I've got challenge #44 (culture) and #49 (folklore/mythology) - thing is, I can't find any. Except, when I began the challenge, I copied down Sakuran and InuYasha. However, I don't know what aspects they capture as required by the challenges. Help?

PS - Already Googled, no luck on Sakuran. However, after a further search, I found some information for InuYasha. Still looking for Sakuran info or a substitute.

Inuyasha definitely is japanese folklore, fox guy and youkai stuff. Which would qualify for either. Sakuran is based on a geisha, basically. So...geishas definitly fit 44, and inuyasha is folklore enough for 49.

Does anyone know if Youkai Kyuoushitsu is good for "49. Read a manga centered around folklore or mythology - Make a note of what kind of folklore or mythology is being represented", or if it needs to be of some famous folklore?

@tsuyokunaru I checked the FAQ and the helpful little description by the challenge but couldn't find an answer. So for "69. Read a Manga related to something you've previously read" can the thing it's related to be something on my dropped or on-hold list?

Hm, it hadn't really come up before, but yeah, I think you can read something related to an on-hold or dropped because the item says "something you've previously read" so that you've previous read was finished is not specified as a requirement.

Can someone who's participating in the challenge recommended me a manga for challenge 60.
And does anyone have any idea what 61 means by " Read a manga that another user has read for this challenge" am I too go back and find some one that finished that challenge?

61 is basically just read something someone else read for this. My entry has a ton of short stuff, it's like entry 58.

For 60, I always recommend Kakukaku Shikajika or densha otoko

Thanks! I was interpreting 61 has if I had to use someone else's entry for 61, good to know it's much simpler. Will definitely use Densha Otoko

what do you for when you don't have a favorite author/artist???
Haven't read too many manga....
This for challenge 8).

Should i pick just any manga of an author/artist? (or at least of one I have already read one of his manga?)

I just used someone who wrote a couple of my 10s. I think that's the best way to do it. Grab a manga written bysomeone who also wrote one of your 9's or 10's

Thanks for the help @ColdNobility and @AudioTsunami

Well have 2 quick question.

I'm trying to do Prodigious, so every manga needs at least 5 volumes.

Does the ongoing webtoons or manga also need at least 5 volumes? Because some of them have 200+ chapters but no volumes (specially webtoons).

And for Prodigious, for genre restrictions it means the the manga I keep it should at least have one of these genres?
Genre restrictions: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy, Kids, Romance, School, Sci-Fi, Shounen, Slice of Life or Supernatural

And last, I see that for webtoons and ongoing manga you need to be on the last chapter when you finish the challenge. So, for completed manga do I need to have read only 5 volumes of the whole manga to complete the challenge? (for Prodigious too)

Thank for help in advance.

to get the prodigious title everything needs to either be 5 or more volumes in length or be the same genre(in one of the selected genres).

Regardless of if you're doing prodigious or not, you must be be finished with the entire manga or up to date with the last translated chapter if it's ongoing.

Pretty much what @AudioTsunami said and also on the technicality regarding webtoons, yes you would need whichever webtoon you use to have volumes listed if you decide to go for the length restriction instead of the genre restriction for prodigious title.

For 68, I guess you can just go on tvtropes and keep clicking the random trope button until you find something highlighted that's like one piece. but that's not really the spirit of the challenge.

05: Kingdom
13. Donten ni Warau
31. Onanie Master Kurosawa
56. Kuroko no basket

I don't know if you've read any of that stuff because your list is private(which is also going to prevent you from turning in the challenge).

Hello, I need a recommendation for

60. Read a manga recommended to you by another Manga Reading Challenge participant in the discussion thread

My favorite genres are sports, shounen, supernatural, mecha and seinen (but it doesn't have to be all of them at the same time :P) I'm not looking for a very long manga, something about 5-10 volumes.

Thank you very much!

Hello. I would like a recommendation for no.60.
I would prefer it if it was a up to 70 chapters and shoujo/josei but I'm fine with anything. It must be completed though(translation as well) cause I have it as a restriction.

Thank you in advance :D

If you have access to madokami (I only managed to find it there), I highly recommend Itihasa. Like Reimei no Arcana and Red River, it's a shōjo/adventure. But it is superior to those two, in my eyes.

Otherwise…
Short one: A-A' or America
Long one: Tsuki no Ko

You'd really like Densha Otoko, I think it's a lot better than Chikan Otoko and of similar quality to Onanie Master Kurosawa while being in a similar style and being stories taken from 2chan(not sure if kurosawa was taken from 2chan actually) and seeing as you liked both of those a lot, I think Densha Otoko is a must read, otherwise i'd give you 2/3 choices.
