So that Ichika gets some alone time with each of the girls in this OVA? Not to mention, we also get Charlotte in maid outfit. That's right, until she drops it off.

They somehow managed to squeeze in action in this OVA with Ichika. In end, Ichika got too much fun even if it's not real. Doujins where

Not near enough Houki for me personally. However it was nice to Chifuyu in action during the OVA, not to mention Yamada-sensei in the gunship unit.

I've pulled the raws, but once again, without subs, it doesn't do me a whole lot of good. Are there any groups out there that have confirmed that they're going to sub this?

Fan service is 100% max. Too bad for Houki who got zero fan service. Ichika save the day before it turn into a H-Anime. Gotta said this is fan service at it's best.

Came for the fanservice. Was not disappoint.

Anyways, holy snaps! 44 minutes! If only Ichikia was actually as his doppelganger or whatever was during some of these scenes, he might of been a decent character.

I wonder what they said. After I've seen the raw version of this OVA. Either way, I'm just glad that Ichi-boy (the real Ichika) saved those girls from those fakes by taking them out as they were about to be seduced/raped. Talk about a nick of time, don't you agree?

This is my brief opinion so far as I have not watched this with subs yet so I could only make out what some dialogue is said or determined.

- Ichika wasn't as oblivious this time around, meaning it was more enjoyable and bearable
- an actual plot that progressed more than usual though just as predictable
- lots of fan service as expected but lack of screen time for some characters, specifically Laura and Houki
- too much focus on Rin and Cecelia while maid Charlotte was amusing to see
- Tatenashi had her collective moments from beginning to end while Kanzashi had more of a support role
- Chifuyu was pure badass with four sheathed katanas but had less screen time than I had hoped for
- Yamada-sensei guns blazing with quad-chain guns
- A couple plot holes with rushed scenes near the end to maintain that 44-minute duration
- Tabane and Laura's apparent sister Chloe were behind the attacks

I would've enjoyed it more if it had actual movie length so some scenes could be extended a bit as well as expanding the relationships between the girls and Ichika as a couple though it seems to me illusion Ichika just wanted to rape them all in the end.

Good thing that the original Ichika got there to save the girls from these fakes right before bad thing would happen. Talk about the nick of time. Wouldn't you say? Don't you think they will be season 3 of IS?

Absolutely, Ichika saving the day as usual right before that incident, we wouldn't want to see that... or would we?

I'm no expert on the light novels but I've heard that season 3 is unlikely since at this point the anime has catched up to the light novels and Yumizuru is taking longer to write each novel.

While at the same time, a third season might be announced after World Purge-hen comes out, which could be the inevitable.

Or it won't happen at all because anime in general tend to go for only one or two seasons since most have all their compacted creativity and ideas into a short series rather than expanding it out to make longer series.

Studios want to make one thing and move onto the next project since usually it's a gamble and fairly expensive to make anime nowadays, so if there isn't enough profit, the producers just won't do it. However, seeing as how popular IS is in Japan, I'll be surprised if they don't do at least one more season or possibly another ova but also wouldn't be surprised either since that's what anime trends are nowadays with one or two seasons. Though this statement is arguable with ridiculously long anime like One Piece that keep pushing forward.

If they were to bring out the third season, then I hope that Ichi-boy(the real Ichika) will mature, becoming smarter as well as keeping his pure heart and either chose one of the girls or try to marry them all. Like Seina Yamada did,Tenchi did,and Mushashi from Koihime did.

Based on sales of the second season in Japan, there will most likely be a third season. In addition, there is still a lot of interest in the series in various otaku goods and the grey market (doujinshi). However, I do feel that it will be a year or so down the road before it's announced.

Ichika has one of my favorite harems, I love all his chicks. Although Ichika himself is one of my least favorite harem MC, and the show's plot always leaves something to be desired. It's too bad the more manly and assertive Ichika seducing all the girls in the program, didn't kick the real Ichika's ass when he had the chance. Then this would be a show worth watching. I mean for something other than the fanservice.

Some corrections:

This wasn't that rushed. Everything you saw was how it happened in the novel. Yeah, the novel spent a lot more time on Houki, Rin and Cecilia than it did on Laura & Charlotte.

Tabane & Chloe did the hacking attack, but the soldiers and the IS suit were American forces. Specifically, they were U.S. Navy SEALs and the suit was the "Fang Quake" model whose pilot's name is Iris Calling. The pilot here though was not Iris, her name is unknown. Their attack was completely independent of Tabane & Chloe's. American surveillance detected that the IS Academy was shut down for an unknown reason, so forces from the USFJ (United States Forces in Japan) Okinawa base mobilized and invaded the Academy so they could capture the IS cores that Chifuyu and Maya have been hoarding in the basement. The cores are the ones they've recovered from all the unregistered and unmanned IS "Golem" units that Tabane sent to attack the Academy in seasons 1 and 2.

