Edit: I should prolly add that if the futuristic real waifu promotes sexual addition for most people, then it is better not have waifus come a reality, since sexual desire is by no means the goal of life for humanity. Tho it is nice to have something to cuddle and talk to(cuz futuristic waifus are prolly be advanced AIs) when you are upset. |

 Part of the wonder of waifus is the fact that they don't exist. Some visual novels with really good graphics can give you sense of them being real, but even if you could see them in 3D and see your own hand in front of your face going out to grab her boobs you still know it isn't real, which is how it should be. | Yes, waifus becoming real would be fun. For example, personal AI assistant with looks and mannerisms based on an anime girl of the user's choice. Elegade said: 2d transition to 3d is a nightmare. The obvious mistake is to try to replicate the art style when transitioning to 3D. The unobvious problem is called "uncanny valley", and it's when the artifical lifeform looks human, but not human enough. It's meant to let us detect when another human is sick, and evil replicant or something like that, and it makes us think that very human-like robots look ugly. No - Anime would not be as popular if this waifu movement didn't become more known in the anime community because I feel it became more of a thing when anime changed its artstyle and anime became more mainstream.
