| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Well this was interesting. We got introduction of Mashu and Fujimaru's introduction in the beginning along with some info dump. I kinda like their character chemistry. The action was good and we got to see Mashu demonstrate her powers. Human extinction became a conflict of concern according to Chaldea. For most parts, I thought the special was thrilling that built up parts by parts after the introduction of the main characters. Animation quality is decent by Lay-duce. We also got Caster's introduction as well in this with the info dump about the other servants. What a guy. Seeing some of the servants in action was rather exciting in this.  |

I ask of you, are you... my Senpai? I just watched parts of the stream. It looks more impressive than i thought it would, honestly. I'll share more of my thoughts after the English simulcast, but so far it may actually tell the story better than the game did, with all the added stuff that wasn't in the Fuyuki chapter in the game. |

| Crap, I missed the last ten minutes. But, atleast, what I watched was nice. Roman was sexier than I expected, damn.  And, wow, Cas Cu  And, Alter ACCHAN~!  Though the design is pretty meh, ngl. Not to mention, The animation was normal, was kinda disappointed with the Excaliburs, but at least Mash's NP was nice. Wickerman and the skeletons also felt out of place. :/ Olga's design was was nice. RIP. I still wanted Gudako bullying her tho. >.< Goddammit, animators! All in all, it was quite enjoyable to watch, especially as I haven't read the plot for Fuyuki ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Edit: Also, holy sheisse, animated Guda Guda Order. |

Not half bad. In fact, it'd say it is rather good. Better than expected. To be honest, I was hoping that this OVA helped me to take FGO seriously and it's a good thing it happened. The animation is not top notch, I'd say it's average but the choreography, the photography, the pacing, all of them were well managed. The studio did not disappoint. My favorite fight is without doubts Archer vs Caster. It was beautifully managed. The rhythm of the fight was brutal. The strength of each blow, the movement, techniques, etc. I am really glad they not opted into making this fight a super flashy exchange of blows as Ufotable did in the first part of UBW (remember Saber vs Lancer lightspeed fight? or Archer vs Lancer first encounter? Yea...), although it was not as sharp as the fights on Fate/Zero or the second part of UBW. Again, this OVA made me take FGO more seriously. It's good they removed game elements for the sake of adaptation, for example collecting grails and having many servants as mascots (I still fear they get to do this in next OVAs) 6-7/10 Fine/Good movie OVA PD: R.I.P Olga Marie. She was such a good tsundere waifu material. | As expected the annimation quality, storyboards and cinematography all are shit. If to get past the expected poor quality of animation... Positives: Naked sexy Cu. Frankly the rest of cast is so damn bland that Cu is literally the protagonist of this work both here and in the source material, because Cu actually has actual interesting personality. And while power-level-wise Caster Cu being so powerful makes absolutely zero sense, at least it is far more interesting to watch than Masshit and protag running around cluelessly while holding hands. So bonus points for him having a lot of focus here. Replacing a lot of filler chuuni "monsters" with Cu screentime was great. If they adapt France and replace 99% of bs there with this might be bearable. Negatives: Going with Male protag which design wise is blandest thing ever. The Show REALLLLY wants you to self-insert into him and the show is framed in such a way as to waifu up Masshit with the viewer self inserting into protag. He has no personality, he has no ideals or struggle or flaws. The Protag is just THERE. To "experience" things happening. And while Chain Chronicle adaptation went to great lengths to add substance and depth to the protaogonist(who already had more depth than FGO protag), this did absolutely nothing to make The Protag into a character. He looks like typical japanese, he does not do anything noteworthy, he is there to insert for waifu-wank and tha's pretty much where his role ends. Especially with Naked Sexy Cu stealing the spotlight. At least FemProtag had a decent design even if she was just as empty of a character...That said... Adding Female protagonist as a cameo with implication of fridging. Not cool TM, not cool. I am hoping you do not fuck up Fate/Extra adaptation or I will no longer be able to defend Nasu from the misogyny and sexism claims. The huge amount of fridged female characters but then again this is source material problem too. And while decent and promising ones get fridged Masshit is as annoying as expected. The show REALLY wants to force you to like her. REALLY. Even worse than HF does with Sakura. While animation and storyboards being poor is to be expected the overall fight choreography and cinematography leaves a LOT to be expected too. Lots of stating frames, lots of basic left-to-right/right-to-left kind of transitions, lots of still shots with moving faces. Fight wise you have lots of sliding characters, disregard for basic physics, absolutely zero camera movement, etc. Oh and poor quality low framerate CGI. Final Thoughts Overall I am quite surprised by how low quality this advert was. This is meant to make people play the game so I guess huge level of creativity or devotion is not expected but type moon absolutely can pour more money into this than this. The main draw to seeing something that lacks in story like FGO adapted is possibility of well animated fights and this was VERY lacking in animation and directing departments. They offsetted some of that with naked sexy Cu but otherwise a lot of this felt VERY dry even for an ad. The action was dry the directing was dry and the writing did not do much to improve the flaws or plotholes of original. If they ever adapt France hopefully they can fuse altering plot for fanservice with actually good budget this time. Final Score: 5/10 an average score for an average advert with below average budget. |

