| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Hmm, this seems okay but the amount of characters will take me some time to get used to. Their world has otherworldly monsters and it didn't surprise me that the characters fought them like a video game. In fact, this anime itself feels like a game with the characters having their gear and abilities. A lot of action from this first episode though. |

| I expected something different from the first season and this episode didn't disappoint. There wasn't any connection at all to the first season from what i can tell. So far it looks interesting. The unit being almost wiped out and the action going on has some promise but i wonder what to expect from the blond guy. As i see it now he has a death flag but they could leave him alive for a while as well. |
| People will treat the other season as the first and this as the second (the reverse according to MAL) the other is just a spin-off/alternative version |

| The op was meh imo and the animation is pretty decent. This whole episode was pretty much predictable but this is just the start and I'm interested in this series, so let's just wait and see what happens. |

| Hmm quite the impressive opening. Just as it tests reaction speed seems the training also aims to tease out decision making as well. Things sure got real for the training class in dramatic fashion on the planet though. Zeno and Echo sure arrived in the nick of time though. The contrasting attitude between Echo and Zeno though sure was amusing. Seems ARK also has problems with arrogant members as well. Overall a strong first ep that while slow paced focused on lore expansion while building up the main characters. Im curious to see what Matoi will bring to the story though. |

| This anime has no relation what so ever with "The Animation". The other anime was made to go along Episode 4 of the game, which was lead by a new director at the time and had a really different vibe than the one that made Episode 1-3. This anime is an adaptation of 1-3, so it's best to forget about "The Animation". TLDR: Episode Oracle is canon, The Animation is a spinoff |

| Looked cool but the fact that they are playing a video game makes it kind of meh. Like, 'they are not in the ARKS database' just makes me thing they are from a different server, and how the monsters killed every1... they can just respawn. If u told me it was some kind of isekai i would get it. I guess it will make sense in future episodes and how it connects with its sequel. |

It's real life for every one of the characters. |

Nah, they're not playing a game, while "pso2 the animation" does take place after "pso2 episode oracle", "the animation" was just a side story. In PSO2 (the actual game), after the events that are going to happen in this new anime, there's a 2 years time skip. The previous anime took place during that time skip. Connecting between the worlds in this new anime and the earth in the previous anime only became possible during that time skip, so it's unlikely there'll be anything connecting the 2 animes (maybe at the very end there could be a reference to the previous anime, I guess). The connections between the previous anime and this new anime will be more important if this new anime gets another season though. |
| Really nice to see this back again. I really enjoyed the 1st episode. New arc, new characters and new mystery. Very dark start as well, quite the massacre to begin things off with, definitely separated itself from the original series by doing that. |

Earthlings only thought of it as an online game because the PSO2 game is literally a magical portal to forcibly insert their oc donut steels into the ARKS's world. |

| Oh boy, the nostalgia. I thought watching just 1 episode won't make me feel wanting to come back and play the game again, but it did just that. Can't really say I like the OP theme, but the ED is quite good with all the female characters in it. Can't waaaait to see the Hadred Arc get animated. |

| Surprisingly decent, i dropped the other series like a rock but this seems ok, reminds me to an early 2000's anime. Good while the game finally comes out in the west. |
