because I'm still just going through them one episode by one episode anyway.

If I used them to write puzzles maybe that might be important, but otherwise all it does is mildly affect the storytelling pacing, if we're talking about series within the same cour length.

best post of thread

(I would start talking about triangular numbers or some other nonsense, but I'd be getting derivative anyway lol)

It bothers me for reasons I do not comprehend.

People have been saying OCD but I dunno. Maybe, sure there is a chance no denying there is a chance. And I am not saying it is a huge deal either, it just bothers me a little.

I really like to watch shows in neat batches of even numbers, so shows with 11,13, or 25 episodes irritate me. Not to the point of ruining my day or keeping me up at night or anything, but like stubbed my toe level irritating.

The OCD is strong here.

No, it should get the amount of episodes it needs. It's a pity many anime, for example Dororo, are rushed in the middle part or the end, because they don't get more episodes.

That's funny you mention this because Dororo didn't feel rushed to me. Maybe because I haven't read the manga.

I haven't either. It's just these episodes in the middle part and the end, imo. Like they realized: oh shit, we can't make another episode.

Haha I guess I lack that perception, although atleast they ended the show at 24 eps.

My biggest problem would be that Magia Record actually will end incomplete because adds need to urge you to consume a product. Other than that, please donate, I'm poor, the game made me poor I never pay attention to that detail.

Nah because you're not viewing it from the right angle. There's 52 weeks in a year, 52 divided by 4 is 13, ergo from a calendar perspective 13 would be symmetrical with other seasonal shows but 12 is not.

Generally an odd episode number count means that the creators got exactly as much room as they thought they needed to tell their story, its a good sign. We don't expect authors to write books in clean uniform lengths, and it's always been a challenge for TV anime to deal with having to fill in a preset amount of time. Episode length variety should be encouraged as well.

You mean prime numbers? Or simply just odd numbers?

Not that I ever consider it a problem. Or I guess there's that Bakemonogatari with 15 episodes that made me scratch my head. I used to binge watch anime from 9pm to 2am but that particular anime made me stay up almost 4 am. Made me late for school.

Both, lol, they both bother me for some god forsaken reason.

And wow that anime binging ability is nuts, I get bored after like 4 eps at most T,T