Damnnn Gonna wait the subs... better rewatching it.. again the story ain't finished yet.. and i know there's gonna be a sequel of this... The Noble Phantasm of Kyrielight will gonna be a spot on.. I hope :D |

A pretty good fight there. |

| As a fate fan this is definitely 10/10 for me. Generally though it's definitely not true 10/10. Sadly for this, because we had Fate series animated by ufotable, without the unlimited budget the quality is definitely not the same any more. It was still very good though. (but not excellent enough to watch the battles again and again) Story wise, well it's definitely GRAND. Still the very ending was too much game like. It really felt like. "You have completed the prologue. New 7 objectives following." (then again if this specialis to make people wish they can play Grand/Order then it definitely made me wish I can play. !!Why is it so damn complicated to make it work and there is no english version!!) Last but not least. MC is more useless and annoying than Shiro from original 2006 series. (Okay maybe not as beating Shiro in that is really too difficult but Fuji here isn't that far from him.) OTHER THAN THAT THOUGH. It was really enjoyable. First part was boring but then the whole part of Fubuki wasn't bad. The single reason for that is Caster though. Haha. It's pretty much this. Caster not only carried the team in battles but also carried the whole episode making it awesome. Mash was pretty much useless for the most part as well. Saber was simply spamming excaliburs left and right. Archer didn't try too hard either. Fem Lancer did great job though. Not only that chains action was really good but most importantly. SHINJI GOT RECK!!!! BEST PART OF THE EPISODE!!!! |

| Well, I do not deem I regret watching this. I decided to behold this solely to contemplate my waifu Olga, and I got what I wanted. No cliche story or classic fights without using much of tactics or stratagem could blemish my goad. At some point I have revered this show. They managed to allude to our present with THE WALL and to recollect the past with giant wooden Bender. I laughed, but later was stultified by what transpired next. Sign* Really? Deceasing my innocent waifu? Oh cmon, no one valued her merits for her entire life, and now her most trusted person razed everything she had. Heh, and no one bothers to mention her in comments. | This was boring as hell imo. Never thought I would say that about a Fate series. I guess I had the wrong mind set when going into this. This just felt so generic and was not what I was expecting at all. The MC is like every other lame ass MC that you would find in your daily Shounen. The story was eh to me. I get it, but I felt like no else did. Like we making jokes and shit and the planet is dying. MC falling asleep and shit lmao. The servant fights was very boring. I like their designs. Mash had bigger breast than I expected and Saber Alter always is beast. Caster looked dope when he went all lancer on us lol. Archer design was great as well. The fights lack all impact. Comparing fights from Zero and Night. I know this is a different studio, but even Illya had great fighting. The bad guy... Yea. Overall it just didn't feel like Fate to me. I was missing that gritty tone to it. Like everyone has a set goal they need to complete plus its a war and everyone is always on the look out and planing. This high school type feeling. This whack ass MC. I like Mash and Fou. I'm just not feeling it at all. Maybe I got to wait till the full series come out. |

| Fate/Grand Order was just average in my opinion. The characters were mostly forgettable and the plot was very boring. The fights were nice though. And it was nice to see Saber again. But why did the protagonist have to be a brown haired boy who does not really know what he is supposed to do. Couldn't they have made him a little bit more interesting. Overall I would give this 5/10. Looking forward to future installments of the Fate series. |

