There are a lot of people talking about in various places their experience watching on higher resolution monitors or TVs, but simply, my question is, what are the 1440p/4k anime's out there? I know there are a few but nowhere can I find a list or someone asking for this exactly. Most are just a discussion.

1. Anime movies?
2. 3DCGI titles having versions rendered in 2K/4K (not necessary looking that better) ?
3. Upscale (wouldn't look better)?

PS
4. Some short experimental titles.

IIRC this was the first 4k anime, but it has never been released on BD, only shown in theaters.
https://myanimelist.net/anime/7781/Gothicmade__Hana_no_Utame

The other one I know about is this:
https://myanimelist.net/anime/33221/Mobile_Suit_Gundam_Thunderbolt__December_Sky

and I assume the movie version of S2 as well.

There may be a few others, but most likely what you'll find out there are just upscales. Producing anime in 4k is very expensive. It's not like live-action where you just need to film with higher resolution cameras, you need to draw every frame X times as big as for 1080p, making it take exponentially more effort and money and time. There's a reason why most anime are still produced in 720p.

I probably regret this post by now.

I don't think there are too many Anime produced in 4k. 4k isn't popular enough to make it worth while to make a whole lot.

Both seasons were movie projects to begin with. The ONA versions were some sort of preview. The movies had additional scenes too.

There's still two versions, the movie version and the ONA version...

But I guess that means that, yes, there is a 4k version of the second movie as well?

I am not sure about the releases, just that those projects were made natively in movie quality, not upscaled ONA for movie.
Also i don't believe that they made only the first in 4k (and the second only in 2k?) since it was back-to-back production.

I don't think I've ever seen anything offered in 1440p apart from video games

I've heard Kimi no Na Wa was made in 4k, but I can't be certain.

Making anime in 4K means having to both be more critical of mistakes (since they would be more visible) but it also increases rendering time, and time is precious. Studios are often in such a time crunch that even if their employees were willing to draw with enough accuracy that it would still look good in 4K they might not make it for each weekly deadline if they were forced to wait around for everything to render in 4K. They might be able to save it for the blu-ray release when they have the time to wait, but I don't think the benefit would be greater than the cost.

its not practical for hand drawn anime to be in 4K lol read this

New Netflix x Production IG Hand-drawn 4K HDR anime project faces criticisms from animators for possible insane workload on 720P quality budget https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/d21rm4/new_netflix_x_production_ig_handdrawn_4k_hdr/

Would be absolutely beautiful though. Imagine 4k Violet Evergarden or 4k Makoto Shinkai films.

Can't wait for that day.

video games is 3DCG so its more practical since aside from textures the actual 3D parts are like vectors that can be scaled infinitely as long as the hardware power allows it

You're right. I'm sorry. Imagine 4k Berserk 2016!

Wow, you have a gift for bad choices, aren't you?

Maybe it comes from your inability to differentiate theme, story and visual art?

I don't really want upscales, I just want a list of things that are currently out or coming out that we know are in this quality.

I don't even have 4k, I just thought it should be included in my post for others looking.

I have watched Kimi no Na Wa in 4k with HDR, and I have to say, that movie brought out the most beautiful colors from my 4k oled tv, that i've ever seen.

As of now there aren't anime produced in 4K. Everything that has 4K label is an upscale. First anime produced in 4K will be Production I.G's Sol Levante that should be releasing soon.

My PC monitor is a 1920 x 1080p and like...21 inch or 23 inch or something.
So there's no point in me watching anything over 1080p because my monitor doesn't support it.

I don't foresee there being 4k anime any time soon, but as the market is moving towards 8k, I don't think that's the right approach to go. The fact of the matter is that animation, for the most part, has a lot less color and detail than a real photo. There's not much gradient, not much noise in terms of inner detail. Like picture a leaves on a tree, the little scabs on the twigs, the veins, the shadow that filters through, that makes high definition, high bit rate capture necessary. That's not what anime is. For the most part, anime is regions of a single color, with some regions bounded by black lines. In other words, the perfect task for AI upscaling. And there are 1080p to 4K real-time upscalers that use generative AI or math algorithms and do an amazing job. Unlike a real picture, the "detail" that you're interpolating amounts to figuring out where the border lines are.
