THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

That's not fair to force a man to go to jail when he just wants to kill himself. He could just become a wanderer like Kenshin.

And poo on those dirty politicians.

Yeah, just because he wants to kill himself he has to go to jail. I totally disagree with that.

How did Kenshin figure it out and know where to be?

How did they know who the mastermind was, just because they were all his rivals, they were all crooked anyway. Not really compelling evidence... and why did Toma suddenly decide to kill his boss? He just took everyone's word that he was being used?

Also why did the professor say the Jinpuu guy was better than Kenshin, then explain why his technique wasn't good after all?

Meh, shouldn't overthink I suppose. These small stories are getting a bit much for me, but I'm not sure I want to start a 30+ ep arc yet either...

Got pretty feelsy when Touma tried to kill himself, but Touma's form of redemption should be trying to atone for the lives he killed by saving others, not just serving time in jail...

Furthermore, although I understand Kenshin's extreme distaste for taking life of any type, he was pretty much defending those politicians in their dirty deeds. Didn't even try correcting them. I dunno. It's kinda like Kenshin, after killing so much in the past, only really cares about correcting the evil of those who try to kill. The other sins have nothing to do with him, so let them be. Not very compelling indeed.

How can you be blinded that much? Just by looking at his face, you could tell that the boss was a goddamn jackass. You gotta be retarded to follow someone like that.

Kenshin entrance was funny : ''You expected your target, but it was me, Kenshin!''
It was also funny how the cart driver calmly made a u-turn. You would expect that someone like a driver would lose his shit.

I totally agree. Kenshin has done this before too, though I can't remember the exact circumstances. I think it's just trying to appeal to kids maybe too much, that the show has very basic moral lessons that don't make the most sense under further glance.

Also, I'm a little confused by the ending. Won't Touma just be executed instead of put in jail/fined/whatever? I hope he can redeem himself, but it doesn't seem like that will be possible. This one overall kind of fell apart compared to the last episode, which set up the story decently.

The painful truth has been exposed, now the guy will live a tough life repenting endlessly. Not a bad arc, fairly enjoyable I must say.

Touma once lived for the sword but no longer can in the Meiji Era, he thought being an assassin was his calling but he was just a puppet for politicians. Ashamed, he targets the one who hired him, and when he can't even do that, he opts for seppuku, but his former teacher Sasaki stops him from leaving the world before he can give back to it like he and Kenshin do; that's the proper penance for these former killers.
