I just like for example Lucy from Elfenlied and Light from Deathnote (Yeah I know, total clichée series/mangas) and Tanya from Youjo Senki (Yeah I know, as a German I should feel bad about WW1) as well as the red-head from Steins;Gate but I don't have dakimakuras of them, nor do I see them as a living thing. I just like the characters and using them as wallpapers or profile pictures (like here) and watch their animes. I can partly identify with them, so what? Judge the medium for what it is, not who the fanbase is.