| This was pretty interesting. This is kinda like a combination of all the Fate/whatevers. They're showing here that all those holy grail wars are happening in the same universe but at different times. And at each time there is that professor doing something to screw humanity to make sure everyone dies by December 2016. Looks like he failed because 2016 just ended lol. Liked how they switched places with the FSN Caster and Lancer (yeah that wasn't the same woman, but she does look a lot like the FSN caster). Lol Lancer didn't have to kill himself or anything and he was actually the last one standing in front of Saber. He totally deserved it. Liked how he was saying that he's not used to being a caster. He was wrongly summoned as a caster; he was supposed to be summoned as a Lancer only to kill himself. Lancer sure doesn't like good ends lol. The battle between him and Archer looked like the continuation of the one in FSN in front of the church (I think). Now the two have to time travel to different holy grail wars in different time periods and stop Leff. The scene where Mash is getting crushed by a big ass piece of rubble and Ritsuka is just sitting there so calm was super weird. That was probably the most off-putting death I've ever seen. Ritsuka was acting all is well and was even nekoing asking Mash if she's okay. Like hell she's okay! The animation was okayish I think. Obviously they weren't any match for the other recent Fate show, but they were passable I guess. The Archer vs Lancer turned Caster fight had some cool moments. I like what they've got going here and I'd like to see more. I would play the game but I don't know Japanese and other methods are too much of a pain (the game's not even available here on Google play anyway). |

Was ok with Taneda Risa voicing her as well, Taneda's the senpai VA for some reason, look at her roles as Mirai and the irritating Yukina, iie senpai, watashi tashi no tatakai desu. |

| Ok, reading some comments I do agree that Ritsuka (Gudao) seems to be a pretty plain and typical shounen MC. It’s true. Some are pretty mad they didn’t get the female MC (Gudako) but meh, you’ll have your yuri in Fate/Extra LE with Shaft (oh, such a surprise, eh) Anyway, the hand holding in the end was very like…what? They want people to insert on the MC so bad xD I brushed away those silly things I didn't like but I still liked the OVA. I mean, I liked it way better than the game. |

| Alright, just finished watching it. Ok, first things first, the biggest problem with the anime so far is the protagonist. Fate always had strongly written protagonists and Ritsuka is a serious downgrade. I hope SHAFT doesn't do the same with Hakuno. As for the overall story progression, it's generally better than the game. This part of the story was bound to be filled with info-dumps, so we at least got a lot of that out of the way... for now. I think they went a bit overboard with how Lancer acted, as her Alter form should be more blinding murderous rage rather than generic baddy #3427 who licks her victim's blood on her face and talks haughtily down to her enemies. Caster was a joy to watch as expected. Enjoyed watching Casta-no-Aniki kick Archer's ass for the hundredth time. Every timeline, Archer, damn. Although, they made Cu way WAY more powerful than he has any right to be here. I mean, Wickerman defeating Saber? This is borderline lore breaking right there. Speaking of Archer, really liked the bit about him just protecting Saber. This is very reminiscent of the anthology manga where he does the same. I wanted him to call his attacks, though. Also, no Rho Aias? Not even once? They better adapt the events or we're never seeing him in the anime again at this rate. About the visuals, while not ufo or even pre-3rei Silver Link great, they were more impressive than i thought they'd be. The choreography was also pretty good and they seem to have put some thought into them, for the most part anyway. The cinematography was boring though. Aside from a couple of shots here and there, every scene that wasn't an action scene was really standard. For the music, it was a pleasant surprise. For the tracks they're allowed to use from the game for the first singularity, they used the right ones and remixed the others. Nice scores all around. Overall, as one of the three bad chapters of the game, writing-wise, i think the studio did a pretty good job. They fixed a lot of the chapter's issues, and although they could've fixed more here and there, i think that the current result is still respectable. For the first OVA, this is passable, but they need to learn from their mistakes in the upcoming chapters. What they did in this chapter, while good enough for Fuyuki, would just not fly with the last 5 chapters. I guess the second and third chapters would be a good learning experience for them. 6, but raised to 7/10 because of Dat Cu. Pretty good overall. |
