I watch 100+ shows with intervals, so I watch one, a half year later another one. Inbetween I watch the shorter shows.

I have yet to find the anime that would hold my attention for 200 episodes, and even ones that can keep me interested for 100 are rare, so I would watch the super long show out of curiosity about how awesome it would have to be for me to enjoy it to the end.

Diminishing returns is definitely a thing. I would like to get into a long series. However, even if it was consistent in quality, I would probably get burned out along the way.

All of the above is the only correct choice. Length doesn't matter as long as the quality is consistently good. Although, the shorter shows would probably end better and add up faster.

Anything over 100 episodes (110 to be precise) eventually gets boring and tedious to watch ,like it just happens sooner or later with no exceptions. Some might suffer because of it better than others but some (*coughInuyasha) simply become pure torture to sit trough.
Once into the ridiculous 400-500+ episode range (One Piece,Detective Conan,Naruto...) I literally need to take a year long breaks from said series in order to eventually progress and not just drop it indefinitely.

That depends, there are many 24 episode shows that tell a good story and wrap things up well. There are also 100+ shows that should have ended a lot earlier.

So to answer your question it would be both.

I'm assuming you mean you like longer shows, but this sentence could be interpreted either way.

If I already KNOW that I'm going to enjoy it? Well, if I'm privy to that sort of knowledge then it wouldn't really make a bit of difference to me since I already know I'm going to enjoy it. At that point, just bring it on.

Prefer shorter shows, but if I'm getting 200+ episodes of pure awesomeness (extremely unlikely scenario, though), I won't be passing that up.

12-24 episodes.

A conclusion is very important to me. I want to see where the story leads. If it just winds back and forth then there's not much there.

I barely have the energy to finish Hunter X Hunter. No way in hell will I even try to watch an anime with over 200 episodes much less 500.

Marathoning animes doesn't help it.

The sweet spot is 26 episodes..

One Piece was too much. I think i wouldn't be able to handle another anime with more than 400 episodes.

many 12-24 anime. I think anime that has like 100+ episodes its just dragging the plot whit fillers and extra sub-plots that don't need to be there. Also if you say to me an anime is great but it takes 100 episodes to start to get really good its already failed here, and yes you all know which one i mean.

Also i like watching many anime instead of 1 long is because there are all different so it doesnt get boring also i like the feeling when going in to new anime blind not knowing what is about.

Even if they do, you only have to wait 12-26 episodes to find out vs 100+. Less distance to fall when you eventually crash and burn and less time wasted watching.

Plus I can still name FAR more satisfying shorter series than longer ones.

I have seen a lot of good ~50 episode anime now. I would like to watch Hunter x Hunter 2011 and Aikatsu which are both close to 200 episodes, but not quite there. The longest anime I've seen by time now is Shugo Chara! at 40 hours and the longest by episode count is Chi's Sweet Home at 104 episodes (4.5 hours).

Generally speaking I tend to enjoy longer shows and they leave a much larger impact on me. Especially if it's a series I really enjoy I would rather be able to stick with it for a couple months on a binge marathon versus a couple days.

I'd just rather watch whatever it is that I know I'm going to enjoy. I mean, you might get 300 episodes into a series and think "I could have watched literally dozens of other series in the same time that I've watched these hundreds of episodes" but then there's no guarantee that you would like all of those smaller series that you watched.

Sure, your completed number of anime would be higher and you'd have more experience with the medium, but if you've spent more time watching things you didn't enjoy or thought were just alright or mediocre, it doesn't seem to compare much to watching hundreds of episodes that you know you'd like.

Not to mention that there's no rush to see everything. I'm slowly working my way through One Piece, because I'm enjoying it, but that's not stopping me watching lots of other series inbetween that. Gets the best of both worlds this way, because I'm enjoying the One Piece episodes whilst still exploring the medium with other series.

So long as I'm enjoying what I'm watching, I don't really care about the number of anime I've seen and completed.

maybe the drawback to the hundred plus animes are filler?
but still if i know im going to enjoy it then i'll watch it
i personally just came back from a hiatus of anime, just watching digimon seasons 2-4 which is about 150 episodes that i enjoyed all at once :]

One of the things I like about anime is that a series runs for 4-8 hours at the most on average. Better then many western series where they lull you into a television coma. I have seen many high rated 100+ episode series on MAL, I am not sure what the appeal of these shows is - I guess it is the consistency - you come back time and again and go away happy. However, in terms of straight quality, it is intuitive to me that a more concentrated 12 or 24 episode show is going to be able to maintain higher levels of quality then a 100+ episode show (all other things remaining same).

I have to look Gintama but cannot find the time. 1 episode per day would be good I guess.

That's actually what I did last year so that the show wouldn't get stale. That was until I realized that Gintama has more series that the original one. Eventually I switched over to as many as I was entertained by each day.

Some days I'd see 1, some I'd see 8, it would vary. For me, it was the only way to watch Gintama and have time for other series as well.

So 500+ option for me.