I can tell you what was cut out of the novel:

There was supposed to be a scene at the beginning where Ichika and the girls test out a new IS suit called ERS that is supposed to be more of a "Real Robot" suit in that it's much more realistic than IS. Like real suits, it completely sucks: its battery lasts barely 10 minutes.

And I was sad to see they cut out the ending where Chifuyu releases the American pilot she defeated, but before she goes, she gives her phone number to Chifuyu 'cuz she's just that hawt. lol

Also, a third season ain't happening for a long time. This OVA covered 80% of Volume 8 (the last 20% were either the scenes I mentioned above that were cut, or was already in Season 2).

The series is currently at Volume 9 which was released in April 2014. There's no word on when Volume 10 is coming. A season needs at least 3 volumes to be 12 episodes long. Also nobody's translating Volume 9 lol.

Good to hear, as I mentioned earlier, I'm no expert on the novels so thanks for clearing those points up for me.

Now I see, the IS and troops that intercepted with Chifuyu and Yamada-sensei were with the States and needed to secure the previous IS cores from past renegade IS units. I had no idea that Tabane was the one that set up all those attacks in both seasons. She really doesn't care or give a damn does she?

As I thought and mentioned earlier, no clue how much progress has been made on the volumes but knowing that it's been pretty much caught up on the anime, it's gonna be a while if there will be a third season.

Any idea on why Iris is missing and what happened to that pilot after Yamada-sensei went in guns blazing, there was no conclusion to that unless it was what you mentioned earlier with a scene getting cut out with Chifuyu freeing her? I also wouldn't mind it if you could explain what happened with Chifuyu and Chloe near the end.

Any idea on why Iris is missing

I guess Iris isn't there because she's stationed in continental America, not Japan. The only time Iris appeared in the novel was when Madoka from Phantom Task attacked a U.S. Army base in the northwestern United States because she was trying to steal the "Silver Gospel" (remember that, it's the ultra-badass IS from the first season finale) and she fought her off.

I also wouldn't mind it if you could explain what happened with Chifuyu and Chloe near the end.

OK, so the confrontation at the cafe: it really is just as sudden as it was in the OVA. As in, right after the funny moment when Rin kicks Chifuyu, the scene just abruptly changes and we're at the cafe with Chifuyu and Chloe. It's basically Chifuyu telling Chloe to send Tabane a message to stop the bullshit attacks on the Academy, but Chloe is scared that Chifuyu is seriously going to kill her so she opens her eyes.

So basically, Chloe can generate illusions in cyberspace using computer programs, and she can also cause illusions in real life by manipulating air. It's at this moment that Chifuyu realizes Chloe isn't human, she's actually a biological IS suit. Don't ask how, she just does.

After she breaks out of the illusion, Chifuyu then asks if Chloe is going to ever talk to her younger sister. And Chloe says, "Laura Bodewig isn't my sister. She's an incomplete version of me."

And then that's where the OVA ends.

Now do you remember the scene in season 2 where Phantom Task recruited Tabane to work for them? That's what happens in the novel after Chloe leaves the cafe: Phantom Task actually kidnaps Chloe and brings her out as a hostage for Tabane to make her work for them. Just like in the anime, Tabane kicks all their asses and saves Chloe, and then she decides to work for PT anyway just because. Yeah, yeah, Tabane is totally loopy and lives in her own insane world.

The whole reason Chloe and Tabane used the "World Purge" virus on the Academy was so Chloe could gain access to the Academy's central mainframe because she was looking for the core of the IS unit "Kurozakura". Apparently, the "Kurozakura" was the original IS suit that Chifuyu piloted years and years ago, even before she used the "Shirokishi" in her legendary days.

and what happened to that pilot after Yamada-sensei went in guns blazing, there was no conclusion to that unless it was what you mentioned earlier with a scene getting cut out with Chifuyu freeing her?

If you're wondering what happened to the "Fang Quake" pilot, you can just read the Volume 8 epilogue (very short, only a page long) here. It's actually somewhat disconcerting the OVA didn't include this, because this scene happens after Chifuyu leaves Chloe at the cafe.

By the way, did you catch what Tatenashi said to Ichika when she was in his bed in the hospital room:

"I think I'll tell you my real name now... Sarashiki... KATANA."

