I figured there would be a 2nd season since I'm pretty sure the manga is close to being at the climax and should be ending soon. I think it was easier for them to create the first arc as 12 episodes so they could easily transition into the next arcs so the stories would flow better together. Hopefully the 2nd season will be 2 cours

Honestly, going into Goldy pond arc, it's almost impossible going from the escape to the end of this arc in a single cour. Unless they want to fuck all up somehow.
Imo 90% gonna be double cour

While the manga is in its final arc, it will most definitely run for at least another year, probably even up to two years. There's still so much to resolve that it's basically impossible for the manga to end this year. The manga is currently at chapter 128 (anime adapted up to chapter 37) and given by how little has been resolved in the first 27 chapters of the final arc, it's gonna be a really long arc.

I knew it! The point of the anime was the escape and any type of background/post story were going to be delegated to an OVA/ another season. The anime opened himself to that possibility with that development and end

I had a good feeling S2 would get announced pretty quickly, so I'm pleased to see it's confirmed already. I'm more than certain they'll do a 2 cour so they can adapt Goldy Pond properly, which I'm really looking forward to.

The manga's ending, according to author, is already planned, unlike other shonen which authors just keep drag on the plot as they think of new one.
The length of The Promised Neverland is already predetermined, according to the author.

Yup Yakusoku is in it's last arc and as you sYs is already planned.

I am not watching the anime (no time :() but if is adapted until what I think this season will be amazing (not as much as the first) I want to hear Musica voice already.

I think rather than 2020 they should release it in 2019 because the next arc of the story is gonna be a lot different than the first arc and a 1 year gap is just too much.
we might forget some parts from the first season and have to rewatch it again.
So it might be better if they continue it because they have enough material in the manga to do so.

Yess!! 2020 isn't too far off. I've been waiting to see the Goldy Pond arc animated! Can't wait to see the 'action' element added from this arc on.

On the contrary, it's really sad the manga is in its final stage. I really wanted it to last at least 200 chapters... seems like it would end with less than 170 chapters.

I really, really hope it'll be two cours this new season, otherwise the Goldy Pond arc is going to be completely ruined. I still can't believe in this first season they adapted almost 40 chapters into 12 episodes; it's like twice as many chapters as it should've been. They better do it right this time.

Well, if they released it so soon, then it would look really bad.(Unless they had a lot of time to make it beforehand) If they were to make the second season the same year as the first,(which many people say will probably be two cours) it would look worse than OPM season 2(and have you seen the PV for that??)

It should be 2-cour. It should go up to the Goldy Pond arc. The problem with that is that it ends around chapter 100... There's like 130 right now. So, if it starts airing on Winter there will be 165/170 maybe.

I don't know about Kakegurui, but TPN is consistent with its quality, although it's not a lie to say that this escape arc is the best arc so far imo.

I think they would have to double cour it since I don’t think there’s enough content before the Goldy Pond arc to warrant one cour and the Goldy Pond arc is way too long to cram everything into one cour.

This anime really exceeded my expectations in a positive way, especially those plot twists. I'd like to read the manga but I think I'll wait for the second season and enjoy it to the fullest without any spoilers.
