What the fuck kind of ending was that?
Nothing was settled, they didnt leave the island yet. I feel like the show ended halfway through the full story.

smh disappointment

obligatory answer
"read the fucking source"

Thats because its obliviously not the ending yet?(lol) At the time the anime came out there wasn't enough manga to continue another season. Still not sure if theirs enough to cover another entire season yet. Hopefully we'll see a season 2 in the next year or so though. I really enjoyed it.

Hey guys, I just finished watching Berserk, and what's up with that ending? Like, how are Guts and Caska gonna escape from the Hell Rift? Will they survive the Eclipse? If only the TV show was based on some kind of source material that I could read to answer these burning questions...

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

Sales were bad on japan so they didn't bother making a season 2. You should read the manga instead.

I feel this complaint on a spiritual level
If you want more btooom, I suggest the manga (even though I haven't read it) as well as prayers for S2

it's not studio fault when they are forced to do it.. not even try to saying madhouse is good studio
i don't blame OP rant, the ending indeed shit... i blame why he need to ask when the answer is soo obvious...

That happens a lot in anime. You new? Read the manga if you wanna continue the story.
One note, the manga updates kinda randomly, so most of the time nobody knows when new chapters will drop.

Madhouse pretty much never bothers making sequel seasons in the first place.

Horrible ending yes but you have to understand that it isnt all the content so read the manga to figure out what happens.

If you want some more just read the manga. I remember I was pissed too by how Madhouse did a really poor job with this, and I had really high hopes, since this studio usually is pretty good. Though I have to say that I read BTOOM a lot of time ago when I liked Elfen Lied (which I now despise) so maybe the manga is really bad too. I don't know.
But yeah, if you liked the anime and want to know what happens next you should really read the mango, I remember it was a lot less "soft" too.

Okay. One thing you should know about anime adaptations is that a lot of times they're made for the purpose of boosting the sales of the source material like the manga, light novels, etc. That's why a lot of anime end badly with open endings.

I'm surprised this is the first time you've encountered this. Sadly many great anime end like this. I can't believe I didn't put Btoom in my cliffhanger anime episode.

It's one of the most horrible anime I've watched. I was sure I'd love it - an anime about people in a game where they have to throw bombs at each other?

But it's mostly 'damn humanity is bad' and some rape-porn.

@Kuma Perhaps the proper term is "have fun with those translations." They are rather sporadic. >_>

Moved from Anime Discussion

Yeah...It ends on a really bad "read the manga" note. Can't really do much about that.

Love how you're trying to blame the studio for the fact that the source material isn't even completed.

Season 1 was based on chapters 1-50. The manga is only now up to what, 90+?

Anyway it's been like 4 years--it would hardly be a surprise if the people on this project (director, voice actors) have long moved on to other stuff.

Okay guys I recently watched this anime.
And I can say for sure that the story is very similar to the movie The Condemned. This movie is from 2007.

Any thoughts?
