I think it's a tie between Gin'iro no Kami no Agito (Origin: Spirits of the Past) and Patlabor The Movie 2.

Other great films that come close behind: Spirited Away, Ghost In The Shell, Howl's Moving Castle, etc.

Nothing has topped The Girl Who Leapt Through Time for me. It almost feels like a cop-out response after it has been mentioned so many times in this thread, but it's just that spectacular.

Clearly Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is the greatest Ghibli film :)

And Akira is also very fair. I love the music that plays when Tetsuo starts going bad. "Ahhhhh. Ahhhh" You know what I mean.

I haven't seen too many anime movies, but so far I would have to say End of Evangelion (though the new ones look like they have the potential to be better).

It has to be Byousoku 5 cm so far.

When I saw the trailer the last year, I fall in love with it at first sight. Then when Oukashou came out on Yahoo Japan PPV; I liked it very much. Finally, when the DVD came out on July last year, my heart almost melted with the end of the movie. Damn Makoto Shinkai, he’s the man.

Akira or Ghost in the Shell, and a lot of Miyazaki's stuff. These movies were some of the first anime I had ever seen, and their stories and visuals just drew me right in.

That's a tough question. For sheer beauty of animation and sophistication, it would have to be Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.

But for story and character and an endearing sense of wonder and fantasy, my favorite would have to be Spirited Away.
The further one goes, the less one knows.
