With that type of ending no way in hell this does not get another season. I mean there are some that cliffhanger and don't but the last one to cliffhanger this hard and not get one was Spice and Wolf...which I still do not understand how that didn't get more.

So....they decide to end with a cliffhanger afterall? Cool that's what I was waiting for.

I can't say if there is really really epic plot twist later on the story(LN) then this should get 2nd season! 8.75/10 from me.

This one was the best,unbeatable mood killer anime in this season! all other anime are slower than this one!

It's been a while since I rated a show 10/10. Maybe if 99/100 shows these days didn't have brain damaged MCs like naruto or that exorcist dude, I'd rate this one lower.

Easily one of the best shows of winter 2017.

That part with Mary is what I definitely wanted to see.

Now I just hope for another season so I can watch her fight against Tanya.

I'm gonna be one of the few people that say "finally, it's over".

I get that many people enjoyed this anime, but I'm not a fan of military anime so all I saw in the subtitles was "blah blah blah military stuff blah blah army blah blah victory..."

This episode was not any special either. No battles, just military talks again, and Tanya being a little more mature and crazy than usual. Meh, I still don't care about what's really going on.

I'm sad that this anime ended, honestly i hope that chinese's rumors are actually true, even if it's kinda hard to believe.
Solid 7.5 for me, it could've been 8 if it wasn't for some REALLY horrible CG designs in last episodes. Great opening (my favourite of this season) and ending (2nd favourite after Gabriel dropout's one).

Hope to see more nazi loli soon.

I loved this anime from the first 2-3 episodes & it was for me a 9/10 show from the start, now that I have seen the final episode that change to 9.5/10 (on aniDB), near perfect, after having experienced everything I love it even more now, definitely the best show of the season imo, I'm just sad that it end :( I want moAr!!! also I <3 Yuuki Aoi, her acting is amazing I can't get out of my head her performance in Overlord, if there was Oscar for Seiyuu acting then she deserves to get one for her role there, I truly believe that.

Okay so lets get down to it now that the show is over.

Matter 1) Wouldn't Tanya be the biggest trap of the century (putting aside the whole rebirth from older male to female baby and no pun intended for the century joke.) Just try thinking of Tanya requiring a son but having to sit there with the male mentality in the girls body when involving a sexual partner.. makes the rule 34 out there a bit awkward to even think about.

Matter 2) Anyone else think this just screamed " YA'LL WANT A SECOND SEASON?!?! LET ME HEAR YOU MAKE SOME NOISE!!"

Matter 3) Being X sends people to Tanya to get rid of her from the world but she somehow keeps beating his cheat tactics.. did being X make Tanya too strong or like what's going on?

Being X doesnt' want Tanya to die, he wants her to be saved. He gave her the power to change the world to see if Tanya would change it for the better. She hasn't.

The joke on Tanya is that she blames Being X for all the things that are happening to her, but she has caused all of them: she joined the military, she gave the German HC the idea for the Battalion and then made it too successful, she was the one who came up with the idea to bomb the city which caused the Republic forces to hate the Empire, and she made the Empire's victory too easy, so that the UK, USSR, and USA HAVE to get involved.

Tanya is doubling and tripling down on her belief in "efficiency" because she refuses to consider what HER part in all this is: hence she continues to whine like a businessman while she goes about killing everyone.

That was one crazy ending, lol. I wonder if we'll ever get another season after that ending, but we'll have to see I guess.

Anyway, pretty decent show overall. These 12 episodes were quite enjoyable and had some really good moments.

8/10.

I'm not criticising the genre, you know. I've seen other military anime that I liked, I just didn't like the specific series and the way it used the genre. I said I'm not a fan of military anime, not that I dislike it.

Although that is true... it does sort of give off that feeling that they are always out to kill her for what ever god forsaken Ex Machina reason. I guess once a devout unbeliever always an unbeliever till the very end. Wonder what being X would do if she reached old age and was gonna die. At the beginning of the series Being X said that this would be Tanya's last reincarnation (God here being a combination of Buddhist and Christian), but I think Being X only said that to make Tanya take life more seriously. Something the Salaryman did not do (he was completely apathetic about dying, which is what caused Being X to intervene: what's the point of reincarnation if people refuse to learn from life.

“Hatred breeds hatred” this show turned out pretty damn good thought it was going to be overly "edgy" for lack of better words.

kinda always knew the empire wasn't all that good from the start but with that set up with Mary at the end they really do seem like the bad dudes with the rest of the world going to arms towards them

was refreshing to get a MC like Tanya for once will gladly watch another season of this not sure how much content is left but hopefully there's enough after that tease .

am i the only one who doesn't want mary and tanya to fight? couse i know its inevitable but i would really prefer they both survive. also i dont see anyone in this anime as the good guys or bad guys(even tanya) becouse its war they are just on the oposite site of the war. anyway i give this anime 11/10

First of all, I was expecting a closed ending for this anime, so with this cliffhanger at the end season 2 is guaranteed, and I'm more than happy with that.

At the second half of the episode I was realizing that all hope of peace was gone forever and now the war will be global, and at the moment I saw the goddamn Gustav tank and the little Mary being volunteer in the army I literaly was crying and laughing at the same time, it was too much for me.

And with Tanya's last speech I got the message, that now she will not be a rational being, but a one boosted by anger and hate, that with her talk with the General she was talking also about her, yes, I get excited by her last words but also felt sad for her, her chance for peace was taken and now she will only have a path of conflict to walk.

All Hail Tanya!

Here's another thing I liked about the ending. Remember early on, how LtCol von Rerugen called Tanya a monster in a little girl's body in a tone of utter contempt and hatred.

Now he said that about her again, but this time in a tone of, I guess you could say admiration and respect. I really liked that, how he's changed his opinion of her, even if he still understands her, especially when she got her insane groove back at that point.

Preferred scenario: Mary realizes, that Being X is manipulating her and she turns against him, joining Tanya.

Other scenario: she has to die.

Yes. The speech where Tanya explains things to Rerugen is awesome. Remember, Zen has deliberately set things up so that the Empire has always been the one attacked. This is a brilliant decision (and why this series is not about WWI or WWII, but is a deliberate blend of the two). Had the Empire been the aggressor then Tanya would be a Nazi, but since the Empire never initiated a fight, Tanya's position is far more morally ambiguous.

In this scene Rergugen cannot legitimately answer Tanya. The ash falling from his shaky fingers shows this. As you say, by the end, he still calls her a "monster", but he has come to accept that such a monster is needed in this world. The same is true with Tanya's battalion. They no longer trust their country, their trust is in Tanya. They know that while she may not be able to save all of them, she is their best hope of being saved at all.

I cannot remember being so mentally excited by a series. There are so many legitimate paths this story can take, that I am finally going to push my Japanese into "beyond light novels" in order to read what happens next. This series is awesome, Carlos Zen is a writing god.

Edit: oh, oh, oh, just rewatched it. When the one guy says he thought that the odds were too great for Tanya. Rerugen said "that would be the reasonable conclusion, but....

Love great writers, love great adapters, they captured this perfectly.