Yes, I slapped my face pretty hard when I read that in the novel.

So, Iris was able to fend off Madoka from taking the Silver Gospel, yet it went rogue regardless due to Natasha (I think it was, again, barely know the novels) who couldn't maintain control and caused it to activate its safety mechanism of some sort? That seems to be the cause of finale but never mentioned Iris or Natasha other than an unmanned American developed IS going bonkers.

Chloe's afraid of Chifuyu? Didn't see that coming. So, Chloe's not a human, I figured that she'd be similar to Laura in that they both were born as experiments, Chloe being the successful and superior version of her apparent, obsolete younger sister.

Now do you remember the scene in season 2 where Phantom Task recruited Tabane to work for them? That's what happens in the novel after Chloe leaves the cafe: Phantom Task actually kidnaps Chloe and brings her out as a hostage for Tabane to make her work for them. Tabane saves Chloe but what's she to Tabane? A partner in hacking? Just like in the anime, but Chloe isn't mentioned or shown at all whatosever for ransom. Unless Chloe was held some place else during their talk in the cafe? It's fair to say that Tabane only cares for herself and Houki (though they're distant), maybe Chifuyu. Similar to how Tatenashi and Kanzanshi were avoiding their relationship before and Tatenashi being able communicate more openly with others.

The whole reason Chloe and Tabane used the "World Purge" virus on the Academy was so Chloe could gain access to the Academy's central mainframe because she was looking for the core of the IS unit "Kurozakura". 44-minute length. Probably why it was removed. I totally understand what you mean when some things are taken out in particular when compared to the original source (the light novels in this case). What bothers me still is as I mentioned earlier the initiation of Silver Gospel in the first season, how Madoka, Iris and Natasha were never revealed.

By the way, did you catch what Tatenashi said to Ichika when she was in his bed in the hospital room:

"I think I'll tell you my real name now... Sarashiki... KATANA."

Yes, I slapped my face pretty hard when I read that in the novel.

Initially I didn't think much of it then I realized what she said, and I was just in a state of: who, wait, what? Isn't there only two Sarashiki's with the names of Kanzashi and Tatenashi. Apparently, Tatenashi is a family-used name for whomever is the oldest sibling from what I know of. She's full of surprises.

The incident with "Silver Gospel" going haywire happened before the above. Madoka attacked the U.S. military base after the first season (this is Madoka's first appearance in the second season, which she infiltrates an army base, but the season did not animate the IS battle between Madoka's "Silent Zephyrs" and the "Silver Gospel" and "Fang Quake" for whatever reason).

"Silver Gospel" went out of control, I think, because the novel implied that Tabane hacked the machine. You know, just for fun.

Tabane saves Chloe but what's she to Tabane? A partner in hacking? Just like in the anime, but Chloe isn't mentioned or shown at all whatosever for ransom. Unless Chloe was held some place else during their talk in the cafe?

We don't know how Chloe and Tabane met. All the novel tells us is that Tabane saved Chloe from something sometime in the past. It's just a total mystery for now.

It's fair to say that Tabane only cares for herself and Houki (though they're distant), maybe Chifuyu. Similar to how Tatenashi and Kanzanshi were avoiding their relationship before and Tatenashi being able communicate more openly with others.

Yeah... the anime only hints at it, but Tabane is actually a raging jackass who everyone can barely tolerate, even Ichika, Chifuyu and Houki can't stand to be around her for long periods of time. The one who hates Tabane the most is Cecilia, because (in the novel only) when Tabane gave Houki the new "Aka Tsubaki" IS, Cecilia tried to talk to Tabane just to introduce herself, and this is how the conversation went:

Cecilia: I'm honored to meet so renowned a person! If you don't mind, would you take a look at my IS?
Tabane: Huh? Who the HELL are you? I don't know any blondes. I was having such a fun reunion with Chi-chan and Ik-kun, and you just had to go and ruin it, huh? Get out of my face.
Cecilia: Uh... um...
Tabane: Shut up and GO AWAY!

The anime tries harder than the novels to make Tabane cute and funny and make her less unpleasant for the viewers. But in the end it's just to cover up how much of a huge asshole she is.

The ultimate reason on why they did the "World Purge" was to try to locate Chifuyu's IS or rather, the core as you said. Any reason why they did it?

No concrete reasons why. All we know about Chifuyu's original IS is that it is super-powerful and she had to put it into stasis for some reason. Chifuyu even said at the end of the novel that if "Kurozakura" has to awaken again, it's time for the final battle.

Sounds good, again, appreciate some of the insight on the light novels. It was as expected that some things were going to be changed, whether they were removed or never mentioned in the anime.

