why would you even try to compare both...

there is a different between a country that started anime around 1958 and a country that dub other country work...

also everyone has different taste

e.g
Uchuu Senkan Tiramisù been voted with 46 people.. to them its #1 anime

so even last in the list is someone else top anime... just having people voting the same and make certain anime at the top won't make it the best anime...

now compare these polls with MyAnimeList top anime list... it sucks but its the truth

Hmm, I don't really think you can make a strict comparison between the tastes. They are bound to be different.
This said, I like the Japanese Top better. "Yuru Camp", "Yagate Kimi ni Naru" and "Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou" were the shows I liked the most, this year. Followed by "Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai".

In my opinion the Japanese is better... well, at least fits my (current) taste better. International overall is pretty Shounen- and/or sequel-heavy(BNHA 1st with 22% doesn't even show up in either Japanese poll).

Although I feel like missed quite a lot of shows last year. Anyway I'd probably rather look at Japanese results for next titles to watch than international

On one hand, Japanese fans have Asobi Asobase and Bloom Into You in the top 20 and Yuru Camp and A Place Further than the Universe higher, on the other hand, why are Girls' Last Tour and Land of the Lustrous on that list, and why isn't MHA3 there? Plus international has 3-Gatsu no Lion season 2 and both Bunny Girl Senpai and Jojo higher.

Good to see Zombieland Saga in top 10 in both poll.

Sad that Japan doesn't like Hinamatsuri but at least the international appreciate it.

Both have Goblin Slayer too high and Japan even has Koi wa Ameagari and Harukana Receive which are a no-no for me. I'm going for international.

Japanese poll was clearly better this time, in my opinion.
I was surely expecting Darling in the Franxx to be in the top 10 for the Japanese poll, but shocked it didn’t even make it to the top 20. Guess the controversy really put many off. I thought Goblin Slayer wasn’t too much of a biggie in Japan though, pleasantly surprised by the results of the poll overall. No Boku no Hero Academia S3 and Hinamatsuri was a bit disheartening but other than these, I didn’t have any issue with their results(I haven’t watched Planet With, so no comments there).

I'm very surprised MHA 3 wasn't even in the poll. What I don't see how Goblin Slayer was placed above it. Goblin Slayer was a 7 at best, didn't even come close to the hype season 3 had though.

Have to go with Japan just for Banana Fish. I will sing it's praises till someone shoots me. I think the rest of the list is weird though. Cells at Work was so meh to me, but opinions are opinions.

Both lists aren't that good for different reasons, the international is too mainstream while the Japanese list is just abysmal.
