A quick good search kinda proved this wrong. A man in Virginia and a man in Iowa were both charged with child porn charges that came from having lolicon material on their computers. From the articles, it seems like they had a stash downloaded or something, so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with why they were charged or anything. In the same article it talked about a guy being charged in Canada at the border when he tried to bring manga across the border (I guess the characters looked underage) but the charges were eventually dropped. In the UK and Australia, similar cases as the ones in the US have been done. (Again, guys with a huge stash of images and stuff stored on their computers). Chances are the average reader won't get caught or charged with anything, there's so many people that do it so it would be hard to do. Just don't go stock piling images of underage characters and you should be good. |