Tabane's personality definitely struck me after you mentioned she's rude in the novels. She's always seemingly light-hearted and full of pride to cover that other side of her.

Man, why do you guys even prefer ecchi so much? I know this was an OVA but 'uncensored' ? My goodness what is this now? like almost turning into a hentai.

It might as well be one since this entire show is a tease. It's not even close to the second or first season. This OVA pushed the limits to a new height, now showing partial nudity with no censors and some sexual interaction. I actually think more people would watch it if it turned into a hentai.

"Silver Gospel" went out of control, I think, because the novel implied that Tabane hacked the machine. You know, just for fun.
It was Chifuyu who said that it was Tabane who hacked the Silver Gospel. She guessed that Tabane wanted the debut of Houki's Akatsubaki to be a big one since it's her sister's new IS and also a 4th gen. Chifuyu said a lot of things as well and Tabane didn't deny or acknowledge any of them.

That OVA was just... SPECTACULAR. Ling was the absolute star of this one. As someone else said earlier, that was easily better than all of Season 2 combined. THAT is how you make a fanservice OVA. Take notes, Japan.

As others say, I also came her for the fanservice. So far, it didn't disappoint. It was in a whole different level than last season.

Ling, Cecilia, Laura (in an apron) and Houki having their way with Ichika. Too bad there was no fanservice for Houki. I would have loved to see that. Charlotte being the best girl in a maid uniform. Then she took it off >:) Hahaha! Ichika to the rescue!

So Tabane was like the villain in this. Trying to get some kind of IS that's good. Chloe is Laura's sister since they do look alike.

The thing people don't realize is Tabane is one of the main villains of the series. She's always doing shit to fuck with the academy given most of the time it's just to make Houki shine but she will do it no matter how many people would get hurt or die. That's just how tabane is

It was basically a really lousy porn. Not a trace of a plot and some lame excuse leading to banging. Minus banging.

This OVA was better than all of season 2. Watching this was a blast. If Ichika was this bold, ah yes. loved it. perfection.

Laura & Charlotte had the best fantasies. The dynamic duo should have a spin-off like the 1st ep of S2.

This was better than all of Season 2 as a few people have said. Though its a shame it wasn't a bit longer and went in a little more detail on the fantasies. Or that Laura wasn't awake after she got saved, would have been itneresting to see her reaction.

This ova is a lot better than season 2.

Ichika saved his harem girls from his evil doppelgangers.

Houki's fantasy is kind of meh.

The battles and the fanservice were top notch in this. What were they thinking with season 2?

This was going the right way till the retard noticed he was needed and after that things went downhill tho i agree with others that this was 10 times better then the entire first season.
So for that fact this was ok i guess.
I hope this is the end for the IS anime tho, and i say this is the perfect thing the stop with even with the suggestion that more is going to happen.

Keep it to the LN.

As much as this OVA was mostly fan-service and little plot, I enjoyed the revelations that sort of pushed the plot forward. That the platinum girl was Laura's sister, that Tabane and Chifuyuu have some sort of fight going on behind the scenes, and even though I don't get it, even the revelation that Tatenashi's real name is Katana (seriously, someone please explain the significance of this? I still don't get it). Also don't get why Tatenashi is the rep of Russia instead of Japan... did they ever explain that in Season 2?

Seeing all those girls with their fantasies was hilarious, but having Kanzashi trying to steal a kiss from Ichika was even more fun XD

Seriously, what did Chloe do in the real world to mess up Chifuyuu's perception at the end? That was so cool!

So why did Tabane do the hacking? Did she want to gather information from Chifuyu's IS and make a much powerful IS.

That Chloe was quite annoying. As for Chifuyu, she was beasting it on the battle field.

Moving on to the ecchi stuff. Poor Lin, she was about to get raped by Fake Ichika. Her part was much more intense than the other girls. Cecilia's was quite detailed. Fake Ichika grabs her butt, he passionately washes her back. That Ichika popping up even in the tightest of spaces to save Laura lol. Charlotte was quite cute, a maid outfit. Imo, Houki's was very bland. No ecchi, compared to the other girls.

Better than all of season 2 + 1.

This makes me wish they continue to release IS OVA style if it makes them write more condense plot lines through the episode. The main seasons suffer to much from poor pacing.

Humour was great too

"Ideal Ichika",
The part with the girls fantasy ("virtual reality") and Ichika
"rescue" were funny.
but overall - just another stupid IS episode full with fanservice.

Season 2 was much better than this OVA.

I'm disappointed that the best character (Madoka) did not appear in this OVA
